Newcastle’s New Away Strip For Next Season

10:28 pm, Tuesday, July 28th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 146 Comments

What is said to be Newcastle’s new PUMA away strip for next season is starting to do the rounds (again) on the Internet and it’s a white short with light blue trim.

new strip 1

Here’s a back view of it and it’s all white a bit like the home strip.

new strip the back nufc

Here’s another view of it with the blue looking a little darker in this shot.

new strip 2

And here’s what is looked like when it was first leaked back in mid-May while we were fighting against relegation, and it looks a bit washed out, just like the Newcastle team at that time.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Welshie…….. You were going to bet that we wouldn’t get Mitrovic or Austin. I wanted to do the double but you bottled it.

I wonder who designed that ferk up

  • 6 The Newcastle Armchair // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:36 PM

Tbh we’ve always had a mingin second strip.. Does Ashley hire someone to pick the worst possible strip every season?

Bring back the Brazil away strip!

    Now this is a laugh:

My well placed sources in the midlands claim #NUFC have accepted a bid in the region of £6.2m for Mike Williamson from Aston Villa. #AVFC

  • 10 switch365 // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:39 PM

IF it becomes available pre-printed with our new signing “Abdennour” on the back along with his team number “6” on it, available in various sizes off the rack in all SD and other sporting outlets, as well as direct from nufc.co.uk, I’d be more than happy to buy it!

  • 11 Altamullan // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:41 PM

Ed, I think this is the strip you really want to buy: http://themagpiebrand.co.uk

Show a sense of unity; have a feeling of togetherness. Take some control back of our heritage? Buy yersel a shirt, buy one for a bairn (anyone will do!)

  • 12 Belfast // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:41 PM

Is it grey or is it white?

  • 13 WLtoon // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:43 PM

    Worst strip ever.Well almost

  • 14 bettyswallocks // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:44 PM

I’m getting quite a strong feeling that we should keep Vuckic and see what Schteve can get out of him.

    Anyone feel the same?

  • 15 magpiesi // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:46 PM

Anyone know what pos djuricic plays? I remember seeing him play a few games for Southampton but was only as sub.

Have heard a few bits on radio about him possibly on loan as benfica want £5m €8m for him I’m not sure if this is just because he is Serbian.

They also mentioned the niang lad from Milan who has been linked with us for the last few years now apparently rejecting a bid from nufc.

  • 16 Belfast // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:52 PM

He obviously wasn’t that great if Southampton have no interest in signing him permanently.

  • 17 Sazzer // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:53 PM

Djuricic best position is behind striker or false nine.

  • 18 Tsunki // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:56 PM

    Ashley Out!

  • 19 Tsunki // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:57 PM

    Betty – no.

Is that last shirt a goalie one or a previous fail? The white one looks like jimjams.

  • 20 Sazzer // Jul 28, 2015 at 10:58 PM

I think Southampton used him mostly as a winger.

  • 21 Harley // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:00 PM

On the vuckic story, I’d be amazed if a club value him at even 1m.
I know him to talk to, we don’t hang out but I speak to him now and then.
He’s definitely got talent and he’s a good lad and a model professional. He doesn’t drink at all and doesn’t go out hitting the bars and clubs as he doesn’t want to do anything that can hinder his career.
But he is so injury prone I doubt anyone would pay a decent fee for him.

If we really want Austin I reckon QPR won’t want Vuckic in return.

  • 22 lochinvar // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:01 PM

Puma must be a Sports Direct own brand as they certainly have no class.
Adidas must be having a laugh at their expense .
    Woolworths could do better.

  • 23 Tsunki // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:03 PM

Surely that shirt won’t have the old Wonga logo on it?

  • 24 magpiesi // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:04 PM

    Cheers

They were mainly talking about his time with herenveen saying he was very good player with good technical ability but went to benfica and lost form and ended up going on loan to a few teams saying he just needs a run of games to get some confidence.

  • 25 LewSpi v2.0 // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:07 PM

    TFL @ 9

the most ridiculous thing about that sentence is he words ‘well placed’ and ‘Mike Williamson’ in the same sentence

    Lochinvar

Correct, sports direct (or rather Mike Ashley) is primary stakeholder in puma

  • 26 Tsunki // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:07 PM

So what exactly is the deal to get Charlie Austin then? Will Qpr take 6 deadwood players off us plus a dumpy bag of pea gravel and some plywood shuttering? Perhaps a spares or repair dvd player? I don’t get what’s going on, is he in the frame or not?

  • 27 Tsunki // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:10 PM

A brand stands very little chance of retaining it’s quality reputation once Mike has dragged it over the toilet floor.

  • 28 bettyswallocks // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:11 PM

Harley…………..seems a shame he hasn’t had a decent injury free spell when you look at ar.e holes like Ranger spun king his career away.

  • 29 Tsunki // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:14 PM

Ranger had the definite air of talent. it’s hard to understand how he could have thought it was a good idea to chuck it all out of the window, but he did all right.

  • 38 Our Toon // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:25 PM

The problem with offering more than 1 player is these squad members need to be replaced. If we get rid of the likes of willo, saylor, Colo, Obertan, Gouffran, Riviere, Abeid etc these lads are squad players…..what do we do when an injury crisis hits? Think back to Alnwick in goal, god forbid we get back in that situation!!

  • 39 jane // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:28 PM

I find it a bit strange that before McClaren was appointed there was a lot of negativity about him but now there is hardly any.

  • 40 Our Toon // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:28 PM

    Blackley

Jeff/Jib decided to weigh into a debate regarding club football and advertising / finances by naming that world famous club team Brazil and using them as an argument to back a claim which had nothing to do with countries but everything to do with club football. Still don’t get what he was trying to get to this day

    Soon after Jeff became jib

    🙂

  • 42 LewSpi v2.0 // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:35 PM

    Jane

Why do you find that strange? When mcclaren signed he had just been sacked from Derby after a monumental collapse in the 2nd half of the season.

However he has came in, offered what seems like a fresh, open and honest insight into the club, almost offering it back to us, the fans.

Believe you me, the negativity is still just below the surface of the majority of fans, it’s just been temporarily masked by a cautious optimism, a “let’s see what you’ve got” attitude.

  • 43 Tsunki // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:38 PM

Blackley if you mean comedic value I agree, liberally dosed with pathos. Ian as usual posts his flowery waffle in a vacuum where sense can’t breathe, and Jeff is just a dog trying to bite moving car tyres no real purchase on what’s going past him but plenty of intent.

If you somehow think they contribute to the vitality of the blog, then have another thought.

  • 44 Tsunki // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:41 PM

Jane worry not over those feelings of strangeness. The negativity is in the cupboard under the stairs, ready, just like the vacuum cleaner, for when the time is right.

  • 45 Bambams // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:42 PM

I think we should give Vuckic until January. Give him a few games in the cup….
I genuinely believe that playing him in an attacking footballing team he could do well.

  • 46 Tsunki // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:45 PM

Bambams yes but even fully fit he looks comically slow. Seems like a fatal flaw.

  • 47 bettyswallocks // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:52 PM

Bambams…….. Glad someone agrees with me.

Jane……… Tarzan thinks that if we don’t hit the ground running then the knives will be out. They are still sharp and won’t become blunt until we see some proper football.

  • 48 bettyswallocks // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:54 PM

Tsunki…….. Did you not see the recent goal vid.? He doesn’t look so slow on there.

  • 49 Bobbybee // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:55 PM

I reckon the only reason Vuckic didn’t get game time for us was he didn’t get on with Pardew. When you consider how many chances Pardew gave Obertan and Gouffron – despite their continual failures – you have to wonder why a technically better player like Vuckic was repeatedly overlooked. Or was it that Obertan was a personal buy from Fergie, who clearly saw him coming? I’d like to see Vuckic get what other lesser talented players are getting – a clean slate and a chance to prove his worth. Nothing more. He clearly hasn’t had that, which is strange. He’s always looked a talent when playing for the U21’s /reserves and was clearly more than a cut above the rest at Rangers – as he should of course. I just think it’s odd.

  • 50 ToonFromLeeds // Jul 28, 2015 at 11:58 PM

Nice goal from Vuckic but it was against kids, he’s not good enough for first team

  • 51 Offkey // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:01 AM

Not a big Vukic fan. Hope the lad does well but cant see him doing it at NUFC as I cant see him getting anywhere near the 1st team apart from cups but we’re taking these seriously now apparently……….

  • 52 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:02 AM

    TFL

Glad you decide who’s good enough for the team, you know, because of your amazing football knowledge and expertise… 🙂

  • 53 bettyswallocks // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:04 AM

TFL……if he’s been struggling with injuries he may have been holding back.seems like he wants to impress Mc Claren who has given everyone a clean slate.

No harm in giving him a chance . We’ve had him a long time now.

  • 57 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:06 AM

TFL. Is Obertan? Is Goofy? Williamson? They’ve been given a chance denied Vuckic. As somebody who regularly watches our U21’s, I can assure you he’s a cut above many of our first teamers, including obviously, thorse above. How many of those so quick to condemn him are going off their own personal judgement, having watched him on a regular basis, rather than just repeating what others – many who themselves haven’t watched him – have to say?

  • 58 ToonFromLeeds // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:06 AM

Bobby – In a 4-2-3-1, IMO Cabella, Perez, De Jong, Wijnaldum and even Sissoko would be played in the No.10 role before Vuckic.

I dont think he would be put out wide.

and we would still have Colback, Anita, Sissoko, Wijnaldum and Tiote who can all play in the two roles in front of the defence before him.

That’s because I was, genius! The coaches obviously know who is good enough for the team because that’s where there expertise lies. They see them in training. The likes of Gouffran must impress in training, otherwise they will be no where near the first team.

  • 74 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:15 AM

Well, that’s football, all about opinions. Given that he is a technical player however, his game is better suited to to pass and move than hoofball. I just think he should get the same opportunity as players lass talented have been given. If you think he’s worse than Obertan, Rivierre and Goofy, then that morphine ain’t really helping much! 🙂

He also seems a professional but injuries have seen his development stunted. The problem is I think there are just too many people in front of him in his position.

  • 94 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:35 AM

  • 95 bettyswallocks // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:36 AM

I just keep thinking back to when he first arrived. He was being heralded as the next big thing with apparently interest from some big clubs.

He must have shown something for us to have kept him this long. We’d be sick if he made it somewhere else. He might be a late developer. He was a big lad when he was younger, maybe not physically up to it then hence the injuries.

  • 96 lee-toon // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:37 AM

Get a grip, if you can’t hold a debate without childish remarks then you aren’t worth the oxygen.

The last few week have made me look twice at life, make the most of it and take in peoples opinions, I may not agree with some opinions but I respect people for having them. Some people obviously go looking for arguments!

  • 107 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:51 AM

Betty, SAF was a huge fan of his and tried to sign him, and he can spot talent. His injuries have held him back, but being one of those slightly obsessive fans who watches first team, seconds and academy, I’ve seen enough of him to think letting him go before allowing Cathco to give him the once over might be an error of judgement. Cathco is renowned for bringing the best out of young players after all. All I’m suggesting really is that he should get the same chance as the rest and if then he’s rejected, fair enough.

  • 108 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:53 AM

TFL any advantage should not be ignored. 😉

  • 109 ToonFromLeeds // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:55 AM

    True Bobby 🙂

  • 110 Jack // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:58 AM

    Offkey

Your about as funny as the holocaust, nice try though…

    TFL

Please stop speaking to me it’s getting kind of embarrassing now.

  • 111 bettyswallocks // Jul 29, 2015 at 12:58 AM

Bobby…….. I like the way he cuts inside with an eye for goal. He was predominantly left sided but he looked as good with his right foot there.

Nobody could say he was slow on that footage. Defo deserves a chance.
Who knows how the injuries have restricted him mentally..

  • 112 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:00 AM

YMFB. In his current condition, don’t you think stressing TFL could be a tad out of order? I’m sure you don’t mean any harm and are just trying to have a bit of a laugh, but knowing when to stop is what makes a joke. Just a thought eh? No offence intended.

  • 113 ToonFromLeeds // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:04 AM

    Betty
Do you think Blackie could help Vuckic with that?

  • 114 ToonFromLeeds // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:05 AM

  • 115 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:06 AM

Betty, you ain’t wrong marra. Just let’s see what he can do under better coaches is all I’m suggesting. It’s fair enough saying that game was against young players, but he’s not much older himself. And that team of youngsters battered our seconds 7-3, so they weren’t no mugs! Classy goal like, Ben Arfaesque. 😉

  • 116 ToonFromLeeds // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:08 AM

It makes me laugh that even though Mexico won the Gold Cup they sacked their manager for punching a journo but Pardew headbutted a player and kept his job!!!!

  • 117 bettyswallocks // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:09 AM

TFL …….yes that’s his forte so hopefully. He looks like he has a point to prove and according to Harley he’s a dedicated kid so let’s see.

  • 118 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:14 AM

TFL, I’m sure he didn’t mean any harm, he probably just didn’t think. I did it myself last week when I mentioned a plane crash on the anniversary of that terrible occassion that robbed us of two loyal fans. When i said it, that crash hadn’t even crossed my mind until somebody reminded me. We’re all prone to the odd gaffe!

  • 119 Our Toon // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:16 AM

    Blackley

Yes Jib has admitted he’s Jeff!! The mere fact he knows what the Brazil United thing is about shows he’s Jeff as jib wasn’t around on the blog at that point.

  • 120 Our Toon // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:20 AM

Chaps on the Haris Vuckic debate my opinion is that he’ll never make it at a top flight club, shame because he had so much promise. Don’t forget he may of looked like a really good player at Rangers in a dreadful league but he failed big time at Cardiff in the championship and at Rotherham in League 1. They signed Tavierner though as he was a success!!

Vuckic has 1 year left, I don’t feel he deserves a new contract so keeping him is a waste of a squad space, wages and a waste of a potentially small transfer fee!!

  • 121 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:23 AM

Our toon. Your opinion is as valid as anybody’s – just a pity you’re always wrong lmao! 🙂

  • 122 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:30 AM

Our toon, i hope you realise that was my sense of humour and not intended to cause any offence. 🙂

  • 123 Our Toon // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:36 AM

    Bobby bee

Hahaha, it’s an opinion buddy that’s all. Some will think it’s right some will think it’s wrong. What I do know is numerous managers have overlooked him and his national manager hardly gave him a glowing reference for the way he played at Rangers.

Btw Fergie did get it right more often than not but he’s made some right old clangers along the way, he may have rated Vuckic as a youngster but he also rated Obertan and bought him, he kept preferred cleverly over pogba. Can’t always be wrong though because you agreed with me the other day matey 😉 ahahaha!!

  • 124 Our Toon // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:38 AM

    Bobby

I know it was buddy don’t worry I didn’t take offence to it….just good old banter!! Just over a week left before the opening game, do you think mbemba and Mitrovic will be fit enough to make it?

  • 125 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:40 AM

Tavernier had a very successful loan spell at Rotherham, but they didn’t sign him – although they wanted to. For some reason he decided to sign for Cambridge when we released him. Then he went to Wigan and now has signed for Rangers. He’s another who showed potential at right back

  • 126 Mister Tuff // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:41 AM

Hahahah -blog dream team – classic.

Ian Toon is such a snivelling scumbag and trickster that even that other snivelling scumbag (JIB/Jeff) and vilest person on the blog has gone AWOL and won’t support the master multiple.
Ususally “ya scumbags and shyte” support each other but jibs abandoned the master multiple faster than a rash spreading on a wild dogs bollocks.
No honour amongst toe rags and scumbags.
I know one or two lads who post on here and they are terrified that Ian Toon is going to befriend them -they’ll then lose all credibility as serious posters.

  • 127 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:47 AM

Our toon. Pushing it a bit for the first game i think. If Mitro gets a half a game at york and possibly 75 minutes against the munch bunch, he might be in for some sort of involvement. I think those morons at the FA have robbed Mbemba of any chance he had, but again, if he can get some pitch time v the munch bunch, he also might have a chance of a cameo, but i think it’s unlikely now. Would the FA have taken this long if it had been one ofvthe top four clubs? Again, highly unlikely!

  • 128 Bobbybee // Jul 29, 2015 at 1:56 AM

I reckon i’m done in and ready for my bed. No doubt catch up tomorrow some time. G’night all those in blogland.

  • 129 Our Toon // Jul 29, 2015 at 2:05 AM

I’d hope we use our initiative and arrange a behind closed doors friendly early next week to give these lads some more game time even if it’s 45mins, they will be needed for that 1st game and Southampton will have already had good minutes under there belt especially after playing Vitesse on Thursday

Anyway goodnight buddy catch up soon

  • 130 ToonFromLeeds // Jul 29, 2015 at 4:06 AM

Couldn’t sleep so I have just watched a rather entertaining programme on Sky Sports “Premier League Legends in Slovakia”
A team of PL Legends V Czech/Slovak legends, and to make Ketsbaia happy Paul Scharner was playing for PL Legends

    Morning!

    What’s the news?

Saw the new strip – it looks like there are two different versions of it. One that looks great and one that looks horrible! Is that the case or is my eyes just deceiving me?

  • 132 Ron Knee // Jul 29, 2015 at 6:33 AM

    Morning, Jesper.
How many defenders will Charmless try to buy today, do you think? Less than one, probably!

  • 133 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 29, 2015 at 6:54 AM

Ron…it seems Charmless has a big pile of work on his desk – he’s working hard you know 😉 and he hadn’t even come to defenders yet!

…rumors has it McC moved the Mbembe papers up the pile just so we would get at least one defender this side of Christmas!

  • 134 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 29, 2015 at 6:58 AM

Ron…but we will probably be linked to plenty today 😉

  • 135 Ron Knee // Jul 29, 2015 at 7:02 AM

Christmas: when we’re in the bottom five, you mean?

  • 136 Ian Toon // Jul 29, 2015 at 7:03 AM

Trunking- I will take your comments on board. Though football is a lot more difficult to be analytical about and there are only so many free hours in my day. Football is not like cricket or rugby which are almost entirely based around rigid borders. The unpredictable open nature of the so called beautiful game makes it impractical to be too analytical about it. Hence the most successful area is free kicks, corners etc where they’re more controllable.
I’ll do my best though and thanks for reading.

  • 137 mickalfas // Jul 29, 2015 at 7:08 AM

It will be the dream CB partnership of Willo and Saylor against Southampton
    Can’t wait !!!!

A game not for the faint-hearted.

  • 139 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jul 29, 2015 at 7:22 AM

Ron…if what we got now is the team and we don’t get hit by injuries in crucial positions then I’ll say we’ll finish 10-11 this season!

  • 140 check the toastie // Jul 29, 2015 at 7:23 AM

Going to just love our new brand of football, with Williamson still starting, nonsense the optimism whilst he is still number one centre back….

Hope Stevey Mac starts his top team against Munch Bunch.

    Something like this.

    ————————–Krul—————————
    Janmaat—-Mbemba—-Saylor—-Haidara———
    —————-Wijnuldum—Colback————–
    ——-Sissoko———DeJong——-Aarons——-
    ————————-Mitrovic———————

Dont know why but expecting to see Cisse and Goofran start the Soton Game, plus Willo, just have this horrible feeling….

  • 141 Ron Knee // Jul 29, 2015 at 7:24 AM

    jesper
    That sounds suspiciously like optimism!

    http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/deal-or-no-deal-newcastle-yet-to-table-new-offer-to-rolando-aarons-1-7381871

This link is good news, Basically Aarons tied down for the next two years. Breath much more easily. 🙂

Also Wini says he wants to play in ‘ten’ role..

Maybe our new fourmation will be something like this. 4141. Two number 10s, looks good to me.

    ———————-Krul——————————-
    Janmaat—–Mbemba—Saylor—-Haidara—
    —————–Colback/Tiote/Anita??———-
    —Sissoko——Wini—-De Jong—–Aarons—–
    ———————-Mitrovic———————

Massive job for the DM, has to be very disciplined, not sure it suits Colback mind.
