So where do SDJ and Wijnaldum fit into the same team if they’re both classic number 10’s.

    mitrovic at nufcccccc fk yaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • 11 Big Pappa Cissé // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:37 PM

Cracking signing and would much rather pay a similar price for him at 24 than Cabaye who is pushing 30 .

He also got Dutch player of the year ahead of Memphis Depay .

    😀 😉

  • 14 geordie157 // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:38 PM

I’m not going to believe it until its official but Wijnaldum is a great signing!!

Yes he’s a no.10 but he’s very good on the right side and is capable of playing anywhere across the midfield or off the striker.

If Cabella gets his act together

    front four of

    Wijnaldum, De Jong, Cabella

  • 17 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:40 PM

Im watching ssn and never seen that.

Im thinking a player exit, probs Sissoko! I’d like to keep him though.

This wijnaldum looks a player like. Im chuffed to bits but wary of sales.

    lesh @13

Now that’s just taking things too far pmsl.

  • 19 lochinvar // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:41 PM

Get them both signed and photos of them in black and white in all the media and at the same time relegate pictures of yesterday’s men Cabaye and Pardew at Palace to yesterday’s news ( Lundun Evening Standard excepted of course )
I thinks that’s what they call a double whammy.

Wry smile across my face as I write

  • 20 nut meg // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:43 PM

So it could be a double signing tomorrow & then off to the US of A , after the preferred partners have had their interviews first of course.

Sissoko would be daft to leave and miss the party – although he might end up as super sub or has McLaren a cunning plan to have De Jong – Sissoko – Winjaldum – Colback in midfield ?
    Hardly dare think about it

  • 23 tequilamag // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:45 PM

JIB why would I want to give myself a slap. Now if I wanted to slap somebody I would not need to look for

  • 24 beermonkey // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:46 PM

maybe they are going to push dejong into the no9 role at times
it would appear that McLaren has a plan

  • 25 nightfa11 // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:46 PM

great day..good signing, but they dont mean much if we dont buy a quality CB.. colo, saylor, lassceles can fight for 1 place, but we need a monster of a CB..and PLEASE..kick williamson out.. i dont even want to see him as an option for mclaren..

  • 26 Reyantoon // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:49 PM

    Howay people,it’s getting real then..
Even more excited about Mitrovic stories..

  • 28 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:51 PM

Or having Gini play as a #8 seeing as he played most of his games from CM last season.

I suppose it all depends on what kind of 4-3-3 McClaren uses?

  • 29 Munster Mag // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:51 PM

Looking good on this, really good news and I think more will follow. I praised those involved earlier and then got slagged off because I didnt include Steve McLaren ! I cant remember what Muppet said it. To reclarify ( again ) , I dont think Pardew was the source of all our woes and I dont think he’s as crap as people say. He’s not great either – in fact very average, maybe worse, and i”m really pleased with the noises coming from McClaren. Particularly I like the sound of this new young coach. And by the way, whats wrong with praising people like Ashley and Charnley for getting this new player in ? I am hopeful that we are seeing a slow change in the regime – who knows ?

  • 30 Munster Mag // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:52 PM

Tequila, I didnt know you were back on the blog. Hope all well . Its a good day so far – maybe more to come !

  • 33 Noel Worst // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:55 PM

Folk proposing line-ups without Perez are the dumbest of dumb.

Players on the same page as him, as agile and imaginative are exactly what he needs to take him on to the next level and was what he was sorely missing last season.

Sure we can assume McClaren won’t be going with a 4-3-3 then, at least not the traditional configuration. Maybe something narrowere like this, which would depend on fullbacks bombing forward, getting a new LB capable of supplying with the same quality Janmaat does, or Haidara having to improve sharpish, as one of Mitrovic’s main weapons is his heading ability –

4-3-3 with SDJ and Perez tucked inside, Sissoko sitting deep to spring counters with his bursts and Wijnaldum being the main playmaker, the guy that brings it all together.

  • 34 corkypants // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:56 PM

Wijnaldum sorry god damn sausage fingers!!!!

  • 35 Big Pappa Cissé // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:56 PM

Not sure how McLaren will have us lined up as Wijnaldum, Cabella & De Jong are all number 10’s although Remy can play out wide .

    Maybe :

    —————Wijnaldum———-De Jong—————-

Either way we have a lot of squad depth provided no-one leaves .

  • 36 Rotonda heights // Jul 10, 2015 at 3:57 PM

Wouldn’t mind sissoko going now. as someone said this looks like the beginnings of a genuine pass and move team, full of flair and touch players. Not sure that’s sissoko’s bag.

Afternoon Mnster. Been having a few weeks away. Got tired of the drip drip drip of misery . Excellent news and hopefully more to come. Not being greedy but we only have 3 fbs and a new CH is long long overde

  • 38 BandB // Jul 10, 2015 at 4:00 PM

Wijnaldum looks a natural athlete and very willing to bust a gut to keep up with play.
Also appears to know how to make space for himself, spot a run, and hold his run.
Nor have I seem him attempting a wild slog from 30 yards.
If we can break forward with three like him we will be much more potent.
You can’t really crab this signing.
An Ashley record signing. Probably on a good wage.
    Keep them coming.

  • 39 Rotonda heights // Jul 10, 2015 at 4:00 PM

way to influence people and win friends buddy. Actually in alliterative terms ”muppet munster” has a certain ring to it wouldn’t you agree.

  • 40 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 10, 2015 at 4:02 PM

    Cheers fella.

That sounds promising, i’d much rather try and keep him though as if say one is injured, competition for places etc. Maybe Anita could flourish in a system as you say and we wouldn’t moss him then.

A think a midfielder has to go, out of them all who would you let go?

I’d be amazed if we didn’t sell one.

  • 41 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jul 10, 2015 at 4:05 PM

I’m pretty sure it will be a 4-3-3, something like this.

Struggling to get De Jong in there, maybe the club have brought Wijnaldum in because of the risk of injury to De Jong?

    Strong bench though:

    De Jong

But there is still the potential for more signings to improve that defence drastically.

The reason Anita is there is because he plays similar too Wijnaldum and I have a feeling Anita is going to be key to our season, maybe stick marveaux in there aswell.

  • 42 corkypants // Jul 10, 2015 at 4:08 PM

Im guessing the way steve mc plays posession football anita will play a major part

  • 43 Douglas // Jul 10, 2015 at 4:26 PM

I live in the Netherlands. Wijnaldum is the real deal.

  • 44 Lynny // Jul 10, 2015 at 6:57 PM

Cracking player. My only worry is they’re all box goals and will he find that type of space in the premier league?
