Borussia Monchengladbach Winning Goal – Video

Here’s the poor goal we conceded this afternoon to lose this game 1-0 but Newcastle hardly deserved to be on the losing side with a good performance.

Only thing I am thankful for is that there is still time to bring in some more defenders before Southampton although I don’t see it unfortunately .

Haidara still has potential but I would still like to see a new LB and another CB IS A MUST . We should go for Jetro Willems and Abdennour :

    —————————–Krul——————————–

    –Janmaat——M’bemba——Abdennour——Willems–

    —————————Colback——————————
    ——Sissoko————————————-Aarons——

    —————-Gini———————De Jong————–

    —————————-Mitrovic—————————–

Can’t believe we are going into the 15/16 season with the same CB’s we had in 2009 FFS .

I think there are three main questions going into the game at Southampton:

    1. Do we start Mbemba, or are we forced into taylor/wilo pairing?
    2. Cisse or Mitro?
3 Where does Sissoko play..or does he start on the bench?

i feel mbemba will likely be on the bench along with Mitro and Sissoko will be a some sort of hybrid winger

Janmaat Mbemba Taylor and Haidara needs to be the starting back four, then another CB needs to come in to replace Taylor pronto

I myself didnt see the whole game as my internet connection out here is pish!

That being siad from what I did see we seemed to play pretty decent stuff, I thought Ginger was a bit of the pace at time, Gabby looked reasonable, but I do echo what most are saying. We defo need a quality CB and we need better delivery into the box.

Now if all us half wits can see that, surely to god SM and co can see that?????

We kept the ball better and pressed more than we used to under Pardew, but other than that it was an average performance with little being created and nothing to write home about but we have the same worries coming from the centre halfs as we’ve always had

So how was the game? Can anyone give me a objective analysis on the game, formation, subs and what we need to bring in?

I am still a bit worried about this ongoing 4-2-3-1!

Its time they pulled this signing out of the bag thats going to excite the fans, were ever the fek that rumor came from. If it is true it has to be a top class CB

For Me we have much better ball players like De Jong and Wijnaldum who should be in the middle of the park so Sissoko should be played on the right wing IMO .

He can still drift inside and his pace and power will upset most full backs in the PL . Him and Janmaat could form a great partnership and I’m pretty sure he was one of the top PL chance creators when played there for us a while ago .

I think everyone needs to relax, we were unlucky and out played a team that came 3rd last season in the bundesliga, we should have won. And for people saying we play the same football are idiots, it’s completely different. Just some players will take time to accustom to the new ethos. Could take time, won’t happen over night. Plus Willo is a moron. And look uncomfortable with the ball at all times.

Gotta laugh that Willo is still being blasted when it was Saylor who looked the more uncomfortable of the two, but I guess that was only because he was playing alongside a donkey huh!!!!!!

Austin would be a waste of money, we already have strikers and only seem to play 1 at a time any way. Whats the point of bringing in a striker that is of similar mold to our 2 main strikers?

Fcuk me spend the money on a player that can get the ball to the striker or failing that bring in a forward who can actually run with the ball create his own chances Austin isn’t worth it.

See, fans expecting the team to play fluid amazing football already, it takes a long time for a manager to get his philosophy across to all players and for them to be comfortable with it. It’s not going to happen in pre-season, they need time. Give them a break, the performance wasnt even that bad.

I think some people need to take a chill pill, the only thing we have got to do is sort our defence out, happy with midfield and up front, today is the only day we didn’t score, we created chances against a very good side, i be more worried if we didn’t create any chances today or in the other matches, the fact that we have i feel optimistic this season, it’s going to take time anyway, mcclaren hasn’t been here long or his staff or the new players, more positives than negatives.

    @ Menelauos

I agree and the differences are clear from the Pardew Era . Don’t think I saw Krul kick it long once .

My problem is bringing in all these talented players like Wijnaldum and Mitrovic is in vain if our defence let in goals for fun .

That is my main worry and it could easily be fixed with a signing or two . Only problem is it is very late in the window and any targets won’t have played with our squad and won’t be match fit for a few weeks at the least .

Not a lot of people who post on here know too much about footy to be fair.
Ed’s summary of the game was just about spot on.
We looked for the most part better than a very average typical workmanlike Bundesliga side and that from a team that had a completely new coaching staff in that just started working with the team 5 weeks ago interspersed with an exhausting trip to the States.
Some goon said we still have defenders from 2009 — Terry – Skrtel – Kompany – Baines – Zabaleta – HELLO
Steven Taylor is coming back from a double hamstring snap and all they can do is call him “sick note ” !!!!!
We are defo behind with our preparation cos of that daft tour but not as far off as I feared.
Anyone who can get Obertan looking half decent needs honouring – step forward Sir Steven McClaren
Rolando Aarons is going to win us cups and then be sold to Real Madrid for megabucks.
    Thats all

Williamson could have played like Nesta today, but it doesn’t change the fact that he is a horrible footballer by Premier League standards .

At one point today a player knocked the ball round him and I have never seen a professional athlete 1) turn so slow and 2) run so slow .

    Its embarrassing .

I never saw the game, how did we actually play? Alot of mixed reports on the blog.
I can’t really comment on this match but the majority who played almost got us relegated so I can’t expect any miracles. If a player isn’t good enough he’s not good enough, simple!

We still lack any real creativity, hopefully there’s a fair bit more wheeling and dealing before the window shuts.

    I’ll reserve judgement till then.
