Newcastle In Talks To Sign Wijnaldum – A Deal Is Close

11:09 pm, Sunday, July 5th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 120 Comments

The Mirror are reporting tonight that Georginio Wijnaldum is in talks with Newcastle United over a £15M transfer, and this is consistent with their Sunday People report today that Newcastle are closing in on the transfer of the 24 year-old Dutch International,  who returns to training for PSV on Monday.

Georginio Wijnaldum -529052

Georginio Wijnaldum – close to a deal

Sunderland are again confirmed to have dropped out of the bidding last week – for whatever reason, but Newcastle still face competition from other clubs, but at least it seems we are starting negotiations.

Wijnaldum was left out of the PSV team for their pre-season friendly against SV DOSKO which they won 6-0 – and some said that was because of the pending move, but that was a red herring.

It would be very strange if he did play, since he returns to training tomorrow, having played for the Holland side this summer in the Euro 2016 qualifier.

Tim Krul and Daryl Janmaat also return to Newcastle training tomorrow.

Sources in Holland are telling the Mirror that Georginio is close to signing for a “prestigious Premier League club”

That has to be Newcastle United – obviously.

It is thought Newcastle are leading the chase for the 19 times capped Dutch International and are negotiating with PSV on a fee – which is still quoted to be a rather high £15M.

But maybe that’s €15M which is around £10.6M using today’s exchange rate of 0.71 pounds/euro.

But that exchange rate will be less when the markets open tomorrow, with Greece having voted no on their referendum today, and the markets are excepted to fall, maybe precipitously.

Players in Europe priced in euros will then become cheaper for English clubs.

The Mirror is reporting the talks with PSV are at an early stage – but that doesn’t seem to match what their sources in Holland are telling them – with a move being close.

But it does look like Newcastle are going all out to sign Georginio – so we hope we can pull this one off in the coming week.

Comments welcome.

No the winger who plays for Man Utd looks very decent would be an upgrade on Obertan and Gouffran !!

The young lad we are wanting to sign has promise looks really good in the air

  • 2 optimistic prime // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:15 PM

    Cose to a deal?

No wonder we can’t get them over the line

  • 3 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:16 PM

On the centre back issue I think we will only get one centre back as it stands with Williamson or Taylor to get shifted out

So say its Matip we would then have Colo , Taylor/Williamson , Lascelles and Dummett to play centre back

Unless we could get rid of 2 of them and replace with Matip and that Dunk from Brighton

Cant see Colo being allowed to sit on the bench earning 70k a week can you ??

  • 4 Belfast // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:16 PM

Cmon Ed he was left out because he’s still on his holidays

  • 5 optimistic prime // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:17 PM

If we are getting one CB in, I vote Colo leaves

  • 7 Jib // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:17 PM

Just seen Wijnaldum on Dutch tv

He thought Sunderland were in the Championship
    Ha ha ha
When they asked if he wanted to work with Advocaat
he called him an “oude scheet”
    Ha ha ha

    Lee…Jesse Lingard?

  • 9 WWSBRD // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:18 PM

Haha sorry mate Id love 2 new CBs too but if that were to happen I think we should have them both in before our first match and play them none stop

  • 10 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:20 PM

My hope for this season is we will move on the deadwood and those who cannot give us at least 30 games a season. Maybe even more!

…I know it’s asking alot, but I think as a squad this is our Achilles heel!

  • 11 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:21 PM

Yo…I’ll take those two Lee just called 🙂

  • 12 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:22 PM

Yeah thats the boy ! Not as a first choice but to provide some squad depth

For me centre back and out wide are the 2 main areas where we are really short on quality we always concede cheap goals and our moves break down through poor crosses from the wide areas only really Janmaat has provided crosses

Sissoko has always played his best football for us on the wing but thinks hes a play maker

A proper left winger and a right winger who could both trouble teams would start to free up space in the middle for the likes of Perez , De Jong and Cisse to exploit

  • 13 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:24 PM

Lee…I would have no problem with that! Alot of deadwood I want to move on anyway 🙂

Surely it’d make sense to move Saylor out rather than Willo.

Of the two, Saylor’s injury record’s terrible!

  • 16 optimistic prime // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:27 PM

Someone put saylors games played per season the other week and it was shocking, you’d be lucky if he’s played 50% of games in ten years.

  • 17 optimistic prime // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:28 PM

I wonder what price you’d get for NUFC not selling in this window.

  • 18 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:30 PM

OP…no point keeping a player like that and both Colo and Willo are starting to show the same signs.

Look at their last two seasons.

  • 19 Looney_toon_89 // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:30 PM

This guy is class. Odd first signing though considering our highest priorities must be up front, out wide & back four. I know he can play out wide but it would be a waste like sticking Sissoko out wide. With a 4-4-1-1 formation he would slot in well in a fully fit squad with Colback, Sissoko & De Jong. However I expect to see Sissoko leave if this signing goes ahead, but at the minute Liverpool are the only club with any credible interest, and I would have thought they would be looking for somebody more consistant than Sissoko to help replace Gerrard.

  • 20 Thump // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:33 PM

@op: Bookies won’t take the bet, mate. Said I’d bankrupt them.

Wouldn’t mind but I only wanted to put 50p on it.

  • 21 optimistic prime // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:34 PM

The defence is my biggest gripe.
I’ve never rated Colo, Saylor is of zero use 90% of the time and we’re left with Willo, who tries but isn’t up to it.

I don’t think I’ll be happy until all 3 are gone, I can say that now as I can’t see how we could sign three as ineffective CB’S as those, I’m sure they’ll try though.

  • 22 WWSBRD // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:34 PM

Haha I still think its only a matter of time before we are linked with Dragovic and then fingers crossed its not a false rumour

I think we will enter the new season with Colo, Lascelles, Saylor and someone new if Willo goes but if he doesnt then I dont think we will see anyone new in

  • 23 optimistic prime // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:35 PM

    Dead cert then

  • 24 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:38 PM

Yo…Dragovic is just your kind of player 😉

…can we get him? They can have Colo,Willo and Saylor in return!

  • 25 WWSBRD // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:39 PM

The most annoying thing about Saylor is that without the injuries he would of made a good CB, Id even forgive his Mr Newcastle attitude if he stayed fit but for 10 games a season he fills us with hope then internally ruptures everything and hes done until next go around

  • 26 ToonFromLeeds // Jul 5, 2015 at 11:39 PM

Hi Guys, wide awake now, just thought I would fill you in.

I sent an email to the digest editor asking why he’d taken the site down and he replied.
NUFC had sent an email saying that digest was in breach of some law by printing the email that was sent by Steve McClaren. It said Digest site had to be taken down or NUFC would begin legal proceedings. It was signed by Kevin Bishop.
He took the site down and started a new one called

Btw Ed it’s taken me 20 mins to write this due to the drugs I’ve been given and the bloody annoying ads.

Mike (Liability) Williamson is a riddle wrapped up in a turd masquerading as a professional footballer.
How he managed not only to make it to the Premiership, but to still be there beggars belief.
If he and Colo are still at the club at the end of the window I’ll be gutted, if they’re in line to be our first choice centre backs come the start of the season I hope we get relegated!

Journos getting confused in Austins injury. He failed it at Hull because of his knee….
However, he did actually fail his medical at QPR because of his shoulder, think it knocked about 10% of the fee and they decided to sign him anyway

  • 49 mickycallaghan // Jul 6, 2015 at 1:11 AM

Does nobody else think this lad is set to be a replacement for mussa after liverpool are eyeing him up for apparently £17mill
MA will not spend £15mill on a player even of this quality without getting the money in from elsewhere
this will be a straight replacement and will turn a profit (the mike ashley way)
he does look a quality player so i do hope we sign him but obviously that ‘war chest’ put aside is for a defender and a striker (and potentially a few young prospects on the cheap)
id be surprised if it can afford more

  • 50 Sydney Toon // Jul 6, 2015 at 2:03 AM

  • 51 ron kasorga // Jul 6, 2015 at 2:30 AM

Frankly speaking, if nothing go through on the transfer market then NUFC got to use what we have :
    GK Elliot/Darlow
    CB, Good Lascelles
    LB Dummet
    RB Janmaat

    MF Sissoko/Abeid
    CM Colback/Anita
    MF Obertan/Aarons

    LF Riverie/Goufran
    CF Sisse/Toney
    RF Perez/Armstrong

Hopefully Under SM PS and with the help of Motivation Guru SB….this line up will be on fire for the good reasons. Beautiful football does not warrant any trophy but teamwork and intelligence wins championship !

  • 52 expatmag // Jul 6, 2015 at 2:35 AM

One of the first names on the teamsheet, I would imagine.

  • 53 expatmag // Jul 6, 2015 at 2:39 AM

    Janmaat Lascelles Coloccini Haidara

    Wijnaldum DeJong Colback

    Sissoko Cisse Aarons

Darlow Taylor Dummett Anita Perez Cabella Tiote

  • 54 expatmag // Jul 6, 2015 at 2:50 AM

As per the above squad if Wijnaldum signed and Sissoko remains, as back up, the following could be used:

Vukic Williamson Ferguson Gouffran Riviere Bigi Abeid Satka Good Armstrong Mbau Ameobi Elliott Woodman Marveaux Kemen

There is some possible deadwood to get rid of here and some youngsters who could be loaned out.

Personally, I would try and sell Tiote Elliott Vukic Ferguson Williamson and Marveaux. Loan out Woodman Armstrong Satka Bigi and Kemen with a condition of return if needed.

Buy a quality CF, not Austin, a top notch CH and Will Hughes from Derby

  • 55 We are the mags // Jul 6, 2015 at 3:04 AM

Ive read on a couple of other papers that the toon have not even approached PSV for wijaldum,
and i wouldn’t be at all surprised if that wasn’t the truth,
as much as i want to believe all theses players have been approached i just cannot and its been the same old story year after year and i think ashley knows he is pushing his luck hence the interview at the end of the season my beloved club is the laughing stock of the footballing world and so are the supporters for swallowing this transfer drivvle year upon year so from now on seeing is believing , the proof in the pudding, actions louder than words and all that, i so hope im wrong just thought id have a little rant,HWTL

    @we are the mags

I saw sky sports put out an article saying Wijnaldum had not been approached but then withdrew it.

If you try and find that article now it doesn’t exist. For sky to delete an article like that means there must be something in all this talk of Wijnaldum coming. I hope so. He is a very good player.

  • 62 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Jul 6, 2015 at 5:40 AM

“That club has to be Newcastle United -obviously “?

Are you completely off you Trolley, WHY is it so Obvious ?

That Prem club in talks with Wijnhaldum could just as easily be Southampton, Swansea or even Leicester? Swansea are really pissing me off recently! Who ever it is, and we let it known that a certain player is one of our targets, then clubs like Swansea or QPR have always acted quicker and offered better Personal terms or outbid us on the Deal with the result that we get screwed!

A lot of our targets end up in Wales, Ayew,Boney, Beftami and who knows, who else will be going elsewhere instead of coming to Newcastle? Any Dutch targets of ours will be looking at Southampton or Manure before they look at the whole situation at Newcastle and end up going elsewhere?
This is where Ashley has taken the Club and the Money that could be made is more important than the Football itself ? Such a shame !

I can go on record here, and say that there are no reports here in the Dutch Press about a prospective transfer / move for Wijnhaldum? So any stories in UK or on this Blog are just Bull , although i would love us to get him but then heh, i wanted De Boer or Koeman as Trainer too! But that just aint gonna happen with Ashley and Lee Charnley running the Club?

Austin will more than likely end up going elsewhere too ! Wolfsburg are just crazy if they think anyone is going to pay 30Mil for Bas Dorst ? He is just not that good !

I watched the whole competition at the Womens WK in Canada and saw how the England team desrved to beat Japan but was left with a feeling of Pride watching them. Especially when you think that before the whole Tournemant began no-one was giving our girls a chance of doing anything there at all.

Some of the fighting spirit shown by some of the lasses amounted to more effort shown by a lot our first team the whole season last season!
The whole issue of Womans footy here in Holland just aint taken seriously across here, but hopefully that will change in the future?

I am curious to see just what is going to happen with regards to Transfers in the next few weeks?

  • 63 JDdubai // Jul 6, 2015 at 5:52 AM

    Austin, Wijnaldum, Thauvin, Matip

Would love Mitrovic but difference between him and Austin is Austin wont improve much from where he is now but Mitrovic could become world class, hence why he will go to a CL team.

Think im becoming as obsessed with us signing Shawcross as kets was with Alderwereild. Realise it wont happen but think he is just what we need, really dont see why a better club that Stoke havent gone for him, a leader, tall, takes no crap, would organise the back 4.

  • 64 Santon03 // Jul 6, 2015 at 6:02 AM

Probably just Austin and Wijnaldum, and some unknown to fill 25.

I really like to see what SM can do with the same squad.

  • 65 Santon03 // Jul 6, 2015 at 6:05 AM

If the players can stay fit, the team is not that bad.
If Gouffran stayed then I hope he plays as wb right or left since he did more defending than going forward.

  • 66 Santon03 // Jul 6, 2015 at 6:09 AM

I don’t really know much about SM managing style, will he play young players or not?

  • 67 JDdubai // Jul 6, 2015 at 6:10 AM

Just trying to remember what it was like to have a straight forward transfer, no Complications, no long drawn out saga etc….

does everything seem more like a saga because of social media and all the bullsh1t rumours starting way in advance of actual interest? Or is it we are just b3llends?

  • 68 JDdubai // Jul 6, 2015 at 6:11 AM

Actually its ok, i know the answer.

  • 69 Santon03 // Jul 6, 2015 at 6:17 AM

The club didn’t announce who was in their shortlist who was their target to public. The media keep coming up with it, even before SM and his team in place. SM just met his team few days ago but the transfer rumours started last month, SM hasn’t decide who will go or stay in his team and what kind of players needed to add this current team. Different from liverpool, arsenal, manu, city, they have the same managers from last season, they already know what they need.

  • 70 Santon03 // Jul 6, 2015 at 6:28 AM

I hope the youngsters have more chances under SM, like Abeid, Satka, Armstrong, etc.

  • 71 JDdubai // Jul 6, 2015 at 6:28 AM

There is that santon no doubt, was thinking more over the last year or 2 as well though.

Think the level of crap being knocked about social media has increased so much it is making things much worse, too many people take made up twitter rumours as gospel and get angry when we dont go for them even though they are never targets.

  • 72 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 6, 2015 at 6:29 AM

  • 80 lochinvar // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:00 AM

Clearly Ashley will sign players such as Georginio Wijnaldum – as he will boost Sales revenue – with 18 letters in his name we’ll make a fortune in the club shop with transfers for his name onto shirts.

  • 81 firebug666 // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:00 AM

So still no news on the transfer front, These conflicting rumours about targets and talks only serve to unsettle the fans.

On Bishops letter to NUFCDigest requesting they close their site for publishing SM letter to the fans, bollocks is what I say, the letter was out in the public domain from various fans within minutes of it being received, It was even published by one fan on this site.

I would also argue, Why should this letter just go out to selected fans? Why was SM not speaking to the masses? Why was this information not released as a public statement?

Does the club feel it has something to hide? Is everything they do clouded in secrecy and intrigue?

If it’s true then NUFC digest should make public the letter they received from Newcastle, if they will not take Newcastle to task over these threats of legal action, then publish the letter and let the fans take up the mantle.

There is far too much of this from Newcastle, trying to ride roughshod over the fans. The fightback started last season, do not lose the momentum or let the idiots in charge regain the upper hand.

  • 82 lochinvar // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:06 AM

And Bournmouth will pay £14m for Austin ?
No coincidence then that Uncle Harry is in the background as a neighbour down at Sandbanks ensuring that Charlie and his missus will enjoy an easy life down on the south coast. No influence the then ?
“Oh I do like to be beside the sea side, I do like to be beside the sea….”

  • 85 Ron Knee // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:09 AM

Has NUFC’s threatening letter been published somewhere?

  • 86 Jail for Ashley // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:11 AM

When the club release a statement that is either a blatant lie or at best a gross manipulation of the truth, you tend to not only believe it but defend it as the right thing to do. When, in a rare moment of clarity they release a statement on cup and transfer policy, you choose not to believe it and give us your own version of events. Despite the club telling us that the transfer policy is a long drawn out affair over a process of a couple of years and we will only pursue long term targets, you have now decided that this is all about to be scrapped so SM can decide who he needs to bring in.

Ron…not that we know of. Nufcdigest has been taken down. I suppose whoever runs got a bit of a scare!

  • 88 firebug666 // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:16 AM

Like I said mate, if it’s true; and Bishop sent a threatening letter forcing either the removal of the site or legal action, I would take the legal action every time.

What exactly did NUFCDigest do? They published a letter allegedly sent to fans by McClaren. The letter was already in public domain.

The letter itself contain naff all really, just a load more empty promises of what they are hoping to achieve. It’s not some top secret document, and the press have published a better class of rubbish.

If it was my site being threatened, my reply would be simple; “See You In Court”.

  • 89 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:16 AM

    *runs it

  • 90 Ron Knee // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:17 AM

I’m trying to understand on what basis the club can demand the site’s closure. I don’t see why the site can’t publish a letter already in the public domain.

  • 91 Ron Knee // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:20 AM

Agreed. The club would look (even more) stupid if they tried to sue the site. What are the grounds for demanding the site’s closure? Copyright?

  • 92 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:22 AM

Ron…I don’t know your law well enough to give an answer, but that’s a very good question!

…it seems who ever runs nufcdigest got a bit of a scare and did as NUFC demanded.

Anyone runs a law firm? 🙂

  • 93 firebug666 // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:25 AM

How can they have a copyright on an email send out to thousands of fans?

If the letter is fake then they could ask you take it down, or ask you to publish a denial from the club, but as nufcdigest are not the author of the letter they cannot sue them or close their site. They could simply just ask them to remove the letter.

Something else must be going on here but we shall have to wait for either TFL to give some clarification, or maybe someone from the site. But on what I have read so far, the whole thing stinks.

  • 94 Ron Knee // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:26 AM

The letter was published on this site. Maybe Ed should start worrying!

  • 95 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:27 AM

firebug…try to contact the guy who runs the site. Swemag posted his new domain last night!

  • 96 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:28 AM

Ron…maybe Ed told them I’ll see you in the US court’ 😉 lol

  • 97 JamesToon // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:32 AM

@NUFC_Stats: Chronicle: NUFC are understood now to be waiting on a decision from PSV star Georginio Wijnaldum #nufc

@NUFC_Vine: Benfica, Porto & AS Roma fail to meet Mitrovic’s €18m/£12.7m asking price. #NUFC are the only club willing to pay it.

We may see some action this week, Cashley gambling the euro would sink and therefore players cost about 10% less when the markets open……great time for buying from eurozone

  • 99 Ron Knee // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:32 AM

    Happy days for the lawyers!

  • 100 firebug666 // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:34 AM

Did Ed publish it on a thread? I know it was put on here by one of the recipients of the email.

The big question is why was it emailed to a selected minority?

Why was it not a public announcement?

What have they got to hide?

There is nothing in the letter of any importance, so why all the fuss from Newcastle?

I might sent an email to see if I can get some info, I’m not bothered about the site itself as I have never even visited it, but it’s the way it has been bullied off line (according to TFL) that has my blood boiling.

By the way “Get well soon TFL.”

  • 101 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:36 AM

Ron..and when you thought Newcastle couldn’t sink any lower they go and pull this stunt! 🙁

  • 102 Ron Knee // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:37 AM

We need more information about this.

  • 103 Toonfan8 // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:38 AM

if we can bring Mitrovic,Wijnaldum and Rolán…that is definetely good sign, players with a lot of potential, we need to bring these type of players, young and hungry…

  • 104 Ron Knee // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:39 AM

    Always full of surprises, NUFC.
I’d like to see this threatening communication from Bishop.

  • 105 firebug666 // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:45 AM

I agree, but this is exactly the type of stunts we are use to from our club.

The whole club has turned into a real life soap opera, you get months of silence, where all the action is internal fighting over who’s turn it is to make the coffee, and who’s paying for the take away, then all of a sudden they poke their head out of the door and shout abuse at a few passers by before skulking back into the their protective shell.

  • 106 Ron Knee // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:48 AM

From the little I’ve seen of the site they just re-hash what’s in the Chronic, etc.

  • 107 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:49 AM

firebug…you’re a stand up guy mate!

    I fully agree with you.

  • 108 firebug666 // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:54 AM

That was the impression I got on here, They never actually published anything written by themselves.

I want to see this letter allegedly from Bishop too. I would love to know what laws they allegedly broke. But more than anything I would love to here from the club, so much so that I think I will write to them, or maybe not them but MA and ask for clarification on why they wanted the site shut down.

Will I get a reply? I doubt it but think I will write anyway, to both parties.

  • 109 firebug666 // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:55 AM

Thanks mate, it’s nice to here.

  • 110 SuperShearer // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:57 AM

The whole thing with the legal threat about the Mag is massive BS. Know a guy who used to write for a sports website, they got legal threats from clubs all the time and simply ignored them. If you reference the source, ie this is an email from NUFC to their supporters, there is no copyright infringement. If the story is true than the editor was naive to take the site down and fell for hollow threats from essentially bully boy lawyers.

  • 111 firebug666 // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:58 AM

Right I have to go now, but I will write to them and let you know what happens.

  • 112 Ron Knee // Jul 6, 2015 at 7:59 AM

    Good luck, mate!

  • 113 Ron Knee // Jul 6, 2015 at 8:00 AM

It’s not The Mag. It’s another website.

  • 114 JDdubai // Jul 6, 2015 at 8:01 AM

Ha my mate just said they had Austin staying with them this week, forgot to tell me! Total muppet, was only 5 mins away from my work too, easily within acceptable stalking distance.

  • 115 SuperShearer // Jul 6, 2015 at 8:12 AM

Fair enough, which ever site it is. People who can afford to keep a lawyer on retainer do this all the time. They call up their lawyer and say “This person has done x,y and z” the lawyer says “They’ve done nothing we can sue them for, however I can write them a threatening letter that will most likely scare them enough to diciest from what they’re doing”. The site in question would have been better sticking to their guns, no judge would have ruled in the clubs favour on that case.

  • 116 Toonfan8 // Jul 6, 2015 at 8:15 AM

if we can bring Wijnaldum in, i would be over the moon, he will be best player bought under the M.Ashley regime so far…

  • 117 Jib // Jul 6, 2015 at 8:32 AM

The Telegraaf is one of the most respected papers in Holland. They are saying Newcastle are really serious about Wijnaldum and are prepared to pay the asking price.
Quite insightfully they are painting this as a make or break moment for MA so early in SM’s tenure because this kid is a long time favourite of McClaren’s and he wants to build a team around him and Ashley needs a successful coaching team to get the fans back onside

  • 118 hibbit // Jul 6, 2015 at 8:45 AM

i dont get why this letter came from bishop the club have a full legal team just seems odd to me

  • 119 estechco // Jul 6, 2015 at 8:48 AM

    @117 – You’ve got to love Google Translate…

Ashley is now convinced that he has to make a big purchase to the sulking supporters, which is becoming louder protests against him to silence. Ashley itself can hardly do more good for the fans. The new coach McClaren still has some credit.

  • 120 Jib // Jul 6, 2015 at 8:53 AM

The NUFCdigest was a nasty spiteful site with not one good word to say about the Toon , however that in itself is not a crime.
I read a few pieces on it remarking on Ashley’s accountancy practices and thought to myself “I hope you have that right , cos if not that is actionable”
If it has been libellous then the author had better look out , Mr Ashley can be a very vindictive fella , I’d be getting me house and car in the wifes name if I were him !!!!

I think people blur the line between Social media like Twatter where you can get away with loads of stuff and blogs which have much stricter regulations.
