Newcastle Linked With Real Madrid Central Midfielder

There is a report that Newcastle and Steve McClaren may be interested in Real Madrid’s young central midfielder Omar Mascarell, who was on loan at Derby County last season, and Derby have an option to buy him, which they are now said to be considering.

Omar Mascarell

Omar Mascarell – in action for Derby last season

But other clubs are also said to be interested in signing the 22 year-old who was impressive for Derby last season,

Omar has two years left on his contract at Madrid and was one of the players who was out towards the end of the season.

His absence coincided with Derby’s dramatic late collapse last season, as they finished out of the play-off spots in 8th place.

Steve McClaren was fired by Derby a few weeks ago, and they brought in Paul Clement from Real Madrid, so you would think Omar would be willing to sign on at Derby since Paul presumably knows him well.

McClaren is now at Newcastle which explains Newcastle’s interest in the youngster.

Omar was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands, and he joined Real Madrid’s youth system at the age of 17, arriving from local club CD Laguna de Tenerife.

So maybe he is aware of what Ayoze Perez did at Newcastle last season which could help Newcastle if we are really interested in signing him.

Mascarell has played once for the full Real Madrid side and 52 times for Real Madrid Castilla – their reserve side – and he played 30 times while on loan at Derby.

The report is in HTC Sport who are citing sources close to the Derby club.

What do you think?

People claiming that Marseille want 15 Million for Thauvin need to understand how the exchange rate works. They want €15 for him, we’re offering £15 million for him and the other fella. In other words that’s roughly £10 Million for Thauvin and £5 million the defender.

very good player, a real string puller in a good passing team. We should get him.

Despite my doubts about Shteeve, a couple of things have made him grow on me somewhat.

I love the fact that they actually trained with a ball, which was total anathama to Pardew and seemingly he really was dealt a bad hand with the injuries to his top players ruining Derby’s run in.

think Thauvin will be signed at some point, seems to be a repeated effort to get him(if these bids are true).

Still dont think any of our actual realistic targets have gone elsewhere so until i see Austin or whoever holding up another teams shirt i will continue to cling on to my optimism..

Back pages full this morning of the shock news that McClaren has introduced a thing called “a ball” to training.
These are just the kind of revolutionary innovations we gambled on when we amazed the football world by snatching wonder coach Supermac from under the noses of nobody.

I see the idea that he just needs time to get the best out of current squad, and maybe signings can wait, is steadily being wheedled into our complacent skulls.

And when did that idea that only those who express obsequious support for every action and inaction of a regime are “sensible people” become an established fact…for adults?

Surely its easier to invest in the squad, instead of the spin doctors coming out with all this drivel
Talking, meetings when everyone else is buying
They’re starting to sound like politicians instead of football people

Well I was called all sorts of things last night by Munster Mag because I have failed to ser the hype surrounding this so called strong coaching staff…

…I get what we had before was far from adequate but calling this one strong seems stretching it to me!

And doesn’t warrant the tone! It’s a bit like Senor Tuff called it just before about some posters just having it in for others.

The club is run by a genius, great way to get the fans onside and season tickets sold. Whoever thought of this take a bow

Amazing innit? A ball? Used in training? What’ll McClaren think of next?

What a revolutionary idea. Trying to get players to actually play football after the years of rubbish served up latterly by the self-professed best coach in the Prem and before him, Pardew.

Nah, it’ll never catch on at SJP, they don’t do football but believe they’re in business to make money by buying and selling players!

    Hope I’m wrong though.

    Ibiza.

Sorry for not getting back to your question about my suggestion that McClaren might have gained more influence on the so-called Football Board than originally envisaged.

No, my suggestion wasn’t made with tongue in cheek. He’s been with us for a few weeks, weeks of Charnley twiddling his thumbs, taking forever to appoint Mac’s backroom staff, dithering over potential signings and his frustrations may have been shown by his relative silence.

However and if it’s true that Moncur’s had a view on Charnley’s reluctance to pay realistic fees for targets, I wouldn’t be surprised if Charnley’s been at the receiving end of pressure from his board-colleagues.

However, we can but wait and see what comes out in the wash.

Anyway, you get back to your morning coffee and be vigilant when assessing pretty young things that parade past you hoping to catch the eye of the bronzed adonis that is you!

    Enjoy your day.

    😉 ????

Lesh…Thanks for the response. We shall see indeed. I’m just a little confused as to why getting in the coaching team and an email from McClaren to clarify that in July signals that he’s getting further control.

Doesn’t mean he hasn’t, I’m just not seeing where he has. Not that much longer to wait though.

Coffee time – Sadly the women of Ibiza will have to survive another day without this “bronzed adonis” – If you could see my tanned arms (left more so than the right from driving, face and neck – you’d get a right laugh from that comment.

If this management gets the slightest feedback from the fans that we’ll settle for one or two signings, that’s what we’ll get. And maybe less.

There are people on here trying to ring-fence the discussion to training and tactics. They even want transfer speculation placed out of bounds. We know why. They are by and large the same “sensible posters” I refer to above.

You may think you are being a good fan by trying to close down the debate. But you are not. You are making it easier for the so-called board to relax.

we are not Chelsea or Manure but we r jst studying the situation.

Making Head Coach a board of director is a good move he is well informed wats going on. I think Mcclaren wants to first see his players analyse them then we move on. He is an experienced coach he does nt need to know a good player and a bad one. I believe every thing that is happening he has a say on it

will die for…if he doesn’t know already he (McClaren) had to make an impact on this team rather fast he’ll never know!

Having both McClaren and Carr on the board is neither clever nor revolutionary! It’s Ashley showing he doesn’t know anything about football and thinking we don’t either!

…don’t even get me starter on Moncur 😉

This is the current squad sorted into 3 Groups for ease of understanding.
I don’t think it is the crisis some are wailing about , factor in players back from serious injury plus some decent coaching , I am quite upbeat about 2015/16

    Haris Vu?ki? Mehdi Abeid
    Sylvain Marveaux Gael Bigirimana

Having McClaren and Carr on the board means nothing really unless it actually makes a difference which thus far it hasn’t

We are slower out of the transfer blocks than usual and if McClean hasn’t analysed the squad by now he needs a head shake because its quite clear we are weak and where the key issues are

Yes, we’ll have to wait and see but you ask for indicators of Mac’s possibly increased influence.

It’s interesting that after the cock-up that was the McClaren appointment announced to the Ckub’s media partners, we should see a communication made to the world at large – in McClaren’s name. It suggests that he’s had a concern about Charnley’s policy of silence!

And, his comments seem to suggest that he’s got more influence over transfers than Charnley anticipated.

And more importantly, you can’t be swanning about with a one-side tan – you’ll be looking like Tommy Cooper on his hat sketches! Why not try to get some balance – try driving around in reverse to get the sun on the pasty bits!

    Jesper,
@35, spot on mate. We don’t often agree, but why on earth would a Head Coach and Chief Scout be on a board?? It makes no sense.

It goes against the definition of a Head Coach, and goes against the role as they described back in Jan/Feb. As for Carr, he should be out scouting and working with his scout tam, not involved at Boardroom level. Moncur is merely an attempt to placate Geordie fans by having a club ‘legend’ on board.
