Georginio Wijnaldum last Saturday completed his transfer to Newcastle United away. Humphrey Nijman, the agent of the Orange International, said that AC Milan had concrete interest in his client.

Also Everton and Zenit St Petersburg were in the market for Wijnaldum.

His agent Humphrey Nijman said:

“He definitely wanted to England. Also AC Milan was interested, but England was preferred.”

The former Feyenoord player is happy that his transfer was a done deal.

“Chances were that I would stay with PSV, but also that I would make a transfer. It was a little unsure, fortunately I now have certainty.”

“Those last 24 hours was tough. Especially because I had to fly from Switzerland to Newcastle, with an interim meeting in Amsterdam.”

¨Then I had a medical examination, which lasted a long time. The paperwork was not ready, so I also had to wait. “

“Newcastle ultimately gave a good offer to PSV. They have acted quickly and shown that they really wanted me. I talked to the coach – Steve McClaren –  who explained his plans.¨

AC Milan is one terrific football club who have won the Serie A title 18 times and have been Champions League (European Cup) winners 7 times, and have won the UEFA Cup twice.

They have won the UEFA Super Cup 5 times.

The signing of Georginio was a great start for Newcastle, and now the club is after striker Aleksandar Mitrovic of Anderlecht and Charlie Austinof QPR, and Newcastle want to bring in five players in total this summer.

The Chronicle reported yesterday that all the players brought in by Newcastle over the summer could be over £10M in price.
