Club Atlas 2 Newcastle United 1 – Video Highlights

Here are the highlights of last night’s game at Miller Park which we lost 2-1 to Club Atlas.

You can quickly get to the goals or any part of the game by moving the mouse under the video and get the time bar along the bottom – the goals are after 10 minutes, 16 minutes and 45 minutes.

Club Atlas hit the cross-bar with a deflected shot after 21 minutes 35 seconds.

It seems to start at 2-0 but you can click back to the start quite easily.

Notice before the penalty kick is taken after 10 minutes how Siem de Jong goes over and has a chat with Jamaal Lascelles who had given it away – good leadership – that’s why he was captain of Ajax.

    i think we’ll get mitrovic to be honest. but i would like it if we didn’t get a second ccentre forward of this type. i would prefer a second to be a more mobile and pacey player who can player on the wing if needed. Someone like paul georges ntep and breel donald embolo.

    Nice to hear you enjoyed it mate.

    Funny one on colo, it was said he was injured before the game. Strange that he was involved with the warm up.

    Mitrovic would be great to have here, it is what we need, strong CF, dangerous in the penalty area, but can hold up ball and bring others to play.

    On Banega, he is a good player, I liked him at Valencia, but now I didnt see him enough last year so I cannot judge him…

    Off topic but:

    Liverpool want Benteke;

    Villa have a £32m buy-out clause in his contract;

    Liverpool aren’t willing to pay that – they believe he’s overvalued;

    They dug in for £49m for Sterling – a one season wonder!

    What world does that club live in? Are their players super-special?

    Colo can play one season, but he need strong and quick CB next to him, Abdennour or Rudiger my two favourites, but cant see them coming here…but who knows I couldnt see Wijnaldum come here and he is now ours

    On 19 February 2012, however, he prolonged an existing spell on the sidelines – he had recently returned from a knee injury – after he was run over by his own car. As a result, he fractured his left ankle and broke the tibia and fibula in his left leg, according to Valencia team doctor Enrique Gastaldi.[12] He required ankle surgery, going on to miss the remainder of the campaign;[13] the club only confirmed that the player had been hurt in an accident involving his own car after leaving training, however Spanish media had reported that the injury occurred when he failed to put the handbrake on at a petrol station and, after the car moved, his leg was caught between the wheel and the curb.Banega sounds a right bright spark !!

    Agree mate…..played well in the Copa America,just don’t let him take a penalty.
    I know we don’t neccersarily need any more midfielders, but this guy is way above any Colback and Tiote as he often plays in that holding role.
    9 mill is a snip for this guy

    On the game last night, good to see de Jong getting stuck in and involved. Though we did not sore a second one I think there was enough in there to think it can get good.

    Some people were saying we are playing an unknown team. Liga MX is not shit. In Latin America the best leagues are Argentina, Brazil and MX.

    As much as people would like to think that European leagues are just a class apart this is simply not true. Further Latinos love to come up against European teams and will do their best to show that Europe is not any better than them.

    Last point, if we are supposed to play the ball out of the back four I know I would much rather prefer Colo to Williamson. One is a footballer, one is something else that I am unable to define.

    I was impressed with the positional side of things from goal kicks.

    Colback dropped deep to get ball cb split to edge of area Anita went to centre circle area waiting for a pass ( think that’s where wijnaldum will play so he can run with the ball)

    Full back pushed up to h’way line supporting sissoko and Goufran with two options either side with de Jong just behind cisse central.

    The last 15 minutes we were keeping the ball well even Williamson was doing short passing and even did a dummy to go past a player.

    With everybody pushed up we still had two cb and two dcm behind the ball to stop the counter. We had width and at times 5 players at edge of box or higher. Last season we had 1 or 2 unless a set piece in the oppositions box.

    At Feyenoord Leroy Fer and Gigi were known as the “Droomduo” the dream team.
    QPR will let Fer go for £7million which apparently we have no problem with.
    (renigen means reunite)

    Jib,

    It might have been a Droomduo there, but it seems in the PL Leroy Fer is a Dooms player, always getting relegated. 🙂

    Stay away from us or third time lucky? …after Norwich and QPR that is.

    There are three words in last nights match report that should alarm every fan hoping for better things this coming season , They are :- WILLIAMSON, GOUFFRAN, OBERTAN.

    How the hell are these people even being considered as a part of the first team squad.

    bladeuser – bit harsh to say the least.He’s mentioned that we are looking to sign players. I’m sure Mac thinks he’s got several decent players and overall a decent squad but his quote doesn’t mean “everything is perfect”, does it? What’s he going to say -” I like some of our players”? “I’m very happy with the squad apart from one or two deadbeats”?

    yeah i’ll give ya that mate. but Fer is never a 20mill player which is what EVER went for a few years ago. Watched all the copa America, And the guy looked quality. And as I have said already would be a bargain at 9 mill.

    We are stacked in the CM region so unless McClaren is thinking of completely rebuilding the midfield (he’s not as he has a big enough job to do with this squad) or Sissoko and Tiote are leaving then Benega isn’t likely to be a true rumour imo

    Would you pay 2 mill for Willo ??
    I think we would do well to get back what we paid for him if I am honest mate. Same with Gouffran, Another waste in our starting line up that offers nothing to the team.
    I agree we will have trouble getting shut of these players if the board are not willing to take a loss, because there is no way we will make a profit on these players.
