Rolando Aarons Picks Up An Injury

3:54 pm, Thursday, July 30th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 16 Comments

Before you read this see the note at the bottom says that Rolando has tweeted the reason he limped off last night was due to cramps,  and it’s nothing more serious than that – but in this report you can tell how nervous we are about Rolando getting injured again – he looks such a great young player.

Hopefully, he can play on Saturday against Borussia Monchengladbach – so with that – read on about our concerns about injuries in general at Newcastle.

One of the things that we must improve on this season is our injury record – but it’s already not looking good on Physioroom because we already have six injuries, and that’s joint top of the league with Everton, so we are again flying high – although that’s not the right way to say it.

Fabricio Coloccini has not played in this pre-season, but maybe a bigger concern is that Rolando Aarons limped off after 58 minutes last night at York City,  to be replaced by Olivier Kemen.

Both Colo and Rolando will be assessed by the Newcastle medical team in the next couple of days, and McClaren will be hopeful that the 19 year-old is OK for the game on Saturday, and he also seems desperate to get Coloccini in the side..

Rolando has been in great form once again in pre-season, and he’s a terrific young player, but one thing Newcastle must do this season is keep the lad fit.

He’s not even in the six injured Newcastle players listed on Physioroom who are Curtis Good, Emmanuel Riviere, Remy Cabella, Fab Coloccini, Sylvain Marveaux and Rob Elliot – although Rob played last night in the second half, so his thigh muscle strain must have cleared up.

If there is any doubts at all about Rolando Aarons for Saturday he should not play – and Steve McClaren will know all about his injury record of last season, when he was only able to play six games for the side, due to persistent hamstring problems .

Steve McClaren, as we reported earlier today, thinks that Coloccini is till a very important player for Newcastle and wants him to play on Saturday.

If he can get 45 minutes in against Borussia Monchengladbach, then Colo will be able to start against Southampton on August 9th, and Steven Taylor will probably be the one to play alongside him.

It’s probably too early for Chancel Mbemba, who we hope will sign for Newcastle as early as today.

Update – It looks like Rolando picked up only cramps in yesterday’s game  – which is why he had to go off – so that’s good news – that news via his Twitter account.

Comments welcome.

Yeah, I agree. He wasn’t for us and now he’s gone. Let’s just hope that the new look coaching team is the right fit for us

Although I can’t find a source for Aarons’ injury? I hope he’s not injured because I think his form will be vital to us this season

Top of the injury table before a ball is kicked in anger.

Jinxed or bad training methods ??? – don’t know which but it seems to go on and on.

As for Shearer’s comments on we’ll struggle if we sell players – stating the bleedin’ obvious

Not sure if this has been posted already but there are pics of Mbemba at the training ground here:

So I think it’s gone well!

Some independent injury analyst (who knew that was a job!) said that Aarons was to be assessed by the medical team as a precaution following coming off last night.

They/he might have said cramp at the time, but he may not have known the full extent at the time. We shall see. Fingers crossed it is just cramp.

Aarons said on twitter it was only cramp. Don’t know where these injury rumours are coming from.

It’s obvious that Mourinho has cursed us due to the apparent curse on him that prevents him from winning at St James’ Park. it only makes sense, as Chelsea had the least injuries…

    Ed is having a mare…..

Aarons already confirmed on his on twitter that it was cramp.

See this is the thing with this site. Half the articles are just guesswork by Ed.

I mean, yes its a blog. BUT you get half the fans on here believe the total guess Ed writes and then they start thinking its gospel and its going to happen.

I mean he owes the people who come on this site alot more than that. He should be issuing us true decent news. Not a fancy article to get clicks!

I always remember a report that came out during the time when thenlate, great, Sir Bobby was here, that there were serious concerns over the make up of the training ground pitches, something to do with them either being to hard or soft and it was this that was at the root cause of the injury problems we’ve always seemed to suffer
