Injuries Continue At Newcastle

9:06 am, Saturday, July 11th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 10 Comments

Newcastle completely dominated the game at the International Stadium last night against Gateshead,  but it took a penalty for them to score, as once again chance after chance went begging.

Papiss Cisse scored after only six minutes from the spot,  but Steve McClaren will have quickly seen why we need two new strikers brought into the side as soon as possible this summer.

Remy Cabella – has a thigh strain

That hasn’t changed at all from last season, and it seems we also have our first injury with Remy Cabella having picked up a thigh injury and it looks like he will miss the trip to the US.

Newcastle travel over to America tomorrow, but Remy will not be on the plane as Steve McClaren had this to say last night:

“I think Remy Cabella is a doubt for America.” “He has picked up a knock on his thigh and we find out the results of a scan on Saturday.”

Remy Cabella missed the game last night, but it was good to see our two new players back from loan from Nottingham Forest – Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles – get their first game for Newcastle in the first half.

One of the improvements needed this season – as well as scoring more goals and conceding less – strikers and center-backs needed – is in cutting down on the injuries.

So we hope McClaren and his new coaching team can reduce the injuries our players always seem to pick up every season, which helped decimate the squad last season.

Comments welcome.

On Cabella, this is no good like, can’t see him going.

He really needs a good pre season, he has alot of winning over this season. He was poor but some players take more time I guess.

Yes, definitely a new dawn at the club. We have now nearly bought a player in consecutive windows, summer windows at least.

The biggest surprise yesterday was lecturer of modern languages and all round clever guy jeff from benwell, sorry, I mean Jib not getting involved with the Wijnaldum pronunciation debate. Most definitely because you can’t google it and he hasn’t got enough data for you tube when he’s not sitting in the Red Lion on a €1 a pint + free wifi.
