Chancel Mbemba Is Fast – Watch This Video

4:12 pm, Saturday, July 25th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 101 Comments

chancel mbemba

Chancel Mbemba is a very good center-back and he’s also fast

Here’s a piece of video of him defending against Nigerian International Moses Simon – who joined KAA Gent in January – and is supposed to be the fastest player in the Belgian League.

When is he going to be announced as a Newcastle player?

I Know there’s a few on here who want to keep giving the old guard chances but under no circumstances would I give gouffran another game for this club.Ever,ever.

Ian you don’t have to stay up until midnight to watch championship football anymore. Channel five at 9 pm next season. 🙂

Fast runner, slow writer… Sorry. I am irritating myself now! Bearing in mind the watched kettle, I’m off to do something else. Hope you have a good one folks.

Ian you also mentioned Tsunki has talents? Could you name them?

    Cheers.

  • 9 funkness // Jul 25, 2015 at 4:30 PM

I continued to struggle understanding why so many continue shouting for Austin. The argument that it worked great with Shearer & Ferdinand doesn’t make much sense to me, as the game has changed so much since then. Playing two CFs together leaves the midfield short and outnumbered putting way to much pressure on the CMs and in turn the defence. We need providers and Shaqiri or Thauvin would be exiting, no doubt.
My dream addition though would be Adnan Januzaj. He is already brilliant at a very young age, has PL-experience, can play anywhere across the midfield and would assumably only get better. He was already becoming more of a bit part player last season than the season before, and with Van Gaal seemingly hell bent on buying world class players for every position, he might fall even further behind in the pecking order this coming season ..
With the Euros coming up we could provide him with the perfect platform to excell and get into a highly competitive Belgium team. Januzaj & Aarons on either side of Mitrovic – the prospect of that almost gives me the chills!

  • 10 chasing_rabbits // Jul 25, 2015 at 4:34 PM

Willo wouldn’t have even turned round by the time Mbemba made that challenge…

  • 11 lukes26 // Jul 25, 2015 at 4:35 PM

foot speed isnt that important for a CB

john terry, hyypia, carragher, bruce ..all pretty slow, but very smart

  • 12 SUTTY1978 // Jul 25, 2015 at 4:39 PM

Funkness, he was overrated based on two things, firstly that he is a Man U, secondly that there was an outside chance that he would choose to play for England.
He had one good game that I can remember and though was against a woeful Sunderland team.

  • 13 SUTTY1978 // Jul 25, 2015 at 4:43 PM

Luke, those guys generally play with a quicker man alongside them though eg Terry & Cahill. Recovery speed can be very important more so when your CB Partner is a donkey, this guy might even have been able to sweep up some of Colo’s blunders last season! That was something That Willo could never do

  • 14 JamesToon // Jul 25, 2015 at 4:52 PM

    Van Dijk/Abdennour/Matip
    Shaqiri/Mirallas
    Berahino/Austin

Get them in and we’ll be sorted

  • 15 Moonraker15 // Jul 25, 2015 at 4:53 PM

    Lukes26
foots peed is actually a great asset for a CB! It’s just not that common but if you get it with all the other requirements then you have a very good one.
    Funkiness
We have a better player than Januzai in Aarons but you can’t have them both in the team so I am looking forward to seeing Aarons, Mitrovic, Wijnaldum and de Jong with Ayoze and Sissoko! Mouthwatering!

  • 16 I chose de jong team // Jul 25, 2015 at 5:01 PM

Interesting to see Tavernier’s progress. Scored for Rangers just now. He often seems to get on the scoresheet for a RB

  • 17 Ian Toon // Jul 25, 2015 at 5:03 PM

Belfast – Classic. Put me on the spot – I am sure, quite sure, given time I will be able to come up with something positive to say about him. Whilst you also manage to take him off at the knees. We both know your the talented one I was merely trying to boost his confidence. Why else would his fine prose suddenly become absolute drivel( somewhat like what I am churning out at the moment).
Your a smart geezer ( East end cockney) – lot of them around here – I particularly like ” hello fella” know transgender issues here. As I was trying to blurt out – have you always enjoyed people underestimating you? Your a constant, even tempered sort, irrespective of whatever is going on – you try to give the impression that your anything but insightful but you are. It’s more than a ready wit.
Don’t just agree or disagree with my findings – I am interested to know. I have a mental picture of various bloggers- I exclude JFA because we’ve met although he won’t admit it.
Anyway, I have to go. Thanks for the news of Channel 5 and Football. I’ve watched some of their cricket coverage which is also at a good hour. JUST REMEMBER – without you your double act wouldn’t exist- or something like that!

Hurry up and get onto the next one!

  • 21 I chose de jong team // Jul 25, 2015 at 5:09 PM

I always thought he was alright. Assumed he’d be successor to Simpson. We need RB cover now as well instead of Bigi filling in…

  • 22 Belfast // Jul 25, 2015 at 5:09 PM

    Hahaha brilliant Ian.

Your fee is in the brown envelope.

  • 23 Belfast // Jul 25, 2015 at 5:12 PM

He’s definitely a good player at championship level like and would have been decent cover in my opinion.

He’ll definitely be a top signing for Rangers at that level.

  • 24 Menelauos // Jul 25, 2015 at 5:14 PM

I agree with JamesToon, accept for Austin, having to number 9’s this day and age is useless. If we play 2 upfront we need someone quick, and can pick a pass so they can play off eachother. Ideally I would take Abdennour and Shaqiri, shifting deadwood. Anything after that’s a bonus. (Bare in mind this is a project. Let the new guys we got settle first before piling in more)

    Krul
    Janmaat–Mbemba–Abdennour–Haidara
    Winjaldum–Colback/Tiote
    Sissoko/Cabella–De Jong–Aarons/Perez
    Mitrovic/Cisse

  • 25 rozehnal // Jul 25, 2015 at 5:18 PM

I think 2 more decent signings and we will be hopefully challenging top 8 if not top 6. Shaqiri would be a great signing. Siem De Jong will be one of our star players.

  • 26 nearly // Jul 25, 2015 at 5:22 PM

am i missing something ,why do alot of people seem to think haidara is a good left back and are quite happy with him being the first choice ,maybe its just me but come on no where near good enough imo

  • 27 Menelauos // Jul 25, 2015 at 5:22 PM

And as for foot speed in a centre back. I dare you to find a competitive team which doesn’t play a Centreback pairing of one quick player to intercept and play out, and one big rock, who throws himself around.

  • 28 GeordieTwo // Jul 25, 2015 at 5:23 PM

A lot of you have continued to ask “what about the cabbages G2? Do we keep all 3 cabbages after we finally sign Mybimbo?” Haruumph, yes good point lads. I think walking vegetables aren’t really useful at Prem level so I would immediately sell Willo to the rag man for tuppence. I would give Saylor away at a charity auction, and I would keep Colo on as a CB coach and part time hair dresser……

  • 29 GeordieTwo // Jul 25, 2015 at 5:24 PM

Two more signings and we will be challenging for top 14 rozehnal mate. We have so much dead wood piled up we could make a bonfire that would be seen in London. Harrumph!

    @74 night

tbh i’ve not been impressed by him either !

12mil far too steep imo. if it was a straight swap for cisse then fair enough i think his age would make me feel he could step into his shoes as i’m not so arrogant to not know that most of cisse’s contribution is luck but hey if it works why change it.

if we are not going for the quality that will def improve our first team i.e. mit/wij/mbemba then i’d rather take a risk on a young cheap talent for squad purposes.

  • 78 TheToonKing // Jul 25, 2015 at 6:23 PM

Kongolo ? damn, I really like our approach this window. Kongolo is another wonderkid just on the cusp of breaking through.

We could have a team with great youngsters with a lot of sell on value.

I reckon we’re seeing the much talked about good financial footing at work here. I think the fact that we’re paying whole fee’s money up front right then and there is a big factor why we’re pulling of these signings.

Wijnaldul and Mitrovic – we should npt be anywhere these players normally. And Mbemba is one of the best young defenders in Europe….as is Kongolo…

  • 79 ilovetoon8788 // Jul 25, 2015 at 6:33 PM

Speed is not important for Cb. Positional awareness is key. But speed can sometimes get you out of bail from poor positional play at the first place.

    jesper

If you want to bring in better players to a club that has not performed well of late, and an owner that makes Scrooge look generous, then it will take time.

Our targets need to be convinced they are making the right move, so far our recent history shows us not to be competitive, and we have to convince them that things are changing in the same way the fans need to be convinced.

I agree with most on here that the Mbemba deal is done and he is just waiting for a work permit confirmation.

  • 93 magpiesi // Jul 25, 2015 at 7:49 PM

He might be fast but can he tackle or head the ball away without giving away fouls???

It will take him a few matches to get it right but saying that smc wants us to push up further this year to press opposition so being higher up field pace will be required for over the top balls.

The way we play now with full backs pushing high I wouldn’t be surprised if he changes to wing backs with a few cb’s signed so he can have two upfront.

Well well well, the offending post that catches out pushy pardew as Ian toon seems to have been removed. It used to be a case of simply googling ‘morning pushy not as bad as you’ and you could find it, seems Ian has pleaded with Ed to have it removed.
