Breaking News – Mitrovic On His Way To Newcastle For Medical

HLN.be in Belgium are just reporting that soon  Aleksandar Mitrovic will no longer be an Anderlecht player,  and after missing training yesterday while a deal with Newcastle was being negotiated. the latest news is he’s on his way to the north of England for a medical.

Aleksandar Mitrovic – on his way to Newcastle for medical.

He has said his goodbyes to his team-mates and the Belgium media are still reporting the fee is still €18M which is a bit more than the €16.5M being reported locally this morning.
The Belgium outlet is saying that after continually reporting from the 10th July that the deal was being negotiated, they are now reporting it is now final:

“Maggie leaves Anderlecht for Newcastle.”

So it appears that Newcastle have indeed won the race to sign the very talented but still raw 20 year-old Serbian International striker.

There’s no word on Chancel Mbemba, but the Magpies are hardly going to hold up the Mitrovic deal up to sign the Anderlecht center-back at the same time.

Aleksandar had a great season for Anderlecht last term, when he scored 28 goals in 51 appearances for the Belgian side and he has already played 13 times for Serbia.

If he passes his medical and this deal goes through, that would be the second classy  and sought after player to join Newcastle this summer, following Georginio Wijnaldum through the door.

If everything goes OK then he will be off to Portland, Oregon tomorrow to join up with the Newcastle squad.

This will be a nother terrific signing for Newcastle United – assuming it goes through.

Comments welcome.

Hopefully this is it,but not holding my breath could just be another case of lazy journalism. Wonder if the Austin deal is still on if we pull this deal off, would be good but not sure we really need him. The need for cbs is still a must can’t go into next season with the rubbish we currently have

SM tends toward 433 type formations. Mitty, austin and cisse all play centrally so cant see us signing austin, and i will be surprised if we keep cisse. (If mitty does sign). None of those will want to be “back up”

On Mbemba – only going by what I saw in the champs league but looks top class.
Seen a belgian Journo say on twitter Mbemba is the best player in the Belgian league mitrovic included….
Saw another pundit say Mbemba is currently the best African player playing…
    Sounds promising

Our main man informs us #NUFC are ‘very close’ to finalising a deal for Chancel Mbemba. £10m.

    It’s amazing last week £1 = 1.37 euros, now £1 = 1.44 euros. Quite a difference when you’re talking in the millions.

I wonder how much it would actually cost to release the Three Stooges Colo, Wilo and Taylo – surely less than 10 minutes of Jabba’s bank interest!

The Sterling/Euro Exchangee rate is at its highest since 2009. This means trading players with the Euro zone is good for us. As of today the rate is £1 to 1.44 Euro. Last month it was £1 to £1.39 Euro. That’s £50k less per £1m or £500,000 per £10m for the same number of Euros. Not to be sneezed at, and must be helping when we are in for £10m + players, we have £500,000 less to invest or play with as bonuses.
Not as good as a BOGOF.. but every little helps..

    If all is true..

Gini, Mitty, mbemba is just about the bare minimum needed, but still leaves us vunerable to injury. Add another CB,(i would take a versatile one who can cover full back) and maybe some kind of squad-striker who offers something different up front when required, then id say we were good to go.

Isn’t this a big gamble? Spending so much money on a player that’s not been in a so called “Big” league. If it was between this guy and Austin, I would probably lean more towards Austin because he’s played in the Premier League and showed that he can score.

But what do I know, I’ve not seen this guy play so it’s hard to make a judgement

Ah well,in which case, any other reasonable CB will do. Eject Willo from the club using a large catapult.
