Great video! Hopefully they will continue it when the season starts.

  • 3 BandB // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:00 PM

I don’t understand this story, as reported by the Mirror.
We are having problems signing a striker we need but can’t get across the line, and then entangle an already complicate situation by making signing the central defender we also desperately need contingent on the success of getting in the striker who doesn’t want to come.
It looks like a negotiating position designed to fail.

  • 4 hibbit // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:02 PM

op we are begging though we can not get players over the line we wont pay the going rate we start at target 1 and if we are lucky we get target 21 ……..i never even thought of cisse but the chances rivi had and never put away austin would have nailed most of them

  • 5 GeordieTwo // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:05 PM

Is that Lee I hear whimpering in his closet again?

  • 6 GeordieTwo // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:08 PM

Well we’ll see how far we’ve progressed when we play the giants of the football world like York City FC (league 2). That will definitely be good preparation for our first 8 fixtures. Lots of overconfident players smiling and laughing until the season is underway. Beautiful.

  • 7 optimistic prime // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:09 PM

    Hibbit

I don’t think he’s a intelligent footballer, I doubt he’d have found himself in the space or positions Rivierre did.

To me it’s been luck more than judgement for Austin this year.

If he comes I hope he makes me look daft but I see it being a bad move signing him.

  • 8 Jib // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:09 PM

    BandB
Are you being obtuse or thick ?
Simon Bird says quite clearly ansd simply that Porto have matched our bid , so , therefore in order to keep ahead of the game we have introduced the Congolese CB into the equation which should make our bid more attractive to the cash-strapped Belgian side.
    Quite a clever ploy actually.

  • 9 hibbit // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:10 PM

betty got to agree with you about the two players but wont come so why do we rule austin out because he wont come austin would do a good job for us maybe not as good as mits but a still good job

  • 10 kevymartins // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:11 PM

@hibbit people saying why sign Austin when we have cisse a 30 year old with a dodgy knee who gets banned for 8 games for spitting on people. Cisse has been nothing special here in his 4 seasons he got something like 13 goals 8 goals 2 goals 11 goals at 1 point he played like 22 matches and scored 2 goals. Austin first year into the BPL an he’s banging them in.

  • 11 optimistic prime // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:13 PM

Austin waits for thing to happen for him, a ricochet a set piece or someone working space for him.

Mitrovich imposes himself on the game, forces errors pressurises and brings people around him into the game.

They play a similar role but one is head and shoulders above the other.

  • 12 Jib // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:13 PM

Regardless of the varied opinions on here about him , McClaren obviously REALLY wants Mitrovic.

  • 13 BandB // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:14 PM

    I’m thick Jib.

    Sorry.

I’ll stop posting now because I can’t handle your charm and intelligence.

Given that you’ve cocked up nearly every claim you’ve made for the last fortnight, I’d put down that stone and vacate that particular glass-house.

  • 14 hibbit // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:15 PM

op i get your point you don’t like him IF we get him and its still a big IF i think he could proves you wrong

  • 15 BandB // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:15 PM

And gan canny on the booze.

It doesn’t agree with you….. either.

  • 16 welshgeordie9 // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:18 PM

Looks like I’m going to win my bet.

  • 17 hibbit // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:19 PM

op don’t get me wrong i would love MITS to sign ……still can not work out why his dad was looking at houses if he is not coming

  • 18 optimistic prime // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:22 PM

    Hibbit

If he does I hope he does prove me wrong, and I’ll cheer him not boo, unless he misses a pen against the mackems 😉

Just think if we’re supposed to be on the up he isn’t the man for us.

I’m more concerned about our defence than the foward line, we could sign costa and Messi and would still struggle to win games with colo Willo and Saylor

I think he’ll sign, what you said about houses his parents here etc. If there wasn’t a good chance why do all that, a holiday in Italy or Portugal must be nicer for them than a Newcastle summer.

  • 29 optimistic prime // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:33 PM

I’ve already proved once you lost the bet we made.

The bet was the next NUFC manager after Pardew would be ten times worse and I said carver didn’t count, you accepted. Which I proved by putting the posts up. Plenty saw them.

Now you either think Mclaren is ten times worse than Pardew or you’re trying to change the goal posts!

Everyone knows you’re full of shit, be a man of your word and do one.

  • 30 Polarboy // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:33 PM

  • 31 WLtoon // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:34 PM

Fed up with the on or off bullshit involving the 2 strikers.
Come on Chelsea, step in and spend your money on the two of them ffs.and let us get on with blogging about the 2 that got away. AGAIN.
Its clear that Charnley has,nt a fooking clue how to handle the responsibility of closing these deals.
How long does it take to sign a player ffs.
Even the mackems brought in a CB within 2 days of being knocked back by their 1st choice. This is a carbon copy of last season with the humming and harring over a few lousy quid.which is stopping us bringing our targets to the club.

  • 32 Jib // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:34 PM

    Welshie
The blog would be eerily quiet without the whingers – It would be like being in a totally quiet rain forest – You need the weird cries of the monkeys and the buzz of the insects.

  • 33 lukes26 // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:35 PM

How many Newcastle players could start consistently for one of the CL sides?

Id say, Janmaat for sure and possibly Tiote (i think people forget how good he is if he plays consistently)

I could see arguments made for Sissoko and Krul..but thats about it

I think Pardew jumping ship for CP & this entire past season was cold water in the pants for Ashley & he realizes his experiment of buying young on the cheap has failed

I really think he’s pushing building a strong side. No more half measures

  • 34 optimistic prime // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:35 PM

    Welsh

The biggest moaner on the blog is you, you’re just to thick to realise!

Everyone else is showing concern or debating issues, you just whinge and moan about the posters who see you for the twat you are.

  • 35 bettyswallocks // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:37 PM

Hibbit……..I’m not ruling Austin out. If he comes he’ll be better than what we have.

I just get an instinctive feeling that Mitrovic is in a different league.

  • 37 Big Pappa Cissé // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:39 PM

Really starting to get worried on the transfer front .

If Ashley thinks he can sign Wijnaldum and it will satisfy the fans he is crazy .

For me the big worry is Williamson is still at the club, let alone on the pre season tour. The guy is an awful footballer .

I am still hoping we have one of those multiple signing days with Austin and at least one quality centre back the bare minimum .

Could you go into detail for that assessment ?

  • 41 welshgeordie9 // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:43 PM

Ouch that hurt, I’ve got feelings mind.

As for the bet next person was not a manager it was a head coach .

    Pardew
    Carver then
    Mcclaren

So who was after pardew, that’s right it was carver.

    Simple really.

    Stop being a drama queen.

  • 43 Big Pappa Cissé // Jul 17, 2015 at 6:48 PM

    @ Jib

I’ll put it this way .

I personally (and most people in my 5 a side league) have better close ball control and passing range than Williamson .

He also gets regularly out jumped despite being 6,4, is slow and turns like a ship .

Can’t believe we let M’biwa go and kept that donkey .

    @King Colback

I really hope its true although I would prefer us to have Mbemba locked down guaranteed signed up ! So if Mitrovic turns us down we still get Mbemba !

Maybe this has been the deal all along because both of them require work permits?

Still not 100% comfortable in another African player too many internationals etc but the 2 of them together would be great !

We would still need another left back , winger and another centre back though for me Veltman for defence would be great

  • 49 overtheline // Jul 17, 2015 at 7:00 PM

I really don’t recall OV being an Ashley fan club at all. It was more about giving Pardew the benefit of the doubt after the 5th place finish and that the jury was out on Ashley’s true intentions. OV was a reaction to the incredible number of ‘neggers’ on the blog at that time.
Ibiza ws a leading light in the OV grouping – and as a serious fence sitter very non committal about Pardew and Shley preferring to wait and see but generally hopeful.
I certainly do not recall BandB getting a constant slagging off for being anti-OV – which was all very tongue in cheek anyway.

Rewriting history is usually reserved for the winners.

Jib has been having a mare trying to cut it as a “sensible poster” recently.
Mainly because he can’t seem to get the timing of that critical pounce JUST RIGHT.
He’s had an early start on the ale, and I think the urge for settling scores must be must be biting him.
Having launched two-footed into nearly everyone who has posted for the last hour, its only a matter of time before another “sensible poster” shows up to suggest he’s being picked on.

Love these soccer sauce things utter garbage, if we keep Cisse who can be dynamite and looks hungry currently and sign another decent frontman, Austin, Carroll, we will be fine if we sort the defence out and get a proper enforcer in midfield who has presence, is brave in possession and disciplined (should have got Nzonzi),

We should have given up on Mitroprick a long time a go, we are bigger than an unproven youngster thinking he is the king, give his money to Aarons.

It would be a nightmare if Mitrovic tipped up at Villa, once Benteke has moved on to Liverpool. It would highlight a severe lack of ambition and capability in Newcastle’s administrators.

We must have verbal confirmation for one or two targets surely. Can’t see Steve (genuinely ) stating we are close if that was not the case.
Sure I read somewhere that Mitrovic would sign wherever by the weekend. Austin I am unsure even where he is (Italy with QPR ?)

Watching the highlights of the video, Armstrong looks like he actual quite a handful with that burst of pace. However the boy just doesn’t look like he can bag a goal at the minute (which I aint too concerned about as thats more confidence thing that can easily be rectified)

However more I dig into it, the more I think it could possibly be down to a poor first touch. I mean the boy scored reguarly for the england u 18’s and the only highlight of him in training is where he totally messes up his initial touch and loses control.

it really is becoming somewhat of a farce all of the so called players we are being linked with.

…realistically I wonder who and what type of player we will eventually attract. I would like to see us opt for two experienced CB’s. It’s essential we address this position sooner rather than later, nonetheless I must admit I suspect that SM is happy with what he has at the back given his recent comments.

When it comes to Mitrovic, where do we start, are we really in for him, were we ever.?! Does he not want to come..?! Who knows its all second guessing. Austin…erm again I’m not sure, is he better than what we have.?! Probably.

Realistically if any more players are to come in I suspect this will be the price bracket.
    CB £6M Hopefully two!
    LB £2.5M
    Wing £4M
    CF £8M (£11M Max)
Any more would be a bonus but I can’t see all of these multiple £10M plus sining.

It would be totally unprofessional if he doesn’t know that we’ve conceded almost 60 goals a season for the last three years and that the defence is so thread bare that quite often we have had midfielders appear as fullbacks and fullbacks appear as central defenders resulting many times in three, four, and five goal thrashings. It would be absolutely criminal if he hadn’t of picked Beardsley, Moncur and especially Dave Watsons brain about this.
