Newcastle Offer Has Been Put To Wijnaldum

9:50 am, Monday, July 6th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 15 Comments

The Chronicle are now reporting that Newcastle waiting for a decision from PSV midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, after reports late last night that we are close to a deal for the Dutch International.

If that’s accurate it would mean a fee has been agreed between PSV and Newcastle for the player and Newcastle have offered terms to the 24 year-old.

Georginio Wijnaldum – close to a deal

It looks like the talks are certainly at an advanced stage, and when Georginio reported back to training this morning he will be updated on the offer made by Newcastle.

Newcastle may have to pay as much as £15M for the player, and the first thing in any transfer is to agree a fee with PSV, and then we can talk terms with the player.

There are even some reports today saying that Newcastle are willing to offer as much as £60K/week in wages for the 19 times capped Dutch International.

If the deal goes ahead the next thing we should hear is an agreement between PSV and Newcastle on the fee – and then we can talk personal terms.

But if he is told today what Newcastle will offer him in terms of wages, a deal could be reached in the next day or two.

The good news is there are multiple reports out today in the National press saying the potential deal is at an advanced stage.

Here’s hoping.

Comments welcome.

I would like to think that he’s going come to us, but you never know with this mob. A top player who will excite the fans.

Just like Austin who is I believe on his honeymoon.

I believe Diego Rolan is out shopping and can’t be reached.

Bas Dost is in his caravan like so many other Dutch folk and has no broadband in his camper van.

Of the rest, it’s anybodies guess.

I would love him to sign.
I’m just saying it may not be today, and I wouldn’t be checking every two minutes and blowing a fuse.

The thought of Wijnaldum and a fully recovered de Jong playing together is little bit frightening to be honest.

    Cisse should get 50 goals

He plays alongside Luuk de Jong who I believe enjoyed his time on Tyneside, even though he never scored, and may have given him favourable reports.

I’d be very keen to see the newspaper report that says we’ll meet his £60,000 a week wages.
    That would be very encouraging.

If we do get Wijnaldum and Lpool want Sissoko maybe we could do a swap for Martin Skrtel

As long as he’s not a replacement for Sissoko it could be a great deal. Less thrilled if it’s a one in, one out situation
