An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

Comment #3Satka and Bigi were really bad. Not sure why Big was playing right winger though…but he was skinned every time almost it came down on his side.

Comment #4Not so bothered about the score. Only thing that bothers me is the quality of our defence.
We can have a world class midfield and strikers. But if the current crop of defenders are our first team, we’ll be fighting relegation all season. Fact.

Comment #6So the only one of our back 4 who was actually in the right position was Satka? We score 3 but concede 4? Well then, if that does not highlight our chronic desperation for defenders, nothing will! It’s nice to put a few goals in, while also sending signals to those at the top as to what we need. 2CBs and RB cover please!

Comment #7The line-up illustrated our lack of quality in the squad and the need to spend in that area was proven by the score.
So, come on Mr Charnley, let’s see some urgency in the pursuit of the two CBs – at the least – we need.

Comment #8Ferguson has struggled to make the bench at a poor Birmingham side, why is he being persisted with. They’ve said we’re lookin at three transfer windows, there is so much guff in the team and so many contracts running out this season, are they going to spend 50M each window ?

I’d like to think that when McClaren referred to three windows, that he was talking about three windows to overhaul the squad aiming for top quality players to take us into ECL place contention
I don’t think he meant three windows to get what we need now to get that eighth-plus spot – I hope!

If it’s one or the other I’d carry on with Collo and buy a decent young RB along with Mbemba, if I was in charge of the budget it would be all three 🙂

Comment #12I’m not going to get worked up about a defense made up of players that are not going to be on the roster giving up 2 set piece goals and a turnover goal.
What does have me worried is that Sissoko can’t make a simple pass, unless it is to himself. Maybe we should play him at forward.

I think we scored four goals or more something like six times in Pardews four years, three of them was with CHs team and one against a nine man Stoke.

Like I said for me it’s a worry that this type of team is being played at all. Bigi should be out on loan in the Championship in his true position, not trying to bodge him into a RB, it could ruin him.

Comment #16I’m not concerned about the result at all.
We played a ridiculous defence due to the poor pitch plus pre season is time to experiment.
You don’t want to be blitzing teams all pre season. You want to be ensuring that the style of play and fitness is correct.
Teams that go all out in pre season tend to falter halfway through the actual season. You ideally want to be hitting top gear around november time if you want to finish the season strongly.
That’s why it’s so amazing when teams like chelsea manage a full season at full pelt.

Comment #17Shouldn’t be too concerned yet. I remember season we finished fifth our pre-season didn’t go well.
Anyway, one thing we can take away from this loss is that we must keep Aarons fit.

Comment #19Just watched the goals on the vid. The second half team looked slightly better (and it won 2-1). Darlow needs a bit of help with his decision making, but it cant be easy playing behind 7 MFs and a 5th choice cb from the start. When we are on the ball, we mostly look decent, except when goffy lumbers around with it. Did he get awarded HBAs pie alocation??? We did play better 2nd half from the bits i looked at, but the damage was done.

Comment #20I wouldn’t be surprised if we played such a ridiculously inexperienced defence in a 3-5-2 because McClaren wanted Darlow and Woodman to be tested.

Comment #23Still say richards would have been a good.signing. When fit, he is very good at both CB and RB. Better than what we have at CB and slots in at RB very comfortably if janmaat is injured.

Comment #24Not fussed on the result, but I think McClaren has to take some of the blame for the conceding of 4 goals there. I fully understand, and agree that first team players shouldn’t be playing every game, they all need to build fitness, but to drop three lads in for their first starts of the tour – 2 who aren’t really defenders is just pointless. That isn’t going to be a back line we ever use – I hope – but one of them, or two at most alongside more senior players may be. Saylor has hardly played, he should have started alongside Satka, bring him off at half time, if needs be and bring someone else on.
The way McClaren did it will not have benefitted them. Fitness wise, maybe, but pre season is also about building confidence and team cohesion. McClaren’s selection didn’t help that.
Satka should be out on loan this year, along with Sterry, Woodman, Arma, Roberts, Kemen, Bigi and probably a few others. None of them should be getting first team games here until at the earliest January, once they have got good experience on loan.
Ferguson shouldn’t be anywhere near. If Ferguson is named in the 25 man squad it would only demonstrate that the club has regressed at left back.
Anyway, another game done, a few more run outs for a few players. Aarons seems the only one who received praise from everyone. When we get back to England we should start to see the team taking shape, but reinforcements look required asap.

Comment #25Score doesn’t matter and I don’t think the goals we conceded were all that bad.
Bigi at fault at 2 goals in position he’s not used to.
And Sissoko and Gouffran are a fault at the set pieces because that had to go up against the opponents CB:s.

i would argue we only played one defender. Fergy is a LW imo. But you are right, protecting players from that pitch is one thing, fitness wise, but mcc made a few wrong calls last night/this morning. I don’t blame him.too much though, we are desperately short of options at the back.

Comment #32Pleased to see SDJ looking more energetic and moving freely even if it was only 15m.
Sissoko was terrible again, he can’t even pass 5yards without losing it, not impressed at all. People slate Obertan but Sissoko isn’t much better.
I agree with lg the selection didn’t help at all, hopefully after some of their displays he’ll be looking to get rid of a few who just aren’t good enough.
Slightly worried he didn’t play any of our Top CB ( 😉 ) why be to worried about Willo if we’re signing replacements, unless deals to get rid are in the pipeline.

A 3g pitch? Okay, so that would be a good reason to leave Saylor out at this stage in his comeback. But if Lascelles and Willo are fit, then one of them could have played, or a half each. Give Bigi a half in midfield, half at full back (if that is really McClaren’s thoughts) and swap Goofy and Janmaat to allow it to happen.
Why are we arranging matches against reserve sides on 3g pitches anyway? This tour has been poorly organised, pleased McClaren has already spoken out against the tour earlier on. I get the club want to strengthen their brand, but it shouldn’t be detrimental to the football. If we can’t get games with a decent profile on decent pitches then we should be looking elsewhere for pre season. Hopefully McClaren will have a bigger input deciding next year.

Yeah, just read that. 6 of 7 who can’t play on that surface…. Why on earth are we arranging matches for this surface then?? Others had to pay longer and were put at more risk then he would have liked because of the type of injuries they get.
Ludicrous and incompetence from those who organised the tour, clearly with building the brand ahead of the footballing requirements of pre season.
