Newcastle Bid £15M For Two Marseilles Players

There are reports coming out of France that Newcastle United are now looking at Florian Thauvin’s team-mate at Marseilles – Mario Lemina – so Newcastle could not get one but two Marseilles players.

According tu the Chronicle Newcastle are pushing hard to get their first transfer breakthrough this weekend, so it would be doubly good is we can sign both Thauvin and Lemina together.

Mario Lemina – 21 year-old Marseilles central midfielder

Lemina is a right-footed central midfielder who turns 22 in September – and he plays in defensive midfield, and so could be the player brought in for Cheick Tiote, should Cheick be sold this summer.

The report is in L’Equipe that Newcastle have lodged a bid for both players, and the total amount offered is around £15M.

Lemina was born in Gabon and has been at Marseilles two years since signing on from Lorient,  and has so far played 46 times for Marseilles with two goals.

He has played for both the French U20 and U21 sides and he was called up by Gabon to participate in the 2015 African Cup of Nations, but he refused to play for them and still harbors ambitions to play for France.

Before he joined Marseilles at 19 years-old he had played 18 times for Lorient.

Lemina still has three years left on his contract at the south of France club, and the 6 ft tall midfielder would cost around £3M.

Newcastle have been linked heavily with Thauvin for over three years now, and maybe we can finally get him to the club – and he’s one of the best young players in France.

Comments welcome.

all these stories are from bishop and more to do with the very poor season ticket sales than us getting players

Enough with signing players from the French market because they supposedly represent ‘value’. For every Cabaye and Debuchy we have signed utter flops like Riviere, Marveaux and Yanga-Mbiwa. Cabella and Haidara have both been bang average to boot.

When will Mike Ashley realise that cheapest doesn’t always equate to best value?

Actually, that’s rhetorical: given the way he piles up the tat in his shops he probably never will.

Marseille want 15 mill for Thauvin and we bid 15 mill for both.
Typical transfer business from the board, and then wonder why we get turned down

The incredible minds at the top of the tree at NUFC wail and moan and wring their hands because they can’t get these signings “over the line”. And the supporters are expected to feel their pain, sympathise, and understand. If the penny hasn’t dropped by now that you need to paid the full quid to get the quality players 99% of the time, when really, you have little else to offer, it never will. Ashley, Charnley, Carr out. Ya Basta!

Deals looked easy last year. It seems it is too hard to make a deal.
    1. Perez – Visited NUFC signed
    2. Colback – Signed after e season ended
    3. De Jong – Didnt see that coming
    4. Cabella – Took long because of World Cup but after signed. Jst increased e bid from sale of Debuchy done.
    5. Janmatt – Wen I heard the speculation I thought it was lie then signed.
    6. Darlow and Lasacelles – These kids were being chased by Arsenal.
    1. Lacazzatte – I dont think he wanted to come he said it several times.
    2. Remy – Liverpool and Chelsea came calling and wat did u expect.
    3. Tony – We wanted a permanent deal. He wanted a loan deal worth £5m. Looked like a risk.

We got e deals right but jst failed in e important ones. Everything jst looked easy and thought we had got the MD everyone was waiting for.

Although any movement in the market would be welcome I would be annoyed if these were recruited ahead of the higher priority of cb and cf.
Would be typical of them to buy on potential value of an individual rather than looking at what we need.

    It’s all rubbish anyway.

15m for BOTH!?? Lol we have no chance after reading this. Thauvin alone costs 15m! Typical Newcastle and it makes me sick. Going round in circles wwhilst all other clubs are moving forwards. It’s a miracle we’re still in this league after doing this crap every season. Sir Bobby is surely working wonders up there to save us from the drop.

In the current PL climate, with the TV money and all, our penny-pinching philosophy looks ridiculous, quite frankly. If you are in or around the PL it is only logical to spend money to stay there, because the financial rewards will flow, even for middle of the table clubs. I think Ashley’s “everything on the cheap” mindset will be his, and unfortunately Newcastle’s undoing. He might have the sort if animal cunning to make it in the bottom shelf business world, but clearly lacks the intellect to deal with something more complex like a PL football club.

So what is it? Are we offering 15 mil for Thauvin and asking for Lemina as a freebie? Charlady must be usurped.
