Report – Newcastle Agree €16M Fee For Aleksandar Mitrovic

There has been news in the Rome press today through Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla on his own web-site – that Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is waiting for a bid from Roma for his services.

If the bid does not materialize tonight then Alfredo is reporting that Mitrovic will travel to Newcastle on Thursday to meet with Newcastle officials, who are said to have agreed a fee of about €16M with his club Anderlecht.

Newcastle have been interested in the 20 year-old 13 times capped Serbian International striker all season, and he had a great season in Belgium scoring 28 goals in 51 appearances for Anderlecht.

Aleksandar Mitrovic – travelling to Newcastle tomorrow?

Note that this all according to Alfredo Pedulla who follows Roma moves closely.

Aleksandar Mitrovic however,  has made no secret of the fact that Roma are his first choice, and he will get European football at the Italian club – which is what he wants if he leaves Anderlecht.

That’s what he had last season, when he was outstanding in Europe for his Belgium club.

However a late entry on Pedulla’s web-site tonight suggests that Roma will indeed make a bid for the Anderlecht striker – so exactly where that leaves the meeting with Newcastle tomorrow we have no idea.

This is what Alfredo has just put on his web-site:.

Roma did not give up on Aleksandar Mitrovic.

After seeing the move by Newcastle, who had scheduled a summit tomorrow in England, after they reached an agreement in principle with Anderlecht, the Giallorossi have announced an official offer that will come between tonight and tomorrow morning.

Roma want Mitrovic, irrespective of possible developments for Dzeko, and things are about to move in a very real way.

The other complication is that Roma’s first choice striker target was thought to be Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko – which is why Pedulla has mentioned their pursuit of Mitrovic is independent of them also wanting Dzeko.

As we said, this is all from one journalist in Rome, and we don’t know whether Mitrovic will be in Newcastle tomorrow for that meeting – but we doubt it.

With Newcastle reported to be close to signing Georginio Wijnaldum for around €16M (£11.2M) from PSV Eindhoven  – it does look like Newcastle are finally waking up in this transfer window.

So that’s at least some good news.

Whitecaps play a very aggressive 4-2-3-1. It’s interesting to watch a side with real pace play that formation. It puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the defending team, especially on the quick counter attack. If we had decent players I would recommend it.

Met peter beardsley at kings cross last week, had an interesting conversation with him. Apparently there is 100m to spend on the right players! He said he was very excited about mclaren, also said playeds hated carver and pardew was arrogant and only cared about himself

Rotunda, if you cant read more than a few lines its not my problem. You became a Pardew obsessive and some blokes wudnt even credit him when we beat Man U away.ffs. Balance boys balance, thats what i asked for all along, not one eyed stupidity. So now we are blaming Pardew for Santon? Santon is a shit defender, with zero poitional sense and no heading ability and blokes like me were saying this from a few games in. He cudnt defend. Mbiwa couldnt head, and only his pace helped him. He cudnt time tackles either and was unsuited to english football. Dummett if i’m not wrong is a left back first, and centre half second. He’s not that bad at either. Pardews fault? Cabaye for Palace . because no-one wants a fine midfielder who plays for France and is lightly played by one of the better teams in Europe, but nobody wants him? Bollocks. Yes, I hope Pardew messes up Palace, but I dont think he will. And i dont know a single non NUFC fan who thinks he is shit – now in fairness i dont know any WHU or Saints fans. made us look like a pile of whingers as he strolled off to London and made those campaigners look silly. I didnt read one single journalist who hammered Pardew after he left – not one . All found good and bad. I’m really pleased we have new guys but managing a club with the overrated chief scout buying players u dont like to suit an owner who only wants profit, was never going to work . To reiterate, I;m glad he’s gone, but I just dont like guys who cant see a big picture.

I’m kind of new to this so go easy on me!

But shouldn’t we be trying to get at least one Central defender through the door ?

I mean I like both Wijnaldum and mitrovic they are both the sort of players that would be welcome additions to the squad.

But what is the point in having them when the two centre backs who played most of last season are slow and probably past it?

In short though we should of signed at least two defenders by now

Heard nothing about Anderlecht accepting a bid from Newcastle in the Belgian press. So I don’t think it will be true. Think he is overrated and we should go for other options.

What are we all going on about here?

Wijnhaldum is,nt signed yet, he has to agree terms and pass a Medical, and there are other clubs waiting in the wings to throw spanners in the works !

As far as regards Mitrovic, and Champions League Footy, well every player wants tp play Champ League, and given time and the players we will be in that competition too !

I am not in the least bit interested in Pardew any more, bollocks to him. Your on about a period in the clubs history which is gone! The future, and what happens now and tomorrow is a better topic to discuss.

Santon was such a shit player according to you, but then, of course that there was intersest from other clubs in the Prem for him, and he also has a few international caps for his country, but then you only appear to want to criticise and try to ridicule the rest of us Bloggers on here.

I don,t think Rotunda will react to what you just said but i will.
If you want to talk about a BIG PICTURE, then start thinking about the future and stop living in the past !

Just a point! I won,t be back on here for the next few days !
    Bye, Bye !
