Reports – Multiple Signings To Be Made By Newcastle

Since Newcastle have had no success so far this season,  it would be good if we can do a double signing next week,  before we play our first pre-season game at Gateshead on Friday night.

And we reported earlier today we have  bid 15M for Charlie Austin, and with Sunderland having dropped out of the race for Georginio Wijnaldum Newcastle are in pole position to sign him.

paul dummett charlie austin

Charlie Austin – can we rally get this striker in?

We are also supposed to have had a bid lodged for long term target Florian Thauvin, plus his team-mate at Marseilles – 22 year-old French U21 midfielder Mario Lemina.

We hope those reports are true, but of course it is Sunday, when we tend to get a lot more stories on transfers about to be completed – to help sell the Sunday papers.

But Sky Sports reporter Pete Graves is tweeting that it’s his understanding that Newcastle have made some very good progress in the last few days, and could announce more than one signing next week.

Here’s Pete’s Twitter account and most of his tweets are associated with Newcastle so you can read them there, and even Luke Edwards of the Telegraph is getting involved in the tweets.

Here are just three of Pete’s tweets – although he is getting challenged by fans that he’s just making these up.

It would be a huge plus for Newcastle and the fans if the club can indeed get two or more top targets into the club next week.

It can happen – keep the faith – even through it’s difficult.

Comments welcome.

They are really trying to get one over the line by tomorrow, not that they really give a sh#te about the Fans Forum. But at least it will get them off the hook in terms of press reports from the event.

    REPOST

If its true that we are in for Georginio Wijnaldum then Sissoko may be surplus to requirements.

In midfield I can see Colback, Wijnaldum, De Jong and Anita (or Tiote if not sold).

On the wings I can see Aarons, Perez, Cabella and Florian Thauvin.

3/3 does that mean 3 out of 3 or our 3rd choice out of 3?

If these stories are bullsh*t at least the caliber of the players involved has gone up. If, and of course it’s a big if, these reports aren’t false then we could have a very decent team this season.

Seems to be a lot of smoke now for there to be absolutely no fire. Unless of course the smoke clears and reveals mirrors of previous rubbish dealings, bluff and misinformation designed to keep ticket and merchandise revenue flowing.

Be good to see some signings, anything just to show we are at least trying up keep in pace. Having said that, I think getting all these mentioned here would be little more than the minimum level for a club that is serious about actually achieving something.

As it is, still waiting. Still waiting…

This wino sleeping in a park is ex England Arsenal and Toon defender Kenny Sansom.
He is now in rehab thank god but it just goes to show how horrible a thing addiction can be.

Can see anita being the feeder for the creative players. He will be our deschamps next season. Get on the 33/1 for a top 6 finish.

Liverpool and ” soon to be replaced” Rodgers are just a pain in the backside.
They are just trying to buy back success at any price and keep their fickle fans happy following Suarez and Gerrard’s departures and with ” can’t wait to join City” Sterling leaving as well they are now getting left behind as a top European club. Maybe when Anfield is rebuilt in three years time they might get a team to suit the new stadium.
If they keep sniffing the Laughing Gas they might not realise that we took £20m off them for Sissoko – only seems fair really .

There are only 2 x big time clubs now , City, and Chelsea both because of their owners splashing obscene amounts of cash . Manure and Arsenal are the next two on the list – but both are vunerable to inconsistency and lacking direction. After that Liverpool and Spurs think they are big time charlies but a few wrong signings and a few bad games and they are reduced to ordinary . No reason to think that if we kept Sissoko and added the calibre of players that have been mentioned that we couldn’t give Spurs and the Scousers something to think about.

Sissoko has stated he wants CL. Well he isnt going to get it next season at Liverpool, at least.

I also reckon they have been well and truly dudded by Wolfsburg for Firminio. 29 million pounds for him is a joke having watched him at the Copa.

Even if we get 2 in we are drastically short of quality and need at least 6 others – 2 more CBs for a start. We are a long, long way off yet.

Might be reading too much into it but Toney left out of squad for Northampton towns first pre season friendly today. Reports suggest he will go on pre season camp in Brighton but no reason given for his exclusion today. Strong rumours about toon interest down here!

I’m a long time follower of this blog, but very rarely comment. Lately my access to articles on this blog, via my phone, has been plagued by annoying pop ups for gambling sites. I’m not a gambling man and have never visited a gambling site in my life, so it can’t be a targeted pop up. I could understand if it was porn. Anyone else had this problem? And if so, how do you rectify it? Cheers.

Forget Das Bost at whatever silly figure they want for him. If we bid and mean £15m for Charlie Austin and get him then it is possible the flood gates could open. Other players will then want to come in and some of those touted as wanting out will maybe change their minds. It’s a bit like the financial markets, it’s more about confidence than facts. Surely to God Mike Ashley must realise that a NUFC in regular Champions league is going to make him more money than just staying in the PL. For a very intelligent and successful businessman he sometimes makes me wonder as to his blank spots.
