Newcastle Tracking Reading Central Midfielder

5:20 pm, Friday, July 3rd, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 123 Comments

It looks like Derby County have beaten Newcastle to Tom Ince, but it’s not clear to us if he was even a target, although the Magpies have been linked with him in a number of reports this summer.

There is news today of another Championship player we may be interested in, and that’s Reading’s young central midfielder Aaron Tshibola, who we assume Steve McClaren may know about after his last two seasons in the Championship with Derby County.

Aaron Tshibola

Aaron Tshibola – Reading’s 20 year-old central midfielder

Aaron is only 20 years old and is one for the future,  and he spent the second half of the season at Hartlepool last season where he played 23 times, and on his Twitter account it looks like he has just signed a new deal at Reading.

His old deal ran through June of next year – so we’re not sure how long the extension is, but that will be to protect Reading’s interests in case he is sold.

The Mirror is reporting that both Newcastle and Aston Villa are interested in the youngster, who has made just one senior appearance for Reading.

That came at the start of last season, when he came on against Nottingham Forest as a late substitute in the 4-0 thrashing.

Newcastle are reported to have been scouting the 6’3″midfielder this season, and these young players will generally go straight into the development squad under Peter Beardsley.

If we have a good transfer window we should be bringing in about six first team players and maybe two or three development players like Tshibola.

Aaron has played once for the England U18 side.

Comments welcome.

Jeez Ed, cant see how this warranted a thread..

  • 2 Sammmy // Jul 3, 2015 at 5:27 PM

Can’t see us getting him this summer. Maybe in January or next season. If he has just signed a new deal then its a bit too soon.

  • 3 mickalfas // Jul 3, 2015 at 5:29 PM

If Hartlepool want to buy him ,can we compete with them?

  • 4 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 5:41 PM

Any fans who say they don’t want him back are just the exact type of people you find boring you to death with “ashley out” comments every 5 seconds.
I for one would love to see Cabaye back and Ashley out. Stick to posting on your ISIS blog you tw@t.

  • 5 will die for the toon army // Jul 3, 2015 at 5:42 PM

We cant compete with Haterpool. We cant compete with anyone.

  • 6 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 5:46 PM

Seen somebody post about Mclaren not knowing tbe weaknesses of tge squad, surely Beardsley, Watson, Moncur and tge tea lady could tell him we need a new CB.

  • 7 Ibizatoon // Jul 3, 2015 at 5:47 PM

Can anyone tell me whether Penfold has released any further statements about club policy and direction since January?

I can’t help but feel that as fans we’re once again being left to assume certain things have changed within the setup, when if you read those statements in January, the future was explained fairly clearly by our dear MD.

We seem to have a situation at the minute where fans are saying that it’ll be McLaren who is pointing the club towards players he wants, and that is likely the reason behind any delay in signings.

“The new head coach will have to set out to us what his playing style is, what his philosophy is and what he looks for in his team because that then impacts on what we look for in terms of recruitment. It all works together.”

“We want someone who sees the bigger picture because my thinking will always be medium to long-term. When people talk about what we’re going to do in this transfer window, I am looking at the next transfer window and the window after and what impact it will have on that. Are there better opportunities if we wait three or four months rather than committing now?

It’s trying to find that balance but also an individual in a head coach that trusts us. If we say ‘You aren’t going to get that now but you will in the summer’, it’s someone who is prepared to say ‘OK’ and trusts us to do that.

It’s also someone that for example, if we were to get an offer for a player that is at a value that we want to take, isn’t nervous about getting a replacement. There has to be a trust.”

If there has been a change in that policy, which some seem to be suggesting as simple logic, then surely an updated club statement should have been made?

Which leads me on to what I personally have a much bigger issue with at NUFC…communication.

“I think we do communicate but we need to find a better way to communicate.

Our view was that Alan was the one who was front and centre and will take all of the questions on all areas of the club. Alan was then left, sometimes, in a difficult position answering questions that he probably wasn’t best suited to answer.

This is an opportunity for us with a new head coach coming in – there’s more clarity about his role and what he does. His role is coaching and that’s what he can talk about.

If that’s the case it’s only right that I then support him in terms of the messaging going out. If I’m saying ‘Only talk about team selection and the games’ there needs to be another voice.

I think the information has been out there, through the fan’s forum and through the statements, but it’s how we get it out there that needs to improve.”

Where is this other voice? Who is telling us what is going on?

Again I am left wondering why we are always left to assume and second guess them. Who does that benefit?

We dont compete for players . We have lost all our competitions or we back out. We look for a player no one is wanting and we buy.

Competition is a disease to the board and never have plan B

  • 10 Big Pappa Cissé // Jul 3, 2015 at 5:53 PM

The sad thing is we don’t even need to break the bank to have a quality PL side .

    ——Sissoko———-De Jong———-Aarons——

Then sort out the defence and we will have a strong bench as well . Get your Wallet out Ashley for fcuks sake .

  • 11 Ibizatoon // Jul 3, 2015 at 5:57 PM

Big Pappa…It’s not even Ashleys wallet anymore really, it’s the clubs supposedly.

It is odd that Ashley has managed to find someone who doesn’t appear to like spending money mind. Must just be a coincidence. The man said he would continue to invest….

  • 12 kilcline // Jul 3, 2015 at 5:58 PM

    Is Thauvin any good?

We will regret not signing Richards.

  • 13 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:00 PM

Simple logic tells one that while McClaren has not even seen his sides play in a friendly yet , plunging into the market when he has 7 friendlies , and 4 premier league games to play before the widow shuts would be irresponsible .

Until he has a good idea of weaknesses in the squad , he cannot use the knowledge built up over seasons , of players he has had playing for him , and against his sides.

  • 14 Ibizatoon // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:04 PM

Sorry, did I not use quotation marks?

“Simple logic” or should it just be plain old “simple”?

  • 15 Mag52 // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:08 PM

It was the thoughts you added that I took issue with Mr.T. (which I see you are avoiding trying to defend).
The fact that you are obsessed by our former manager is a given.

  • 16 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:09 PM

Sorry should be 8 friendlies , I forgot Borussia Moenchengladbach

  • 17 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:12 PM

My comments were not directed at you.
They were just a general view.
If you go back one , you will see it’s a repost .
Everyone takes things so freakin personal .

  • 18 Ibizatoon // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:19 PM

Jib…I did see the original post. I had intended to quote you in my post. Wasn’t taking anything personally.

Does your theory on what would be irresponsible not get a little mixed up with what Charnley said back in January? I.e, the head coach has some input, but mainly they want to know about his style and philosophy, rather than which players he wants based on his “knowledge built up over seasons , of players he has had playing for him , and against his sides.”

  • 19 will die for the toon army // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:23 PM

And that’s the only one that can give any sort of indication.

  • 21 mindshaft // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:28 PM

Bizarre that we aren’t being linked with a decent CB , especially when we need at least two !!

  • 22 Mister Tuff // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:28 PM

mag52 – throughout the season I’ll will try to compare/evaluate the abilities or lack of abilities – the coaching or lack of coaching between what Wally churns out and what your top manager (King Percy) churned out.
I will try to take account of new players brought in.
I’m sure other posters and Toon fans may also do similar comparisons or comment upon the attributes or lack of attributes of both.
It is a legitimate exercise. You may not do it as I suspect that shock horror Wally may be a better coach than Percy and you will not want to hear objective assessments when historically your subjective assessments of your hero may turn out to 180 degrees out.
Embrace the truth and be open minded.

  • 23 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:28 PM

Look at the subject of this article ,Aaron Tshibola

  • 24 will die for the toon army // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:33 PM

Thats why I dont believe in those rumours.

  • 25 Ibizatoon // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:36 PM

Jib…Quite honestly, I didn’t even read the article, I rarely do these days. I do note that you said “look at the subject of the article”, but doing my due dilligence I kept going.

Where do I think it came from?

“The Mirror is reporting that both Newcastle and Aston Villa are interested in the youngster, who has made just one senior appearance for Reading.

That came at the start of last season, when he came on against Nottingham Forest as a late substitute in the 4-0 thrashing.

Honestly Jib, if you’re going to send me somewhere to gain some info, make sure you’ve checked it yourself first.

Another tip – try not to use transfer speculation to prove a point. More often than not it wont go too well.

  • 26 JDdubai // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:40 PM

We will only get 1 CB max unless someone is moved out.

Colo(on big wages), Saylor(on canny wages), Willo, Dummett, Lascelles….we will only bring in 1 guy until 1 or 2 of those are moved on. Reckon it will be 1 this summer and 1 next when Colo, Willo and Saylor are out of contract.

  • 27 ilovetoon8788 // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:40 PM

We’ll struggle to compete with even Shrewsbury in the transfer market

  • 28 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:43 PM

    minshaft and will die
You both think we need CB’s and that is fair enough everyone is entitled to their opinion.
However the only opinion that truly counts now is SM’s , and he may think with Lascelles ,Good ,Dummett ,Williamson ,Coloccini ,Satka and Macaulay Gillesphey we have enough cover

  • 29 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:43 PM

How come Jib isnt posting anymore, is he banned or something ?

  • 30 JDdubai // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:47 PM

Quality not quantity, with those u mentioned, and Saylor who you left out, we had one of the worst defences in the league last season.

Just because we have a few who play there doesnt mean they are good enough.

We had the same argument a season or so ago with wingers. We had HBa, sammy, gouffran, ferguson, jonas etc and people said we had enough.

We need a big, takes no shit CB to organise and shout at everyone.

  • 31 Lindisfarne // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:49 PM

Despite regularly calling for the Cheapskate to get his wallet out, I find it ironic that the wallet in question belongs to the Club and has sufficient funds to invest for itself. The aspiration of ‘being able to wipe our own noses’ has arrived, it is just that the supply of tissues has ceased through cost cutting.

  • 32 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:50 PM

Jeepers I forgot Janmaat and Saylor

  • 33 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:52 PM

    Thanks for the tip

  • 34 Lindisfarne // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:53 PM

Does your point of view extend as far as saying that we should continue to rely dominantly on Collo, Willo and Taylor, whilst gradually introducing Laschelles and Good?

  • 35 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Jul 3, 2015 at 6:59 PM

We need a proper CB Colo and Willamson are not good enough and neither is Taylor ! Although playing with a younger guy with pace might make Colo good for a season or 2

  • 36 lesh // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:01 PM

Communication’s not one of Charnley’s strengths. Despite that, it is his responsibility to ensure that Club-fan communication is effective.

As is, he’s doing and done bugger all.

He’s obviously the sort who says things and hopes that time’ll pass and whatever he’s committed to’ll be forgotten about.

He’s got to understand that that just won’t do.

  • 37 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:03 PM

I see Lascelles as not needing much time to replace Willo and Saylor with decent coaching could improve , he is only 29.
Colo is back to San Lorenzo in January so by winter window we’ll have a better idea.

  • 38 Lindisfarne // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:05 PM

It would be good to hear the Fans Forum release another announcement encouraging fans to attend (inside or out) and the main points that they will be seeking credible answers to.

  • 39 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:11 PM

Regardless of how good Lascaselles may or may not be we desperately need to get shot of a threesome of players that have made one of the worst defences consitently over the last four years. FFS a blind man on a galloping horse can see that.

  • 40 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:12 PM

Lindisfarne, the fans forum is an inconvenience that the club will pay lip service to.

  • 41 Lindisfarne // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:13 PM

So you would like to see us starting the new season with Collo and Taylor/Laschelles as the main Centre Backs.

How does using three quarters of the same defensive pairing that has proved itself to be incapable of keeping a clean sheet without the use of a robust midfield, for the last three seasons, address the issue of learning lessons and an aspiration for success?

  • 42 Lindisfarne // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:18 PM

    Jail for Ashley

The Fans Forum will more than likely focus their questions yet again on short term issues, rather than trying to implant and identify its own usefulness in contriving a better relationship with the clubs supporters.

  • 43 lesh // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:21 PM

The Forum might be an irritation to Charnley and he’ll pay lip service to it for as long as he can get away with it.

Now that’s where the fan reps can make a difference by giving him a hard time next week.

Answers to the open letter’d be a good start!

  • 44 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:23 PM

The club will answer the selected questions of its choosing.

  • 45 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:27 PM

What’s happened to that irritant Jib, I haven’t seen him post for about two days now.

  • 46 Tsunki // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:32 PM

Simple logic to let Mclaren look at his team play 8 friendlies and 4 premier games before deciding who to buy? Eh? Simple minded maybe. I think no matter where Steve was in the world while we were desperately hanging on to leagues status, he would have got a reasonable idea of the chaff that needed blowing out of the club. And he would have easily identified what replacements needed to come in. After all, we did. And he’s an expert.

  • 47 Tsunki // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:34 PM

Jail, I don’t know who this Jib is. New is he?

  • 48 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:36 PM

I never said that , it could be Good and Satka for all I care , I trust SM to coach and pick the best pairing.
    Jail for Ashley
You were one of those that used the buzz word “Pardewed”. Did you believe it or not ?
If you used it and meant it than you must acknowledge that players have room for improvement .

  • 49 Tsunki // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:36 PM

No let’s just see how Stevie ‘The Magician’ Mac waves his wand and sprinkle pixie dust over our raggedy team and turn it into a top 6 side without buying anyone.

  • 50 GeordieTwo // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:37 PM

I still say fonging is the answer. Get down to the ground and just fong any management or staff you come across. Be methodical. It’s good work if you can get it.

  • 51 GeordieTwo // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:39 PM

Show up every day at about 9 am and give them a good hour’s fonging. Explain patiently where necessary why this is needed. No explanations required for Lee. He knows why.

  • 52 GeordieTwo // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:41 PM

We could also set up traps to catch them at the end of the day as they make their way home. I carry a lightweight fongbat at all times. You never know when you might meet one of them in the streets. Soon they’ll understand the gravity of the situation. Some will leave the club. Others will wear disguises. Be prepared lads.

  • 53 GeordieTwo // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:42 PM

  • 54 Shot Bru // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:42 PM

Why on earth would any promising young player consider signing for NUFC and agree to go straight into ‘Beardsleys development squad’..Mental!!

  • 55 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:42 PM

I was never one to use the term Pardewed very often, it was more the A badge poster Rotunda who has an obsession with the silver haired wearer of silly glasses. Of course players have room for improvement but STaylor is broken, Collo doesn’t want to be here and Willo isn’t good enough to be in the starting line up.

  • 56 Belfast // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:43 PM

You have went from the no signings because the window isn’t open excuse, to contracts don’t end until 30th June excuse and now McClaren needs to play friendlies and properly assess the squad before he can make signings excuse?

  • 57 Tsunki // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:48 PM

Wait for the ‘other teams have much worse squads’ excuse

  • 58 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:49 PM

    I haven’t “went” anywhere
The contracts ending 30th June and window opening 1st July is the same thing.
I also mentioned the copa as well
But I have always stated that McClaren needs time to see the squad train and play.

  • 59 Belfast // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:50 PM

I reckon McLaren had been through our squad with a fine tooth comb within 48 hours of getting the job, and he’s new for weeks who he wants to keep and who he wants to get rid off.

  • 60 Big Pappa Cissé // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:52 PM

Am I the only one really looking forward to seeing a fully fit De Jong this season ? .

I remember watching him destroy Man City with Ajax and have been a big fan ever since. Got a feeling he will hit double figures if he stays fit .

  • 61 Belfast // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:52 PM

And he’s probably as frustrated as everybody else about the lack of signings.

  • 62 GeordieTwo // Jul 3, 2015 at 7:53 PM

And now for the eagerly awaited first interview:
G2: Nice to meet you Schteve. You don’t mind if I call you Schteve do you mate?
Schteve: Not at all. I’ve been called worse things har har.
G2: Right then Schtevie-Poo let’s get right down to the prickly end of things. You’ve been brought in to stop the rot at the club. Correct?
Schteve: Well I wouldn’t put it that way G2. I’m here to run the club in a way that will make it successful, such that we can win things.
G2: That sounds lovely Schtevearino but what does that actually mean as far as player recruitment, rebuilding the squad, actually having a squad is concerned?
Schteve: Well errrmmm…..yes I could see how you would want to know those things. Yes……I will give them some thought and let you know……but right now I have to be off. This interview is starting to make me sweat heavily.
G2: Cheerio then SchteveO. Well that was so refreshing after the years with Percy. Harrumph.

Needs to see the squad train? And PLAY??? Ha ha ha my sides…. what for? If he’s the idiot that needs to see right up close how bad this lot are he won’t be needing the dvd analysis then.

‘ yes, I realise this is the same hapless bunch of nitwits, ne’r-do-wells and slack jawed idlers that went on one of the most horrific downward spirals in club history, but let’s not jump to any hasty conclusions about their lack of ability’

I mean “did well” is such an inexact term. We skirted disaster for a bit, didn’t sign anyone in January, had a complete pillock as head coach, but other than that what are people complaining aboot?

  • 75 GeordieTwo // Jul 3, 2015 at 8:11 PM

Well I’m excited even if you lot aren’t. Seeing the lads being introduced to a football was a beautiful thing. Brought tears to my eyes. Obie looked a bit unsure about the whole experience but some of the lads eventually recognized what it was and began trying to kick it.

  • 76 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 8:16 PM

I think Steve McClaren is the first PROPER manager we have had since SBR
Sir Bobby was appointed September 1999

The first player he bought of any note was Carl Cort £7 million from Wimbledon (I thought he was crap , 4 years 22 games) July 2000
The next player he bought of any note was Laurent Robert £9.5 from PSG in AUGUST 2001 ffs , 23 months after being appointed.
He THEN bought quality regularly but only if they fitted his plan he never bought just for the sake of it.
To recap , his 1st 2 years he hardly touched the squad and got 2 ,11th places the next 3 years he got 4th 3rd and 5th

  • 77 GeordieTwo // Jul 3, 2015 at 8:16 PM

So to summarize the days posts mates. It looks like the following: we’re very excited about the lads finally recognizing the football, we would prefer a few decent signings sooner rather than later, and we’re already a bit doubtful about Steve’s statements that he needs time to assess the team. I’m excited by that. In fact I’m willing to rescind the fonging for today only, as a sign of good faith.

I remember De Jong playing for Ajax was amazing in the Champions League totally dominated City

He is not that pacy but when you have a footballing brain you dont need pace if you play as a no 10

I will say though you have to play pass and move with high pressing to get the best out of him lets hope Stevie boy sets us up properly !!

Carl Cort is probably one of those really unlucky footballers in terms of injuries, bit like Dean Ashton. Cort could have a good career at premier league level if it wasn’t for some really bad injuries.

  • 84 Mag52 // Jul 3, 2015 at 8:36 PM

    Mister Tuff,

As I desperately want SM to succeed in the season ahead, I’ll try to be as open minded as I can.

  • 85 adrichh // Jul 3, 2015 at 8:39 PM

its nice that Newcastle wants some young talented lads , but cmon by now we should have sign at least 2-3 players :S every team in Premier league did … :/

  • 86 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 8:41 PM

SBR made signings immediately as does SM.

  • 87 Ibizatoon // Jul 3, 2015 at 8:45 PM

Isn’t McLaren a head coach and specifically not a “proper manager”?

Sir Bobby did join in September 1999 (for the 99/00 season). For that season, the club purchased:

    Season 99/00
    Daniel Cordone £500,000
    Christian Bassedas £3,500,000
    Diego Gavilan £2,000,000
    Kevin Gallacher £500,000
    Fumaca Signed
    John Karelse £800,000
    Jonny Brain Signed
    Kieron Dyer £6,500,000
    Franck Dumas £500,000
    Elena Marcelino £5,800,000
    Alain Goma £4,700,000

    Then in the 00/01 Season…

    Andy O’Brien £2,000,000
    Wayne Quinn £800,000
    Clarence Acuna £1,000,000
    Pedro Dimas Free
    Lomano LuaLua £2,250,000
    Olivier Bernard Free
    Carl Cort £7,000,000

    01/02 You ask?

    Hugo Viana £8,500,000
    Jermaine Jenas £5,000,000
    Laurent Robert £9,500,000
    Robbie Elliott Free
    Craig Bellamy £6,000,000

So, to recap, McClaren, not a “manager” and Sir Bobby did in fact touch the squad in those first 2 seasons. Perhaps just not with players that Jib believes were “of any note”.

G2 80 haaaa, love a good tracking. Railroading and tracking as a special treat to myself after a hard week at work mate.

  • 89 belgrade fan // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:05 PM

That MS interview just shows that man is ready to do everything just to make profit and take money from fans. He is even ready to damage himself, which will happen if we fail this window again, just to make short term profit. Do not renew season tickets, man is insulting intelligence of every NUFC fan

  • 90 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:08 PM

Google jeff comes second best in a Friday night Google off !

  • 91 Sazzer // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:09 PM

It’s correct that Sir Bobby had no new signings to work with for couple of months however that was because he couldn’t sign anybody for a couple of months.

    Season had already started.

  • 92 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:10 PM

Ibiza all you do with that list is prove you are are plastic fan who doesn’t really know much about the Toon
Dyer and the rest were Ruud Gullits signings in the main.

  • 93 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:14 PM

The most expensive signing in the first ever January window:

    No cheating.

  • 96 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:20 PM

    Whose jeff

  • 97 check the toastie // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:24 PM

For me the only major problem at this club has been the manager Pardew (nob) and NON coaching staff, it has been resolved eventually, yep Ashley a shit for not wasting his own money, but now we need proper quality to improve the team, I hope we get it but the likes of Austin, Ince, Dan Bost, Ballotelli,

In Graham Carr we trust, I reckon mistakes won’t be made.
Thauvin, Matip, Widhildhum or something like that, plus two more first team regulars will do eh…?

  • 98 Jib // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:25 PM

    If you mean who’s Jeff
    I have no idea

  • 99 Macas // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:25 PM

Robson’s first signings were Gallagher and Helder on loan as far as I can remember. Gallagher gave great value and I liked that Helder, wish we could have signed him, had a touch of class about him.

  • 100 Belfast // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:27 PM

Kilcline from what I’ve seen of Thavin I wasn’t impressed at all. Another could be maybe player. Another internet sensation in my opinion. Probably no better than Cabella. Who was also labelled world class on here.

  • 101 Jail for Ashley // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:43 PM

How come Jib hasn’t posted for awhile, he definitely must be banned !

  • 102 Ibizatoon // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:46 PM

Actually Jib, I don’t think that’s what I did at all.

I think what that list proved was that you’re talking rubbish.

The implication being that McClaren would be better off not going out and buying players, but to assess the squad over time and not to buy “just for the sake of it”.

Still, it’s all irrelevant. McClaren is the HC, not the manager, and he does not have final say on transfers….according to the club.

Which was my original point earlier, the one you haven’t addressed, which is why are we assuming the setup has changed, when the club haven’t said it has?

Why insist on trying to find excuses for them? They aren’t.

Still, I sit and wait eagerly to learn more from a real Newcastle fan.

  • 103 Kris // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:47 PM

    @ kilcline

Evans and Cisse on the same team? 😛 Although dosn’t think he is better than what we already have. Shawcross would be a good signing, but why would he come here? Stoke has more ambition than us in the moment.

    Ashley Out !

  • 107 swemag // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:56 PM

Agree with Belfast on Thauvin, only checked youtube, but that is supposed to be the highlights of his year…quick feet but very little end product it seemed to me. Aarons looks a lot better.
But, who should we be looking at?
Definitely a striker, a defender and a creative mid would be the lost important thing. With all the players back, that meaning de Jong, Aarons, Tiote and Cisse I would rather spend 40-50 million on three quality signings than going for depth.
Squad players we have, cutting edge we do not have enough of. I would even say Vuckic is a PL squad player. Yes, I still did not give up on him.

  • 108 swemag // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:58 PM

Just checked the pics from the trainings on the official site. Lascelles looks like a monster. Walking next to Anita, he must be 40 cm taller.

  • 109 Sazzer // Jul 3, 2015 at 9:59 PM

I bet the first January signing question was easy for you.

  • 110 Macas // Jul 3, 2015 at 10:01 PM

Ibiza – To be fair Jib had a point about Robson’s signings, most of them were fairly low key to start with. The first big signings were Cort and Bassedas, before his second season in charge, and both were hopeless.

  • 111 Macas // Jul 3, 2015 at 10:03 PM

Sazzer – What do you mean?

  • 112 Macas // Jul 3, 2015 at 10:08 PM

Sazzer – Oh, I scrolled back up now, would be nice to have someone of his quality in defence next season

  • 113 Sazzer // Jul 3, 2015 at 10:10 PM

yes sorry i was totally 100% responsible for the sack pardew campaign, it was just me, I acted alone, no one else felt the same, just me.

  • 118 Macas // Jul 3, 2015 at 10:20 PM

Ibiza – I believe it was part of what he was saying

  • 119 Ibizatoon // Jul 3, 2015 at 10:28 PM

Macas…Can you explain it any further then?

  • 120 Macas // Jul 3, 2015 at 10:30 PM

Ibiza – I believe e was saying how Robson did well simply by making existing players play better without signing that many top signings to begin with

  • 121 Ibizatoon // Jul 3, 2015 at 10:36 PM

Macas…So it wasn’t a case of “hardly touched the squad”,but more to do with the lack of top players he signed in those early days and “never bought just for the sake of it”?

  • 122 Sav // Jul 4, 2015 at 2:44 AM

The wheels are falling off the cart because it is taking so effing long to back the horse out of the stable.
I thought horses bolted (before the stable door shuts) and not that they are ‘bolted on’?? Unless this is supposed to be a mechanical horse or what? I think, Mashley, you are a horse’s arse and you have been talking through it.

  • 123 The overrated Frenchman // Jul 4, 2015 at 8:25 AM

The fact that Ashley has seemingly left our fate in the hands of Charnley and Carr speaks volumes. How long would they last in their jobs under another owner, somebody (or some organisation) who really had ambition for the club? Sports Direct United we truly are…
