Clear-Out At Newcastle – Coloccini And Cisse For Sale

8:48 pm, Saturday, July 25th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 205 Comments

Mark Douglas in the Chronicle today is reporting that Newcastle will let a number of players leave this summer, and he names Mike Williamson, Yoan Gouffran, Mehdi Abeid, Gabriel Obertan, Sylvain Marveaux, Papiss Cisse and captain Fabricio Coloccini as being available for transfer for the right fee.

Leeds United were interested in signing Williamson early in the summer, but that deal didn’t go through, and it was because Leeds United’s bid wasn’t big enough.

Fabricio Coloccini final whislte Chelsea 2-1

Fabricio Coloccini – available for transfer

Haris Vuckic is not on the list, yet he wasn’t on the American tour so maybe we will see him play tomorrow at Sheffield United?

It looks like Steve McClaren is going to have a clear-out of the fringe players, and with Fab Coloccini likely moving to Crystal Palace or even back to Buenos Aries, Steve will need to name a new Newcastle captain for the upcoming season.

Daryl Janmaat was a huge favorite in the poll we conducted earlier this summer.

Who Should Be Newcastle's Captain Next Season?

No offers have come in for any of those players yet, and it could be the latter half of August before any of the players leave the club.

It looks like Newcastle are concentrating on younger players,  and it could be the end for Coloccini (33), Williamson (31) and Cisse (30) who are all in their thirties.

Local lad Steven Taylor will stay, and we will also have Jamaal Lascelles and hopefully Chancel Mbemba by Monday – so those are the center-backs we will have next season.

We also have Curtis Good, but he’s still having trouble with that injury he picked up playing for Australia for the first time in March of last year.

That injury really needs to be fixed because when he’s fit the left-footed Curtis is a decent enough young player, but injuries have halted his progress at Newcastle.

Newcastle will bring in one more center-back and he should be tall – maybe 6’4″ – like former top target Douglas who’s now at Dynamo Moscow and McClaren coached at FC Twente,  or Joel Matip of Schalke.

Aymen Abdennour from Monaco would also be a tremendous signing for us.

Former Aston Villa and Birmingham manager Alex McLeish gives a great interview in the Chronicle today, and says Newcastle have got two top players from Anderlecht in Mitrovic and Mbemba.

Alex coached Genk last season and  says that while Chancel isn’t that tall at around 6′ – he’s a very good header of the ball,  and can get up high to head them away.

It looks like it’s really going to be a new team next season for Newcastle – and we definitely need Charlie Austin brought in and another top center-back.

Sounds good to us.

Comments welcome.

    Ashley Out!

  • 4 Tsunki // Jul 25, 2015 at 8:53 PM

I think the best idea is to take the lads on a picnic somewhere like, I dunno er…Papua New Guinea, and just leave Willo behind. I haven’t a clue where his value of just short of. £2 m comes from but if we got what we paid for him, less than half that, we’d all be laughing. Win-win I’d say.

  • 5 firebug666 // Jul 25, 2015 at 8:54 PM

After some of the trash we had to endure from some of these players last season we should start with some sackings.

Although Ashley is use to selling sh!te so sit back people this could take a while.

Dry my eyes Belfast? Ha ha no chance. A barb from Ian Toon, the text manifestation of a shooting rectal pain, is hard to withstand without tears of laughter. I might have know you’d suck up to him though you cheap tart 🙂

Does anyone know when the season tickets are normally dished out via post ?

  • 8 Tsunki // Jul 25, 2015 at 8:59 PM

I think there are few more motivating forces in an ambitious sportsman’s life than a good old contract cancellation. That’s a decent list the chronic has imagined there, although I just have a feeling Abeid could be made into something. Maybe one of those dolls that hold a toilet roll. No seriously I think it’s a shame he can’t be integrated in your the squad.

So if Coloccini is for sale, that means we will be getting a new captain.

We have a few good candidates for that position, wonder who McClaren will choose?

  • 14 croftus5678 // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:04 PM

so of our current cb’s in what order do we rate them inc good and anyone else who could potentially get a game at cb ?

So we possibly have three through the door and a possible 7 leaving, does that mean more through the doors at SJP?

  • 16 Tsunki // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:06 PM

Yes Jail. The worm has wriggled free for the moment. I have a feeling more mischief is being feverishly framed now he thinks he is no longer detectable.

  • 17 toon kk // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:07 PM

There’s only going to be championship clubs who may bid for our dead wood and they’ll never meet MA valuations, so we may be stuck with them.

  • 18 Toonmania // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:08 PM

Leeds offered 2 mars bars and a pack of cheese & onion for Willo, personally I would have accepted that

  • 19 lochinvar // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:08 PM

Looking at half the list I would say that Age Discrimination is evident !
    Abeid deserves to stay.
Will Colos lass fancy living on South America or London ?
Cisse has earned his pay off in the sun which will be less demanding on his knees. If he’s on his way then Rolan needs to be signed as his replacement .
Most of what’s happening seems to make sense – it’s almost worrying.
I’m off for a lie down.

  • 20 magpiesi // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:08 PM

    Abied 1m
The rest except cisse all 2m including ad ons.

Cisse 7m plus 2-3m add ons = happy days as these players will have to be paid loyalty by nufc I think these rough amounts.

Colo-250k-400k ( last year of contract)
Cisse-300-400k (has two years left and top goal scorer over last years)
Willo,obertan,Goufran-250k ( not on big bucks but only play to cover injuries)

No sure what abied and Marveux would get as been on loan etc.

  • 21 Tsunki // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:11 PM

TFL ha yes that’s something many take for granted, I can count on the fingers of postman pats hand how many hotel beds have even come close, in fact I’ll name them, the Hilton Garden, Halifax NS, the Intercon Manila, the Athenaeum London.

Mind I remember coming home after having a kidney out and trying to sleep upright for a couple of weeks. Not so great.

  • 22 sparky55 // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:13 PM

Colo and Cisse and Tiote and Sissoko will all go to balance the books / get the high earners off the books and pay for the next two signings.

We don’t need Colo anymore as two new centre halves coming in (and he’s old and sh!te!) , we don’t need Cisse anymore because he’s too similar to Mitrovic, we don’t need Tiote anymore with Winj / Colback / Anita all doing that role, and sissoko has good value and no place in the team either so will help balance the books

  • 23 sweendog // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:14 PM

Not sure this list is correct, we still need a cb defensive leader, until that happens collo is the man for that. I do think they are trying to replace cisse with Rolan but I’d be happy if cisse stays.
As for the others abeid etc should be loaned and not sold.

  • 24 ToonFromLeeds // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:14 PM

  • 29 Tsunki // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:19 PM

Hang on hang on haaaaaanng on. Colo is a bottler of derbies. A want-away. A mealy mouthed management suck-up. A silent dull excuse of a captain. That’s why I would like him to just go, and hand that armband over. But one thing he isn’t is a crap CB. He’s been suffering the effects of trying to hold together a back line in which only Janmaat has had a clue where he is and what day it is. He’s still our best CB at the club, and if we got another good CB and LB we’d be laughing. LAUGHING I TELLS YA!

  • 30 Tsunki // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:20 PM

  • 33 Jail for Ashley // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:24 PM

I couldn’t find it on Google but it was after the Wigan game.
Anybody wondering why Ian Toon is accused of having multiple accounts and had been for awhile before this bizarre series of posts, here’s why:
From posts 52 onwards. The muppet was clearly hung over and forgetting to change accounts when talking to himself. For months previously he (Ian Toon) had been using pushy pardew to big himself up and agree with his arguments, using pushy pardew to have a go at me was a favourite of his.
This is why he has invented the character sack Llambias to try and claim it is actually me that is a multiple.

  • 34 wynsleap // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:24 PM

So Colo and Willo out and Taylor (who can’t go two games without being out for months) is left?
Seems like we need three top central defenders if that’s the case. Wouldn’t like to rely on Good and Dummett.
If all these players are being dispensed with we’re going to be pretty shorn of the squad seeing as it’s taken us months to sign just two players – even if they are good ones.
Seems like Charnley has to get his a**e into gear a lot faster if we aren’t going to start the season short of manpower again.

  • 35 Jail for Ashley // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:27 PM

    we dont need 3 defenders:

lecalles to replace willo..mbemba to replace colo..

lescalles, mbemba, dummet, taylor – defence already better then last years..

    but yes..we need 1 more..quality, tall defender..

  • 38 sparky55 // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:30 PM

with one more CB to come in and Good, Dummett. Lacelles and Saylor as back up I don’t think we need anyone else IMO

Never rated him personally but irrespective of whether he kept us up or not (and that’s another argument entirely)…last year was last year…we’ve moved on and he no longer has a place in the team just like Jonas doesn’t.

He’s been transfer listed because we have another CB coming and we have 4 other players as cover. His time is over

  • 45 nightfa11 // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:37 PM

thats true..but if we played anyone instead of wiliamson, wed be in a better shape.. based on injuries and form id play sissoko as cb ;D i mean..hes an avergae midfielder/winger.. hes got pace, stenght, can jump – true athlete..but everything else is avergae.. passing, drubbling, crossing,etc.. sounds like a defender to me 😀

  • 55 Bornandraised // Jul 25, 2015 at 9:57 PM

If Shaqiri comes, as much as I hate to say it, we should sell Cisse and let Ayoze play as a center forward.

Otherwise, Ayoze/Siem/Rolando/Remy should rotate in the positions behind the striker. No one should be buried on the bench, all should be kept fresh, until we know which combination has the best chemistry.

I think Shaqiri plays right side, not 100% on that though. But in terms on quality/ability, he’s a class player in my opinion. With him & Aarons on the wings & Mitrovic waiting in the middle, the would be one hell of a forward line.

If Colo is up for sale we are definitely getting another CB – let’s hope its another upgrade. Unproven or not in the EPL Van Dijk would be a Colo upgrade imo

As Tiote is not up for sale he is presumably staying – all assuming there is any truth in the feature but .if I was buying another player before the Autumn I’d be buying Banega or someone very similar.

Shaqiri plus another class CB would be enough until January window. Let’s not be greedy now….

Those comments came from a guy who worked in a bar Mitrovic used to go in… Hardly a professional opinion than a biased one! And in the same article it gives details of the head but & separate spitting at opposition fans…

    Tsunki @ 73

What if Barcelona had said that about Suarez before they signed him?! They’re no “hearsay bad boy stories”. All based on fact, Mitrovic has a tainted reputation for his antics on & off the field, but similar to Suarez, a talented player, and I believe that he will be very successful for us.

  • 86 JackButler // Jul 25, 2015 at 10:35 PM

Surprised it’s taking so bloody long to get defenders in as the season starts in three weeks and players need as much time as possible to settle

  • 87 Bornandraised // Jul 25, 2015 at 10:40 PM

I think we are signing two more players (one attacking, one center defender), and we are just waiting to see if our 1st choice will come before moving for our second or third choice. Austin will come only if they come down on price because his wage demands are high.

    1. Abdennour/Matip/Van Djik
    2. Shaqiri/Austin/Rolan

I wouldn’t complain about any combination.

Don’t forget there’s the small matter of getting a work permit for Mbemba.

If he has signed, his contract could be conditional on the work permit being issued.

The photo shoot could well have been arranged to enable a quick announcement when the permit’s issued.

Unless Charnley’s forgotten the announcement, I can’t think of any other reason for the delay in making it.

  • 102 voodoo85 // Jul 25, 2015 at 11:05 PM

Hope we dont let Colo go without another top CB being brought in. Imagine starting the season with Mbemba, Taylor, Williamson and Lascelles as top 4 CB’s – no thanks.

Taylor is injury waiting to happen. Williamson not good enough and the other 2 unproven yet.

  • 105 ToonTiger // Jul 25, 2015 at 11:16 PM

Anyone else seen the mirror link of an allegedly bidding for Carrick?

  • 106 Bobbybee // Jul 25, 2015 at 11:17 PM

Markmac 88 Sheff utd box office opening at 11.30 to sell the remaining away end tickets. First come first serve. I’d be waiting for them to open just in case. That said, as one of the purposes of the game is to raise money for charity, I’d be surprised if they would turn anybody away when there’s money to be made.

  • 107 chasing_rabbits // Jul 25, 2015 at 11:19 PM

I guess that those are the players we are actively trying to move on. If bids come in for anyone else & Ashley sanctions the sale, it would be business as usual. But those players aren’t necessarily “for sale”. I’m not looking to sell my car, but if a guy comes up to me in Asda car park and offers me a price that meant I make a huge profit on it, I’d snap his hands off!

Maybe Ashley is going to surprise us all and not sell our “best players”this window… Probably wait until we’re in a decent position come Christmas & do it during the Jan window…

  • 110 Bobbybee // Jul 25, 2015 at 11:38 PM

Lesh, bang on with the work permit being the hold up. He will get one, but as with all forms of bureaucracy it takes time when it’s not dead simple. Can’t really announce the deal until the WP is actually cleared, or they’d look a bit daft if there was a genuine reason to deny him one. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him at Sheffield tomorrow – just not playing. The deal ‘s done, just waiting to dot the i’s and cross the t’s. He’ll be ready to go before the season starts.

  • 111 Novocastrian66 // Jul 25, 2015 at 11:41 PM

    Shirebrook Toon

They’ve got the others spot on, so at this stage I’m inclined to believe that at least, we are looking at him… They also mention a “cut price deal” which makes it all the more believable. Their source seems reliable. They claimed earlier to have contact with Sissoko’s agent (or a close acquaintance, cant remember their exact words) so who knows who else they are talking to. Seems legit though.

  • 114 Bobbybee // Jul 25, 2015 at 11:49 PM

Shirebrook. That rotund chap I used to give a lift to games – the one from Mansfield/Shirebrook area? I remember he was called Mark, but can’t recall his surname – if I ever knew it. Worked shifts in a supermarket I believe. Lots of Mags down that area due to the pit closures up here resulting in offers of work in the Notts pits. You might know him, might not.

ST, oh well, bit of a long shot anyway. I know a few Derby fans myself from my time down there. Best football they’d seen in decades was under Macca, according to them. They should’ve been promoted the season before last, but for that late goal for QPR – their only shot on target the whole game. They’ve landed on their feet anyway with their new gaffer, so all’s well etc. Always been a bit of a bogey team for us anyway!

ST. Get on this. Took a car full down to Derby for the fifth round of the youth cup. Got chatting to some derby lads as we were all in together and I was bigging up Arma – just before he scored the winner with a lovely cool finish. (Sent the defence and keeper one way whilst he stuck it in the other corner of the goal). Three weeks later I was at a northern soul weekender at Prestatyn in Wales. Waiting to get served at the bar i got talking to this lad and he said he was from derby. Laughing i told him i was down that end for the youth cup game which we won 1-0, when he nearly fell off his stool. Turned out he was the same lad we were talking to at the game! What ‘s the chances of that? When he called his mate over, he recognised me straight away. Bizarre coincidence or what? 😉

  • 146 The overrated Frenchman // Jul 26, 2015 at 3:45 AM

Tsunki way back @29 – Good post on Colo. Agree entirely. Can still be a useful player for us without the pressure on him. Relieve him of the captaincy, pick and choose a bit the games he starts, and I think he’ll contribute. He has experience and a touch of class. I guess his wages are an issue though if he’s not going to be a front-line player, and at this stage of his career he’ll want first team football while he can get it I suppose. Could go either way.

  • 147 expatmag // Jul 26, 2015 at 3:54 AM

  • 148 The overrated Frenchman // Jul 26, 2015 at 4:18 AM

Good player Shaq. Saw him a bit (on the TV) at Bayern. Not sure where he’d fit into our team though. Think we need a genuine winger more. When he plays wide on the right he comes inside being left-footed. If he plays wide on the left he’s competing with Aarons. If he plays that inside forward role he’s competing with de Jong. Mind you, fitting him in wouldn’t be a bad problem to have.

Even if that were the case, it’s possible that he would prefer a move to the premier league over going back to Germany. A new challenge, probably bigger wages, the attraction of playing in the premier league, plus we seem to be doing something right to attract people to us. As JDdubai says, we didn’t think we would end up with Mitrovic but he turned down guaranteed CL football to come to us. See how the story develops, I keep banging on about Soccer_Sauce but they seem to be the only reliable source for transfer info on NUFC, and they are the ones to report it first again.

Personally I don’t believe the report about Austin’s wage demands… Wasn’t that reported by the mirror……….. Cant see why we would be interested in him anyway now, unless he wants to share the bench warming duties.

As for Shaqiri, I’m keeping an open mind at the moment, and like I say will just wait for the story to develop (if indeed it does at all), I can’t say I would be disappointed if we didn’t get him at this stage, because we can’t even confirm we’re after him! So I certainly wouldn’t put money on it!

However I have to disagree with your point @ 159. Mitrovic is perfect example. He turned down two other clubs who could offer regular CL football to join us. I dare say Wijnaldum had other options too, no doubt some playing in CL.

  • 162 will die for the toon army // Jul 26, 2015 at 7:14 AM

He’s a class act small with great upper body strength plays in a Ben arfa position with a eye for a goal and a quality set piece taker mainly uses his left foot.

About a month ago he was rumoured to be joining schalke but they are not in cl this season so now his agent is waiting for other options.

    Bayern,Wolfsburg,Leverkusen,and m’gladbach qualified.

    Will Die

But neither are we in CL, so if it that he’s looking for then we won’t sign him either? Maybe that’s why he refused Stoke? We don’t even know how firm the interest is or at what stage talks are at if they’ve even started so lets not get too worked up either way about him

  • 165 jimmysmith // Jul 26, 2015 at 7:22 AM

The problem with Newcastle moving on players is I’m assuming wages, since we have the on balance good approach of offering long contracts on decent money, it’s difficult to shift them if they are no longer prized. Cisse could be sold, because of his goals, possibly Collocini for his experience and quality and Abeid because of his age and I’m guessing lower wage, someone might take them for a nominal fee and match their wages, but why would Newcastle essentially write off a player, who can still contribute, and why would a player leave to take a pay cut, unless desperate to resurrect their careers at a lesser club. We only sell if the offer is good, I’d be surprised if many of these unwanted players didn’t stay and wind down their contracts.

On Austin…….you have to wonder why he hasnt moved yet. Perhaps a combination of high transfer fee and high wages requested.

On Shaquiri……yes. Schalke are not in the CL yet but I would say they have more of a chance than us in the future.

On Mitrovic…..there is no evidence to show that Porto Benfica Roma or anyone else for that matter bid for him plus isnt he a self confessed Toon fan?

  • 174 chasing_rabbits // Jul 26, 2015 at 7:37 AM

I have a theory that Cisse is going up for sale to a) cash in while we can & b) so Mitrovic can have the #9. He wanted it at Anderlecht but they wouldn’t strip it off their current guy at the time, but their circumstances were different. (he settled for 45 on the logic that 4+5=9 I believe). I then think that we will settle with Perez, Riviere & de Jong as cover should Mitrovic be injured or suspended. I cant see anybody wanting to come in who doesn’t want to be first choice without ending up with another Riviere. That gives us 4 options for a forward when only 1 to be played at a time.

  • 175 Bornandraised // Jul 26, 2015 at 7:39 AM

JS, good points. I also don’t see us taking a loss on players unless we really don’t have space on our roster, which we shouldn’t have a problem with this season with all the under-21s who are contributors. We might loan some out but only if the situation is right and a team is willing to pay the wages.

Assuming we go into the season with a full roster, and basing transfers on soccer sauce rumors and realistic expectations, this is how I see our roster playing out. Obviously some of the fringe players will depend on what other teams are interested in.

Also, Elliott, Ferguson and Vuckic are included in your Loan/Sell list but are not being reported as no longer required.

  • 183 chasing_rabbits // Jul 26, 2015 at 7:50 AM

Austin hasn’t moved because nobody has met QPR’s valuation on the fee. All I’m saying is I don’t think he would be as stupid to demand high wages on top of a high transfer fee and risk having to play in the Championship next year when there seems to be plenty of people interested in the PL.

Shalke definitely have a better chance of CL than us, but that could be irrelevant anyway. Remember its not him who is pushing for a move away from Inter – Mancini has said he is looking to offload so he might not get to be as picky! And between us & Shalke we may seem more attractive destination.

Ok agree with you on Mitrovic, as there is no solid evidence. But he was linked with Porto, Roma, Man U, Chelsea amongst others and I can’t believe all of those clubs would have passed up such a good opportunity to land a young potentially huge talent. Just because he’s a fan doesn’t mean he wants to play for us. There are plenty of professionals playing for clubs they didn’t support as a lad, if it means playing at a higher level. I doubt Aguero was a city fan growing up.

  • 185 Belfast // Jul 26, 2015 at 7:55 AM

I think Austin is still on championship wages to be honest. 20-25 grand a week at most. He’s only had one contract at Qpr and it was signed in the championship I think.

  • 186 jimmysmith // Jul 26, 2015 at 7:55 AM

The guy that was laughing and joking and congratulating Defoe for his strike in the tunnel at halftime during the Derby, on our way to losing five in a row, against our bitterest foes.

Most keepers are a bit odd, probably because they are essentially playing one game, while everyone else is playing another. The skill set is totally different. He’s also from Holland, where oddballs grow on trees. ( that’s a bit of a joke, even though we all know it’s true.)

Out of all our regulars, and despite being a top class keeper, he’d be way down the bottom of my list of skippers. Colback.

    Jesper and Chris

Didn’t know Alnick had been released. Then I don’t they will sell Elliott, no way are they reliving last year’s debacle.

I don’t think Lascelles is u-21. Compare to other squads we do have a lot of good u-21 players. This is the year to make some deep cup runs.

  • 188 terencelim // Jul 26, 2015 at 7:58 AM

  • 189 Bornandraised // Jul 26, 2015 at 7:59 AM

Jesper – agreed. I think we are way more likely to sell players on their last year of their contract, all other things being equal.

  • 190 Belfast // Jul 26, 2015 at 7:59 AM

Austin is way behind some of the biggest earners at Loftus Road.

Joey Barton is the highest-paid player at QPR on £90,000-a-week and Croatian winger Niko Kranjcar is on just over £60,000.

Austin signed a three-year deal worth £28,000-a-week when he joined from Burnley in a £4million move in 2013.

  • 191 magpiesi // Jul 26, 2015 at 8:02 AM

Good work, but looking at the list is quite scary with the season only two weeks away and shows the way the club has been run over the years with only 7 over 26 year olds and the rest being players signed on the cheap.

Three of the older players are at the heart of the leaky defence colo, tayls and willo. The other 3 tiote,de Jong and cisse have all been injured with only Krul playing regularly.

Then the weakness in positions mainly f/backs you can see why we struggled.

  • 192 Bornandraised // Jul 26, 2015 at 8:02 AM

Slank – I think we would sell all those players you mentioned if a good offer came in, but that is a big if because they are on relatively higher wages (especially Colo).

Ferguson we are going to loan out to see if he can increase his value, he has no value right now.

It has been reported that QPR wants Vuckic as part of the deal for Austin. If you run into Les Ferdinand, make sure to let him know that Vuckic would do great in the Championship.

Teren – We are a couple of weeks away from having to name a roster, and if the last few seasons have been any guide, the last guys on the roster end up playing a big role, so its interesting.

Look at last year, we needed a 5th center back and didn’t have one, and that is with Dummett playing center back, when we didn’t have any back up fullbacks. No roster depth or balance and it was a disaster, players playing out of position.

  • 196 Bornandraised // Jul 26, 2015 at 8:12 AM

Mourinho, you can tell him to stop crying so much.
LVG, just walk away from before you get hurt.
Wenger, you can just laugh at hysterically, no need to say a word.

  • 197 chasing_rabbits // Jul 26, 2015 at 8:13 AM

So to say he’s now requesting £85,000 could well be some fictions bullturd published by our friends at the mirror, perhaps to put their own conclusions as to why no transfer to another club has been agreed yet. Its almost certain he will leave QPR & this will be probably the longest running saga of this window so the press have got to do something to keep the fire alive whilst there seems to be little movement on it so far.

Coloccini shouldn’t be sold until adequate replacement is signed up. That would be a disaster. I know he wasn’t brilliant all last season but he still has alot to offer the team. You will probably see a different player to that last season anyway with McClaren & his staff.

  • 198 Bobbybee // Jul 26, 2015 at 8:16 AM

I see Downing has been giving it large, saying something about him trying to warn Macca off about coming here. Plus, that he chose Boro ahead of us and the mackems blah blah blah. I refuse to believe their was any truth in the story we were in for him anyway. He’s not even a ‘has been’ – more of a ‘never was’ imo. Thinks far to highly of himself. Whereas I can see we might just possibly go for an older player for experience, you just have to look at the players we’ve signed already to realise it wouldn’t be him! Somebody who’s ambition and lack of quality results in him dropping down to the Championship, simply doesn’t fit with the profile of our current targets. Deluded little smoggie. 🙂

  • 199 cestriasteve // Jul 26, 2015 at 8:17 AM

Going back to the funeral of the old Gateshead manager at the wake a couple of the lads got into conversation with Carver who said that 60 million was to be released for players before the start of the season, obviously he wasn’t to be trusted with the dosh so he was sacked. That still leaves a sizeable chunk to be used by McClean.
I suppose his biggest problem is trying to maintain the 60% wages to income ratio.
Finally this Carrick link is absolute rubbish, he will never play for the toon, I’ve heard him say it myself with total vitriol aimed at Ashley.

Krul – good but poor distribution
    Janmaat – solid
Mbemba – a breath of fresh air
Centre back – need someone better than we have the rest should be cover or gone
Left back – Haidara and summer should be cover neither good enough in both directions
Holding midfield – we need a better alternative to tiote
Colback – decent player however he needs to keep improving
Playmaker – we still need one – sdj and Wijnaldum are not it
Wijnaldum – as an attacking midfielder he reminds me slightly of Gary speed in that he is box to box and arrives late to score
Sissoko – I’d keep him as on a more consistent side he may be too.
Perez – great talent hope he stays for a long time
Aarons – could surprise a lot of clubs he needs to sign a very long contract with a massive buyout clause. Could be the next sterling.
Mitrovic – target man who needs service and pace around him.
Riviere – nowhere near good enough
    Willo – gooooooo! !
    Elliot – join him
Abeid – not good enough sorry
    Gouffran – see Abeid
    Arma – loan out
    Lascelles – back up cb
    Saylor – back up cb.
Colo – time to say farewell and thanks
Cisse – I’d keep him but if we get Austin or another quality striker at his age and knee problems I’d possibly cash in now. But 3 quality strikers would give us a great strength in depth

“Crazy idea to start talking about selling players, while the club has added only 2 new players to the team that almost relegated last season.”

Not really…a new manager has come in, he’s bought three, he’s buying at least another two but I’ve heard three, we’re overloaded in midfield, we’ve got 4 players to cover / supplement Mitrovic up front, we’re a bit sparse at the back but no point in keeping sh!te players as cover when we have youth and a couple more defenders coming in…and of course we have to balance the books.

IMO Ashley will not have a nett spend of any more than 30 million and he wants the biggest earners with no real future at the club off his books….too many players on 60k a week that don’t fit in with the new managers plans so they have to go.

Hence Cisse will go, Tiote will go, Colo will go and Sissoko will go.

The rest are all chump change and their wages coming off the books help pay the wages of the better newcomers.

Sissoko and Tiote are not on the official transfer list to make sure we get the best price for them…but everyone in football knows they’re available.

I’m a happy bunny…we’re making fantastic progress and getting rid of some proper dross
