    Welcome Mitro!

  • 2 JDdubai // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:33 PM

    Signing for Gateshead??

  • 3 Slank // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:36 PM

    Blofal @ 65

This is also my selection. I think McClaren will play 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 as this allows De Jong to pull the strings knowing he has Colback behind him and also allowing Wijnaldum to bomb forward. By all accounts Mitrovic is a handful in the air. I foresee Janmaat and Haidara whipping in the crosses.

    Janmaat – Mbemba – Coloccini – Haidara
    ———-Wijnaldum – Colback

Why do people think we are in fir mbemba??

  • 6 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:40 PM

When did Juventus bid for him? They kept that quiet. -.-

  • 7 Jamseyd24 // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:41 PM

He is not here yet!!! will get excited when I hear he is in town.
How many more signing do people think we will make this summer. assuming this one is going to go through????

  • 8 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:43 PM

If this one goes through mate then that tells me that the clubs policy has changed. How many? Who knows? Could be in for a great window!! For once.

  • 9 corkypants // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:44 PM

I think two more signings jamsey if were lucky 3 a centre back maybe 2 and a winger

  • 10 JDdubai // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:44 PM

Lets make sure no-one intercepts him to play FIFA..

  • 11 JP...from The Rock // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:45 PM

I am buzzing!! Can’t wait to see him in a NUFC Shirt to start the celebrations! A very ambitious signing and at last the club is showing some balls and intent.

  • 12 Jamseyd24 // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:49 PM

Ok peps name your next 3 Signings and 3 to go out????

  • 13 shay Robson // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:52 PM

    where is jail for ashley?

  • 14 corkypants // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:52 PM

I cant help but think after avoiding relegation now these 2 signings that sir bobby Liam and John are watching over the toon so if your listening chaps some silverware would be amazing (and to centre backs)!!!!!!!

  • 15 expatmag // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:54 PM

Good signing and will be an asset.

    Off topic

Just watching the Singapore tournament final between Arsenal and Everton and Arsenal making mincemeat out of them. 3-0 up with still half an hour to go but it should be double that……at least.

Arsenal could be my tip for the PL this season.

  • 16 shay Robson // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:54 PM

signing world class strikers is too good for ashley?

  • 17 bettyswallocks // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:56 PM

Wow! At last something positive to latch onto. Hopefully the medical will be Ok.

After years of making do and trying to survive ,maybe a small sign of ambition.
Make no mistake this kid is very talented. He has all the attributes of a top class striker with plenty of self confidence to boot.

I think it was essential to find a striker who won’t be overawed at SJP and I really think we ‘ve found him. Get in!!! HWTL

  • 18 expatmag // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:56 PM

    Next 3 signings

  • 19 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:57 PM

Sorry, I’v been out this afternoon for dinner. I don’t think it’s nit picking as such, it’s just the way i’v been conditioned by the regime. Im cautious, I’d be silly not to be going off the past. I want to believe the club has changed but no one will know until that window slams shut.

Brilliant news on Mitrovic, just what I wanted to see when i logged on.

Another step in the right direction.

Im guessing this means our chase for Austin is over? Prove me wrong NUFC.

  • 20 Edd Case // Jul 18, 2015 at 2:57 PM

Looking as though this transfer may happen BUT that is a FAKE facebook account.

thought the same on arsenal when they signed petr cech

I read an article on them and how they slashed there injuries last season if they can keep there players fit they have a great chance

    that’s the article

  • 25 Jamseyd24 // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:07 PM

  • 26 expatmag // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:08 PM

They look bloody awesome here although they have currently taken their foot off the pedal. Barkley has just pulled one back for Everton.

  • 27 JDdubai // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:11 PM

Is your nickname Jamesy? Shouldnt the E and S be the other way around?

  • 28 Shadow_Shearer // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:16 PM

Still da same story, Mitrovic gettin closer. He maybe in touching distance but he’s still not holding da famous black & white shirt!

how bad are evertons defence and how strong are the teams

  • 31 gaz 44 // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:17 PM

Looking at all these potential team line ups nobody is putting Perez in.. I know he’s a lot to improve on but I feel it’s his form alone really why we are still in the premiership .. Did a great job last season when no one expected it.. I’d have him in before Cabella dejong or on the right for sissoko

  • 32 Bambams // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:18 PM

Perez and Mitrovic could be the future. With SDJ in the hole.

Do we think we are still in for Austin ? Can we genuinely believe they will sign two strikers ?
I don’t, one or the other.

Now for van Dijk and Douglas….
Or Matip and any decent commanding CB…Please

    I will settle for that

  • 33 WWSBRD // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:20 PM

Well apparently I cant post the link to the article where Mitrovic states he only has a private facebook for his family and friends so Jamseyd24 ur just going to have to do some research urself

  • 34 optimistic prime // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:21 PM

If the FB account is fake sky look quite silly as they’re also running it.

  • 35 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:21 PM

Perez has to be in the team, the reason he seemed to struggle so much was because his teammates had no idea how to play quick 1-2’s and to have good build up play. He was so isolated and had to chase a lot of lost causes. He was great last season, playing really well in a terrible set up.

Now it looks like we’re building a great passing team, he will thrive in this kind of set up and I honestly believe he is vital for the starting eleven. His link up with the likes of De Jong and Wijnaldum is so exciting.

    Janmaat…Va Dijk…Mbemba..Haidara

    …………. Mitrovic

  • 40 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:25 PM

    I would go for a 4-1-3-2

Both strikers 21. Great potential into next season aswell.

  • 41 alkinou // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:28 PM

Comments on Belgium sites are that this account is a fake…
Wouldn’t surprise me because the club generally wants to officialize these stuff first. It might still come true though

  • 42 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:28 PM

I would sell Sissoko, I don’t see how he fits in this team. Sloppy first touch, bad first time passing. His main pro is the fact that he is amazing when driving with the ball, but he won’t be doing that in this set up will he? He only did that last season due to the incompetence of his teammates.

  • 43 Lilongwe Geordie // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:29 PM

  • 44 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:30 PM

  • 45 WWSBRD // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:30 PM

Posted by an Anderlecht news account which has been putting out news on this for sometime. It could be wrong I suppose and times have changed so he now has a fans one though but seems those from Belgium dont think so

U posted on it? Am confused what that prove mate unless ur Mitrovic haha

  • 49 remember69 // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:36 PM

No fishin’, NUFC/football is my passion. Just expressing a view……. Ashley for me is doing what he said he’d do from day 1 – stabilize the club and then start growing.

  • 50 Bambams // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:36 PM

I like your team. I hope we can get Douglas, Vzn Dijk or Mbemba.

Let’s see what socks is like in an organised attacking team – not in a team where we try not to concede and hope we get a goal.

I think we may see a difference from Carvers team, possibly confidence will be higher now that we have (possibly ) signed a bit of a beast up front.

Perez needs to play but he is still young and I personally don’t want to put too much pressure on him after his heroics of last season. Going to be some player though imo

I rated Anita when we signed him, I know he was a mini beast against West Ham but I need to see the consistency, I like Colback but I appreciate it’s a debate between bloggers him or Anita.

My biggest hope this year is SDJ…I hope we can keep this bloke fit, what a shot he has. Some player this fella.

Fingers crossed mitrovic and others sign.

  • 51 Munster Mag // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:40 PM

This is brilliant news, and further vindication and proof of the clubs change in direction. Despite all the naysayers and moaners who have been whinging here since the end of the season we have now pulled off two stunning signings. Even if Charrnley fails to get him in, we have to admit that he is trying hard in testing confitions. We are not Man U or Arsenal. We are a provincial club with a poor recent record and NO european football. And now it looks like we have signed two serious euro talents, and we are not finished yet. WELL DONE TO ALL CONCERNED. The moaners need to stop moaning and realise who we are and that we are improving.

  • 52 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:40 PM

Thanks, my team looks to attacking though to be honest.

You say Perez is too young? Perhaps, but that means Mitrovic is too young also. Due to him being younger then Perez lol.

  • 53 Munster Mag // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:41 PM

Remember 69, hello fellow fisherman! HTL !

  • 54 WWSBRD // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:41 PM

Might look genuine mate but doesn’t mean it is as I say those in Belgium say its fake from what I have read hence why I said its apparently fake

U weren’t really expressing a view though bud u were just posting 2 words multiple times which looks more like fishin, that reply was more expressing a opinion (not trying to be a dick….mostly) more fun if u back ur opinion up with more than two words then people can reply to it. For example I thoroughly disagree with u.

He stabilized the club but has next to no aim in growing it because there is nothing in it for him

  • 55 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:43 PM

What is with your obsession on the posters who moan on here? Honestly every time I read one of your posts there is always something related to the posters on here who moan. Give it a rest mate. Making me fall asleep!

  • 57 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:46 PM

I think people being sceptical is well and truly warranted. Its been a shocking 8 years. It will take alot more than two signings.

As ever, I’ll wait until the end of the window and measure up how the squad is before and after.

    Hoping to be pleased.

  • 58 Rotonda heights // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:46 PM

in a team looking to pass the ball i think anita could be immense. players were not played to their strengths previously, maybe they will be now.

  • 59 Bambams // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:48 PM

He is young (perez) but that’s not what I meant by pressure. He had I thought a great season last year, but i don’t want fans thinking he can do it all again. If he doesn’t get off the mark he could struggle.

Mitrovic is unknown in the prem, he can come in and do what he does best.

Hopefully if we can keep the pair of them they can learn each others games and become a force.

    Let’s hope so

  • 60 Rotonda heights // Jul 18, 2015 at 3:50 PM

News here in Serbia is Mitro will sign for us officially, very reliable site

  • 70 lesh // Jul 18, 2015 at 4:05 PM

If he and probably others are going to be paid a lowish basic with bonuses for wins and draws, they’d best put pressure onto Charnley to spend on at least two good CBs and another striker who can find the net with some regularity.

And we’ve got to hope that McClaren and his colleagues can tighten up the defence which has been sieve-like in recent seasons.

Otherwise we’re beginning to look good….

Georginho and Mitro! Top drawer. Ok, now a CB and a winger for xmas and CL (challenge) here we come.

On CF’s. Bring in an Austin ONLY if this guy fails. Perez looked good in his first year, he can be great, so it would be a shame to sideline him. And Cisse MUST find his amazing form of the first year when he’d kill on site.

  • 80 newcben // Jul 18, 2015 at 4:13 PM

Starting to shape up nicely – if we get who we are heavy linked with we finally look solid!

We need an out an out ball winning midfielder so Tiote must start to give the others free rain to attack, Janmary and Haidara like to get forward so will provide width – Tiote sitting makes a solid back 3 to always hold.

Mitovic a second striker off Austin both good in the air and with their feet. Plenty of width and good football through the middle.

  • 81 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 18, 2015 at 4:14 PM

I think Dummet may eventually turn out to be a CB however I would be totally and utterly gobsmacked with a wet fish if the powers that be don’t sign at least on CB if not two.
Colo might even be given away for a set of sprinklers for the academy to that San lorenzo or whatever in Argentina given his marital mess. Especially if we get the replacements in.

We are a Ginola or Beardsley type away from top 7 team imo (SDJ ?)

I don’t doubt the starting 11 while everyone is fit. I think we could comfortably finish in the top 10 as is.

It’s once injuries occur to the extent they do at NUFC, the jump in quality is huge. We then go on shocking runs.

We need 20 top players at the club I think. Competition for places.

Exactly which “star players” are you thinking of? The only ones likely to leave are Cisse, Sissoko and maybe Stephen Taylor so no real worries. I’m looking forward to the prospect of Perez and Aarons coming good with Winnie and Mitrovic in the team !!

  • 98 lukes26 // Jul 18, 2015 at 4:31 PM

Colo is going nowhere until next year when his contract runs out. He’s one of the highest earners at the club & no other club would match his wages

  • 100 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 18, 2015 at 4:35 PM

I don’t really get ya. I don’t see out wrong with waiting until the end of the window to judge Charnley and where we are as a squad. Im actually failing to understand your confidence considering we have been shit on from a great height time and time again over the past 8 years.

Im cautiously optimistic but these two signings mean nout if we lose just as much quality before the window shuts. It’s like for like and will be a struggle again once injuries occur if that’s the case.

  • 101 Toon-Prodigy // Jul 18, 2015 at 4:37 PM

whatever! He’s coming and I’m loving it! Every true fan must be happy with these two signings, not only cos they’re very good players but also the way the club has pursued them and got them in! This has a lot to do with McClaren and his team but credit to Charnley on this as well !

I think for the first time in a long time the players are looking forward to the season and I can’t see many wanting to leave !
