Newcastle Star Likely To Leave This Summer

8:53 am, Monday, June 29th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 18 Comments

The players return on Wednesday for pre-season training,  and we expect Steve McCall to be a busy man for the next few weeks, as he gets to grip with the training at Newcastle and has a look at each of the players Newcastle currently have and decide which of them can leave the club.

But the Chronicle is reporting today that Steve will be making a quick decision on Cheick Tiote

Cheick Tiote – in action last season for Newcastle

Tiote has been itching for a move from Newcastle for over a year now, and of course he played at FC Twente for McClaren in their Dutch Championship winning season 2009-2010 – before moving to Newcastle in August five years ago for just £3.5M.

Cheick Tiote still has two years left on his (lucrative) contract at the club, and he had injury problems last season and hardly played for us this year, after being injured in the African Cup of Nations.

Tiote ended up playing only 12 times in total last season.

If any player doesn’t want to play for Newcastle, then now is the time for them to go,  as hopefully we start a new era at Newcastle, and if Cheick has lost interest in the club and wants to go elsewhere – so be it.

There are a couple of Turkish sides said to be interested in taking him and it will be interesting to see what kind of bids we get for the 48 times capped Ivory Coast International.

We’d be surprised if Cheick Tiote is at the club come September.

Cheick has played a total of 130 times with one goal (the late equalizer against Arsenal in that incredible 4-4 draw) for Newcastle over the last five seasons.

Comments welcome.

    Whos Steve McCall

Unfortunately, Dummett will need to be consigned to the bench if we are to improve. This position has gradually become a lot more important, for several reasons.

Tiote? Maybe the new coaches can bring the enforcer back.

we should give Tiote and Cisse another year here, bring at least 4 players:
CB:we need a leader on this position, great header and strong, also good with ball (Abdennour,Rami,Van Dijk)
MC:we need playmaker, great both with and without ball (Wijnaldum, van Ginkel)
WG:someone with ability to beat man and with pace and good cross
ST:complete striker, good with ball and in box too (Austin)

    Lil mate,
You don’t value Siss at all, you have him behind the ball boys! Yet, you expect to get 10+ for him 😉

    They fools then?

I don’t expect to get that at all. I don’t think anybody actually wants him. That figure was based on journalists claiming £17million bids – all agent stirring as Sissoko wants out, but no club is interested.

I fully expect him to be here come the end of the transfer window.

    Does anyone remember,
Did Milner want out or did we push him? Who committed that heinous crime? That’s exactly the kind of player we need now, apart from a 20 goal CF. Is KK involved in this story?

He was being pushed out, then we pulled the plug, then we decided to push him out and he was more then happy to go after we messed him about. I think that is roughly how it went.

KK wanted to keep him, but the club wanted the cash.

Expat…to be honest with you I only think there’s a handful of people that would say my response to Jeff was prat-like and I could easily name them all!

It’s a perfectly good day for the club to release some info!

…let’s see if it will happen 🙂

I see Jib’s turned up again so let’s hope he/she/it behaves like a sensible human being.

  • 12 cyprus // Jun 29, 2015 at 9:25 AM

He gets involved… he’s powerful, scares opponents. Has played at the highest level internationally. He can dribble, sprint past players as if they ain’t there. He can score. He attacks people full on, as you know that’s what they hate the most.

Yaya was a worse player at his age.

Does he make wrong choices? Yes. Does he lose the ball? Yes. Does he try to save a crap show by trying to much a la HBA? Yes. Is there room for improvement? Yes. Was he pardewed? Yes. Will he be part of our CL team? Hhm, yes 🙂

The Milner saga started with a loan period to Aston Villa
Fat Freddy accepted a bid of £4 million for him but at the last minute tried to get Gareth Barry instead which ONeill would have none of.
Without going into too much detail…………
In the end it was Hippo heid Allerdyce that sold him in a very dodgy scenario involving agents commissions (a common theme with Sam at the time) , and was probably one of the factors that persuaded Ashley to bin the Fat Brummy

Don’t give jeff jib air time folks. He’s been rumbled if you look at last night’s posts.

On milner my (poor) recollection was he was feeling sidelined, wanted away but kk didn’t really want him to go. He went on loan to villa I think and made a lot of noises like he wanted to stay there, we brought him back but it was short lived he’d had enough and it was time to cash in
    That’s my crappy recall. 🙂

Newcastle News: could, should and likely. Will the club actually speak for themselves?

  • 16 Jib // Jun 29, 2015 at 9:33 AM

To be fair to Milner he gave it his best shot a few times , he was spotted by SBR at Leeds who took him under his wing and after Bobby the managers just got worse and worse.
Souness said “This club will win nothing with a team of Milners” — what a prat !!!!

  • 17 Lindisfarne // Jun 29, 2015 at 9:35 AM

Where there’s a will there’s a way. Is that the same as, where there’s is a Dick there’s a Donkey?

  • 18 thevirus // Jun 29, 2015 at 1:14 PM

To be honest if tiote goes and is properly replaced then I won’t miss him one little bit, poor attitude and poor discipline, same goes for sissoko his heart just isn’t with the club just playing for a move but unlike cabaye isn’t good enough
