Newcastle Bid €15M For Uruguayan International striker

There is a report in France that Newcastle have bid €15M for Bordeaux’s 22 year-old striker Diego Rolan, but that Bordeaux do not want to sell their prized asset, who Newcastle were linked with over a year ago.

The bid of €15M is around £10.6M, and is being reported in the French Daily Sud Quest, and Bordeaux are saying the offer is simply not big enough for them to part with their top striker who scored 16 goals in 38 appearances

He joined Bordeaux from Defensor Sporting two years ago and while at Defensor he played 41 time with 11 goals and 4 assists.

In September last year Rolan made his debut for Uruguay in a friendly win against Japan in Sapporo, and his first International goal came in a 2–1 away victory over Chile last November.

In May of this year Rolan was included in Uruguay’s squad for the 2015 Copa America by coach Oscar Tabarez, and  he has so far received 6 full caps and scored one goal for his country.

Newcastle have had no success yet in signing three of their top striker targets this summer in Charlie Austin of QPR, Wolfsburg’s Bas Dost and Aleksandar Mitrovic who’s at Anderlecht.

Maybe the Magpies are now moving after other strikers on their target list – Diego Roan being one of them.

The report suggests that if Rolan does leave Bordeaux the French club would go after 23 year-old Ghanaian International Jordan Ayew, the younger brother of Andre who recently signed for Swansea and was a Newcastle target this summer.

It’s not known whether Newcastle will go back in for an improved bid for the 22 year-old striker.

I have a bit more faith in the opinions of the new backroom staff than carver and pards on players

that said I don’t think we bought players that suited how pards likes to play
I don’t think marv was a bad player before we got him in and didn’t we nick him from Liverpool
but then no1 decent club has come in and tried to loan him so who knows

Players from the French leagues struggle as we know too well.
At 5’9″ this kid will not resolve the lack of height and
heading ability up front. This stinks of Graham Carr again and his impaired judgement.

Hope tis on isn’t true. I just listened to Talksport interview wit their foreign transfer expert and he recons Rolan is trouble and causes upset in the dressing room. So much so in fact that his club gave him the last three weeks off to keep him away from the club?!
