Surprising News About Newcastle Defender

News in the Shields Gazette today that Paul Dummett will be offered a new and improved contract at Newcastle, even though it was only in November of 2013 that Paul got a new long six year deal at his home town club.

But Paul has impressed since then and has shown his versatility, being able not only to play at left back but in the center of defense too – so it will be a big boost for the local lad.

Paul Dummett – a new deal and number 3 shirt

Paul will also get the number 3 shirt which Davide Santon had before the Italian surprisingly left the club on the last day of the January transfer window for Inter-Milan – his former club.

It’s good that Newcastle keep picking out the players who have done well and reward them with these new deals – so something is going on behind the scenes at Newcastle even though the last couple of weeks has been very quiet with very little communication coming from the club.

You can never accuse Paul Dummett of not giving his very best for the club, and many think that Paul could end up as a center-back,  and he’s been impressive when he’s played there for Newcastle.

However Massadio Haidara will be fighting Paul for that number three jersey, and both had injury problems last season, so let’s hope that will not happen this season.

So this is the second bit of good news today – with Ian Cathro being interviewed in the Sun and saying he’s delighted to be joining Newcastle United, which has come ahead of any announcement from Newcastle.

Paul will be only one of the Newcastle players Steve McClaren will be assessing when pre-season training starts in earnest on Wednesday.

This is good news for the Kenton lad who has played 51 times for the club with two goals.

This I don’t want to talk about.

In other news if you insist on engaging the new, improved jeff in one of his many guises then you bring it upon yourself. It won’t be long before the blog degenerates again. Just remember he’ll be pleasant ( well by his standards) for a while, then the winding up will start. Take a step sideways folks.

“”Arsenal and United requested scouting tickets for this tournament but they were hardly alone – Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Bolton, Brentford, Brighton, Burnley, Charlton, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Reading, Southampton, Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea, Tottenham, Watford, West Ham and Wolves all made similar requests, not to mention Milan, Ajax, Dortmund, Atlético Madrid, Internazionale, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and many of Europe’s other big clubs.””

    Newcastle on the beach?!

I thought TalkRadio was an official media partner, anything about Newcastle on there? Or is that only when we unoffically hire a drinking buddy of Mikeyboy?

It looks like Ed couldn’t be bothered to actually read the article in the Shields Gazette. It said:

“Paul Dummett could be set for a double boost going into the new season – by landing the No.3 shirt and a new contract at Newcastle United”

Notice the use of the word ‘COULD’

Unfortunately, Dummett will need to be consigned to the bench if we are to improve. This position has gradually become a lot more important, for several reasons.
