Newcastle Announce Delay In Visa For Chancel Mbemba

12:48 pm, Sunday, July 26th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 175 Comments

There’s been a delay is securing a visa for Chancel Mbemba,  and it’s due to the FA not being able to meet until this coming Thursday to consider giving Newcastle their OK on the visa.

Chancel Mbemba – Visa delay due to FA

Newcastle have just released the following communication about the status of the transfer of Mbemba from Newcastle to Anderlecht:

Chancel Mbemba Deal Moves Closer

Following an agreement between Newcastle United and Anderlecht for the transfer of Chancel Mbemba, the player has been in Newcastle and has agreed personal terms with the Club and undergone his medical.

The documentation in relation to the Club’s application for a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE), required in order for Mbemba to obtain a visa, was submitted to the FA on Wednesday morning (22nd July).

Unfortunately, the FA are unable to consider the Club’s application until Thursday of next week (30th July).

The FA advised the Club they were not able to convene a Panel any sooner.

The Club will provide an update for supporters at the earliest opportunity following the conclusion of the Panel hearing.

The tone of that communication suggests the club are not at all happy with the FA seeming to drag their feet on this.

It looks like everything is agreed for the deal – the transfer fee to Anderlecht, the compensation package for Mbemba, and it seems he must have passed his medical.

Comments welcome.

CHange the name from Newcastle United to Chelski, Manure, Arsenill, Lillypool or Spuds and the panel would have convened 23rd July

  • 5 WWSBRD // Jul 26, 2015 at 12:54 PM

Well someone at NUFC has a little attitude towards the FA don’t they haha

Must be pretty confident they can push the visa through otherwise they surely wouldn’t of gotten this far

What did Will Carling call the English Rugby Union Committee ? – – – – – 57 old farts !!!
I think we have the same problem with the FA
Outmoded and not fit for purpose.

  • 7 Belfast // Jul 26, 2015 at 12:54 PM

I bet they would convene a panel sooner if he was joining Man Utd or Chelsea.

  • 11 Tsunki // Jul 26, 2015 at 12:58 PM

Bah you’re all just moaners. There’s positive things being done by the FA and they’ve learned their lessons from the past. We should all move on and stop listening to these ‘neggers’ whingeing constantly about our Football Association, after all, it’s on a sound financial footing now….

  • 12 expatmag // Jul 26, 2015 at 12:58 PM

Re the visa issue, could it be the same for Mitrovic and why he is not named in the game today?

It will give them both time to getting their personal affairs sorted before coming over.

Typical of the FA, it’s the transfer window for gods sake . They should be available all the time have they not heard of conference calls. Anyway it should only take one person to look at the information!.

I read tgat he didn’t qualify for a working visa so NUFC have to go through to a further look into the lad before it can be granted that’s why it needs a full panel to my understanding

  • 18 Tsunki // Jul 26, 2015 at 1:04 PM

I understand the FA’s plight, I mean have you ever tried convening a panel in less than a week? it’s a nightmare I can tell you. Panel convening is an art more than a science. There’s the panel, first of all, you have to get one of those. Then there’s the convening you have to be a qualified convener or get a specialist in, can’t just convene it yourself willy-nilly so to speak. And then the panel has to be fit for being convened! Get it wrong and there’s all sorts of problems. Glad we’ve got the FA to do this.

Why doesn’t Ashley flex his financial muscles in situations like this when it comes to Newcastle? He does in his other business interests. Money talks, Ashley has money – why is he mute? All the other rich clubs splash out the filthy lucre to curry favour, I don’t know why we don’t. God knows Ashley has no morals or scruples to stand in his way.

You may be right but all I picked up on early morning was that the reposts seemed to have come from JFA against the run of play so to speak. Not checked back or at the further reposts as it is up to Ian to defend himself if he wishes. Happy to leave it there as I didn’t want to make it a saga but I do appreciate you want to put your side.

the scary thing is why play someone when its clear they are a weak link ?

makes me think he’s thinking of playing saylor/williamson/anita ect instead of showing them the door.

@Novo: Probably quite high, to be honest. The new FIFA rules about the top 50 international clubs really puts a stickler in us.

That being said, we wouldn’t have put a bid in if we thought there was a chanee it would be denied. Hopefully they can sort it out quickly.

Whooo whooo Newcastle have now scored from a corner.

  • 143 expatmag // Jul 26, 2015 at 2:46 PM

Couple of points that might be relevant.

He might be playing the likes of Williamson for shop window purposes. I would imagine if Leeds are seriously interested, they would have representatives at Sheffield watching him.

I doubt the players are giving more than 75% and this is more about match conditioning and avoiding jnjuries than results

  • 155 Ian Toon // Jul 26, 2015 at 2:54 PM

Colback would be my captain. Local boy who grew up supporting the toon. My support of the toon is about who I am and where I am from. In England a fan’s choice of a team is largely random. Few clubs have particular religious or class affiliations and few English people have any more an attachment dating back generations to any particular location.

    That’s nice of you.

Joins NUFC and walks straight into captaincy 😉

  • 161 geordie157 // Jul 26, 2015 at 2:59 PM

We are crying out for a shawcross type of centre back!

Mbemba and a new centre back to start the season.
Taylor, lascelles and dummett as the back ups.

  • 166 will die for the toon army // Jul 26, 2015 at 3:02 PM

We need four CBs if it were possible. I think we r ok going to forward but we dont convert our chances. If we have a poor defence like that then we dont Anita on that pitch. We have to first get beasts in defence for Anita to play or else I will start with Cheick or Abeid.

  • 167 ToonFromLeeds // Jul 26, 2015 at 3:06 PM

    Armchair
Wijnaldum is a leader and will be an awesome captain, wouldn’t want Colback anywhere near the captaincy

  • 168 will die for the toon army // Jul 26, 2015 at 3:06 PM

My choice is either Krul with Jannmatt and Colback as his assistants.

Belfast – So what was the final score?

  • 170 Our Toon // Jul 26, 2015 at 3:07 PM

Doesn’t matter where you are from utter nonsense to give captaincy to someone who is a local lad based on the reasons that he’s local, let’s give saylor vice captaincy then, a captain is a leader, they drive the team forward. We don’t have many natural leaders on the pitch or off it but common sense would say it has to be SDJ. Wasn’t long ago young Colback was telling us all to shut up when scoring against us. Personal opinion is that I don’t think he’s good enough to start.

SDJ has captained at all levels of football from youth, national and right through to senior level. A natural leader, I know alot like Janmaat but he showed as much leadership qualities as Colo when turning his back multiple times last season instead of putting his body on the line.

  • 171 geordie157 // Jul 26, 2015 at 3:07 PM

Time to sell cisse while we can get some money for him, replace with Austin. Would say berahino but 20mill plus seems too much.

  • 172 Our Toon // Jul 26, 2015 at 3:09 PM

Wij isn’t a bad shout but how will the squad react to a new signing being made as skipper!! Don’t think it’ll have a good impact

  • 173 Blackley and Brownlie // Jul 26, 2015 at 3:20 PM

    Ian
Where are you going with that one? I would say core support for every team is from the club’s locality. Even Man Utd.

  • 174 will die for the toon army // Jul 26, 2015 at 3:20 PM

It seems like the team trust De Jong and give him respect and he is a player every one thinks is the best at NUFC recent competition coming from Wijnaldum. But I think he is the best playera at NUFC right now.

The arm band wld go to him no question but the team will lose its way if he gets injured or doesnt get back to top form.

  • 175 isleofmanman // Jul 26, 2015 at 4:05 PM

There is NO WAY that this lad is 20 years old

FIFA having him registered with FOUR different birth dates should surely have the wherewithal to get to the bottom of the issue?

Failing which give him a Dendro test
