Former Newcastle Player Gives Austin Good Advice

Lee Bowyer joined Newcastle as a free agent in July, 2003 when Sir Bobby Robson was manager and Lee had an extremely successful spell at the then dominant Leeds United, whom he joined when he was 19 years old.

Lee left Newcastle  three years later and joined West Ham after playing 98 times for the Magpies with 11 goals.

Lee Bowyer – when at Newcastle

Lee has been on talkSPORT talking about Newcastle target Charlie Austin, and Lee made no secret of the fact he thought that Newcastle would be a better destination for the striker than West Ham – and Lee played for both clubs.

This is what Lee Bowyer said:

“I think he would be better suited up in Newcastle,” “West Ham have got a couple of forwards already. They have got big Andy Carroll, they have got Diafra Sakho who scored a few goals last season.

“Newcastle I can’t think of any of their strikers but Papiss Cisse and he wants to leave. Austin would be loved up at Newcastle. They are great fans and he should hit the ground running if he decides to go there.”

Papiss Cisse has said many times that he wants to stay at Newcastle, but it’s thought that if Charlie is signed we will have brought in Aleksandar Mitrovic and Charlie Austin this summer, and Papiss will very likely be sold.

The 26 year-old English striker scored 18 league goals in just 35 Premier League appearances  last season for QPR in his only season in England’s top flight.

Charlie is expected to join Newcastle, assuming the Magpies and QPR can agree a fee for the player.

That may go down to the last day of the transfer window.

Austin isn’t coming, seems to me that no one rates him highly at all.

As for Danny Rose, he’s well out of our reach, Chelsea apparently want him and even if they didn’t he’s playing for Spurs who like it or not are a better team than us, they’ve also got these new plans for a stadium which will also host NFL games as it has a retractable pitch. Spurs are the way up….We are plodding along

Agreed Belfast sick of reading about Austin, we’ve not even made a bid for him yet he’s the most talked about player when it comes to NUFC

There’s always one every window on here that just becomes boring.

    It’s Austin this time.

Mbemba was boring! This one looks like it will go to the wire, something to cling to during these quiet times. Im quite enjoying it to be honest, I rate the lad. Obviously not everyones cup of tea but it’s news all the same.

    Stick to the fishing!

Bet Austin is sick and tired of everybody sticking their oar in to his life choice and wanting to know the far end of his farts.

McClaren has already denied making a bid. Qpr have denied we’ve made a bid.

Seems to be very little truth in anything that’s written about it to be honest.

I think it’s the only news around at the moment Belfast, alot of speculation surrounding him.

Anyway, do we think we will get a win on Sunday and is the game being beamed out in England folks?

I know it’s on TSN in Canada.

    Mitrovic on Austin:

And he even stated he would be happy to see the arrival of Queens Park Rangers star Charlie Austin.

Mitrovic said: “Of course I will welcome the challenge if another striker comes in.

“We need quality strikers and quality players.

“Austin scored 18 goals for his team last year and if he came he would be very welcome.”

I don’t think much can be read into Bowyer’s comments when he’s so out of touch. WHU have openly stated they need another striker with Sakho injured and Carol never far from an injury.
    We’ve also just got mitrovic.
