Video – Lionel Messi Headbutts Yanga-Mbiwa – Was He Sent Off?

3:35 pm, Thursday, August 6th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 44 Comments

This is not good by the world’s best player Lionel Messi as he goes up to – of all people – former center-back Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa – and head butts him and then grabs hold of the Frenchman’s neck.

Remember what happened when Alan Pardew slightly head-butted David Meyler at Hull – he has the book thrown at him – so what happens with Messi?

Both players received yellow cards.

Come on!

Comments welcome.

    Hibbit
    absolutely 100% correct.

I’m a goo lip reader and I’m sure messi said some thing along the lines of “why did you leave Newcastle for you tit” as his hand cuddled his neck.

another point I dont think it was a head butt either a think his head slipped.

  • 4 Jack // Aug 6, 2015 at 3:50 PM

No I think he tried to do what Pardew said…

‘I tried to push him away with my head’

Guess his arms must have not been working.

Did Messi miss the word “Friendly” ?

Still not sure we were ever in for him. It was the press who started the story, not the club. They didn’t deny it to throw them off the Mitro story. The press claimed we made at least one bid, when we now know we haven’t bid. He would hold back Perez, who I reckon needs to progress now, not stagnate.

    Broons

Add Martoon name and then your prediction mate

  • 14 ian7523 // Aug 6, 2015 at 4:26 PM

I think Pardew should be headbutted for pushing Yanga-Mbiwa out without a fair crack

  • 15 dok - the horrid colonial // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:10 PM

heard that Bournemouth fc is really a mackem in disguise..

  • 16 toon kk // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:10 PM

I think most fans are quite relistic and can tell we’re not going to be a top six / eight side, but a lot seem to think because Pards and carver have gone they’re going to see a big difference with our players? Disappointment rings a bell.

  • 17 Take a Chancel on me // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:12 PM

    Toon KK

There should be much improvement in the team now we have a decent coaching team

  • 18 ilovetoon8788 // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:26 PM

Disaster to hear colo has signed a new contract. He has been awful and a huge liability in defence. We win more games without him in the team.

It means we won’t be signing anyone else in this window. No more Cb. Pathetic news really.

  • 19 beermonkey // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:28 PM

    take a chancel

I agree performances should improve but it is going to take time before it all clicks

shame we have such a hard start to the season

  • 20 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:43 PM

It’s Willo and Saylor that are the problem!

  • 21 ilovetoon8788 // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:49 PM

We are probably going to get a hammering at Southampton but how we will do in the season will be seen in the effort on the match and not the scoreline.

    Will be inrinteresting.

  • 22 the broons // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:50 PM

    our toon

    ok cheers mate.

  • 23 toon kk // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:51 PM

I wonder if the board are actively looking for defenders or they actually think getting Collo signed up on an extension is classed as a new signing?

  • 24 Bambams // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:54 PM

I would of rather we brought another CB in rather than Colo, however I will shout his name and support him no problem.

Mac has stated he wants us to play 10 yards further up the pitch, that may have been a bit too brave but it could work now that we have Mbemba with pace to burn.

I agree with so many, we now have an excellent coaching set up rather than a bunch of ‘jobs for the boys’.

Just think it’s so refreshing that mac has brought Cathro in having never worked with him before.

We won’t be bottom 6 this year, but we won’t be top 6 either.

Joe Root 100 not out ! Ausies taking a bashing

  • 25 Jail for Ashley // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:55 PM

Has Collocini suffered more 4+ hidings than any other PL CB ever ?
He’s been given an extension because he’ll go for free anyway and it will save paying 8M+ for a replacement. Not sure if it’s a good move but an absolute shite house of a Captain.

  • 26 Jib // Aug 6, 2015 at 5:56 PM

I’m surprised to see Messi teaching Yanga how to use the head, it’s a waste of time, I could have told him that.

  • 36 Tsunki // Aug 6, 2015 at 6:17 PM

James Toon you have to put Martoon in there for him to find it. Actually he hasn’t used a capital M for some time come to think of it.

  • 37 Tsunki // Aug 6, 2015 at 6:18 PM

  • 39 Tsunki // Aug 6, 2015 at 6:23 PM

I can see a situation like ‘Falling Down’ developing at SJP with toonbotherer snapping and running amok trying to find the tousle-locked teamster.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman could miss his team’s first Premier League match of the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
