Newcastle Want Chelsea Player On Loan

8:34 pm, Saturday, July 18th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 73 Comments

The Telegraph is reporting that Newcastle are interested in 20 year-old Dutch U21 International Nathan Ake, who joined Chelsea in 2010 at the age of 15, and now it seems that Jose Mourinho would be willing to loan out a player who is very versatile and can play in midfield or in defense.

The left footed player can play defensive midfield, center-back or left back as well as in left midfield, although he seems a bit short at 5ft 11ins to play in central defense these days.

nathan ake sydney

Nathan Ake in action in early June for Chelsea at Sydney FC

Ake made his Premier League debut in December 2012 against Norwich City as a 17-year-old, replacing Juan Mata in stoppage time,  and he made his first start for the London club in the FA Cup in February 2013, in a 2–0 win against Championship side Middlesbrough.

He has played 12 times in total for the Chelsea first team, and 40 times for the Chelsea U21 side.

In late March of this year he was loaned out to Championship club Reading for a month, and he made 5 league appearances for them before returning to Chelsea.

Newcastle now have five Dutch Internationals in the team – Daryl Janmaat, Tim Krul, Vurnon Anita, Siem de Jong and new signing Georginio Wijnaldum – so the Chelsea manager may think Newcastle would be a good destination for him next season.

And of course head coach Steve McClaren has plenty of experience managing Dutch players with his toe stints as the FC Twente manager.

But we’re not sure where Newcastle would play Nathan – we suppose maybe at center-back or most likely at left back.

But we have two young lads in Massadio Haidara and Paul Dummett who will need games at left-back to develop on Tyneside next season.

Maybe he could play in defensive midfield if Cheick Tiote leaves – but Moussa Sissoko played there for Toulouse before arriving at Newcastle, so he could fit in there – Jack Colback can also do a good job in that position.

So Nathan Ake could be a good player in the making – but were not sure where Newcastle could use him next season.

We’ll know better once our transfers in are completed this summer, and after Mitrovic hopefully is signed  in the next day.

After that we still need three more players brought in and maybe two of those are central defenders.

Nathan has played for all the Dutch Youth sides including 13 appearances with two goals for the Dutch U21 side.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Maybe the fact we have so many Dutch players and a manager who won the Dutch league might tip the scales in our favour.

  • 5 BandB // Jul 18, 2015 at 8:43 PM

I have said this once before, but I am going to say it again.
I believe Ashley would like to see us qualify for the Champions’ League.
The most excited I’ve been in his tenure was when he put up the cash, to the surprise of us all, to buy Cisse.
I think he was convinced he could score the goals to get us there.
It failed. We all saw the Ba, Cisse conundrum being hopelessly mismanaged.
But when we failed, we fell into the bunker of the Europa League.
I wouldn’t blame Ashley if he looks at that competition and thinks WTF?
    It has skewed the Premiership.
It has made seventh place the most competitive finishing spot in the league after top three, as many more teams than us think twice about whether they want all that hassle for so little reward.
It should not be a booby prize for the failed CL teams.
It should be a competition in its own right and the teams that fail in the qualifying stages of the CL should not get a repechage in the Europa League.
    It’s unfair and anti-competitive.

This Mitrovic kid had better be good after all the fuss. I remember when we signed Hearts top scorer John Robertson and some people were even tipping us for the title. Robertson was a flop. That’s one of the reasons I never get excited about new signings. I seem to recall going to Everton full of high expectation on on the first day of the season having signed Robertson, Hodges, Beasant and Thorn. We got stuffed 4 – 0.

    After Mbemba –
    1) A quality two footed winger – weren’t we linked with someone who fitted the bill earlier last week ?
    2) Van Dijk or Rudiger – the other classy CB
    3) Ideally Banega

Would rather a two footed wide player than Austin if Mitty signs

I don’t see this player coming on loan to us as mourhino expects his players to play he would be a back up left back up here when it would be better to send him to a championship team.

I think it is still relevant.

“The conclusion of the clan Mitrovic was clear: Porto, AS Roma and Benfica also interested in the services of the front, can never align with the proposal of Newcastle. After seeing the figures of the contract, it cannot but agree that Mitrovic received a monster proposal from the English leaders.

Newcastle offers a net annual salary of €2.4 million to the top scorer title in the Pro League. It will also affect large bonuses: 10,000 pounds (€ 11,700) in case of draw and 20,000 pounds (€ 23,500) in case of victory. In addition to a villa and a car made available by the club, Newcastle also pay a signing bonus of €2m. Enough to accept a season (minimum) without European Cup more easily to the ambitious Serbian striker”

    So Fatman came through ?.

I agree on the EL, the champions league drop outs shouldn’t join the EL it belittles the completion. It’s also unfair due to the cash advantage the drop outs bring from the CL.

Is there any other completion in the world were if you fail you get another shot at glory in another one?

If they did the same for the World Cup England may stand a chance of winning something.

If Mitrovic is in London having his medical I’d say it’s because they want to fly him straight to the USA for the last week.

The Monaco defender’s agent insisted a €30 million deal had been struck between the two sides, but the Rossoneri director says the move is impossible

AC Milan will not be signing Aymen Abdennour from Monaco, despite his agent insisting that a deal was imminent, Umberto Gandini, a director at the Serie A side, has confirmed.

The 25-year-old has attracted a lot of interest thanks to his fine performances in the Champions League last term, and the defender’s representative told Shams FM that a €30 million deal had been struck with Milan.

However, Gandini has insisted there is no way the Rossoneri will land the Tunisia international this summer because they cannot fit any more non-European Union players into their team following the acquisition of Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano.

QPR brace themselves ahead of a £15 million swoop from Newcastle for Charlie Austin.

Queens Park Rangers’ prolific striker Charlie Austin is the target of Newcastle United, who are prepping a £15 million bid for the 26-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.

Austin’s future has been much discussed following QPR’s relegation to the Championship, with the likes of Bournemouth, West Bromwich Albion, Southampton, Leicester City, Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Aston Villa all reportedly looking to take him back to the Premier League.

Interest in the Hungerford born striker is unsurprising; he scored 18 goals during his first season in the top flight, despite his teams relegation, and earned himself a call-up to the England squad.

His first season in English football’s top division completed an impressive climb through the leagues, having started his career at non-league side Kintbury Rangers and local team Hungerford Town. His scoring form for Poole FC, where he scored 48 goals in 42 appearances, led to him signing for League One side Swindon Town, where his performances persuaded Championship side Burnley he could step up another level.

His goal scoring form continued, convincing QPR he was the striker to lead their bid for the top flight, and after achieving promotion with the London side, was the Premier League’s fourth top scorer last season.

Even club legend Alan Shearer has tried to coax the striker into a Tyne side switch:

keep spending that cash Ashley and do us proud for once.I wonder where this will leave Riviere’s pipe dreams ?. If these two lads are brought in I think that is his time up with the toon

Mirror claim Abdennour likes idea of coming to Newcastle:

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aleksandar-mitrovics-newcastle-transfer-expected-6093891

“Newcastle are expecting to land Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic this weekend in a £13million deal.

Toon sources say completion of the move is imminent and the 20-year-old Serbia international – who scored 23 goals last season – was due to undergo a medical.

The Geordies are also chasing Monaco centre-half Aymen Abdennour – who has indicated his desire to make the move to St James’ Park.

Magpies boss Steve McClaren has already landed Dutch star Georgino Wijnaldum from PSV and now has £15million-rated Abdennour in his sights.”

    Nitro
    Mbemba

best thing for Armstrong is drop down to the championship and play weekly I will be a bit miffed if he is still with us in sept

cant see us playing 442 so we only play mitrovic or Austin if we sign both
but then if line up 433 in the cup we can have either striker and then riviere wide left cabella or perez on the right

I know riviere shooting was woeful a bit panicked and a bit short of confidence but he gets into good places and showed other good bits to his game I wouldn’t want to right any1 off just yet

Got a feeling in me water that if the signings of Mitrovic, Mbemba and Abdennour actually happen then with the addition of Xherdan Shaqiri and a top left back, Steve McClaren could be close to doing a Howard Wilkinson at Leeds…We will really be top competition for the established 5 money clubs ..

I look at the best way to set a side up is always defence first…And if all goes to plan and Abdennour is bought then we will be solid.

We have a great spark down the left in Rolando Arrons

He can do the same job that John Robertson done for Cloughie , We got our John Robertson ..if he stays fit .

Mitrovic needs a Good supply and Shaquiri is the man.

Compare our centre backs now to the afore mentioned ..you can see why we have suffered at the back ..It’s the first thing any Manager should get right and it’s being attended to !

    Things are looking up …!

got a feeling that Mitrovic’s agent is hanging on and hanging on for a Phone call from a London club .
    .
Agents really make life hard when it comes to signing a player. Greed.
