Do you think Brighton could be convinced to let Dunk leave for £4 million plus Williamson?

Lewis Dunk was linked to McClaren when he was at Derby.

Here is an article that describes him:

I think they will let Dunk go if we offer £4M and promise to keep Willo!

Lewis Dunk was the highest-rated player last season under the age of 24 according to The Guardian (7.45), the Brighton centre-back has become an integral player to the Seagulls. He made just seven league appearances for the club in season 2013-14 and was on a one-month loan to Bristol City during the campaign, but has been a mainstay last season, starting 37 matches.

The 23-year-old’s lofty frame means that he is commanding in the air, winning 139 of 212 aerial duels as well as mustering 29 headed attempts at goal. That aerial threat has heralded five goals from set pieces, with only two players managing more. Only Ipswich’s Cole Skuse has made more interceptions this season than Dunk’s 129. That only the current top six and Sheffield Wednesday have a better defensive record than Brighton (54 goals conceded) has been in no small part due to the youngster’s presence at the back.

From The Guardian – I haven’t seen enough of him to comment.

So after Collocinis public want away, his deliberate sending off and total avoidance of the cups and derbies added to the fact we’ve heard him speak once in seven years after he was forced to do an interview and it makes anyone who is not endeared with our curly haired captain a despicable fan, unbelievable!

I would think Willo would be good in the championship, thats why it maybe a good offer to get Dunk

Lee Charnley: “Chris, we’ll give you £4m up front, and you can have Mike Williamson for nowt.”
    Hughton: “No deal, Lee.”
Lee: “I figured it was too much to ask… you can still have Williamson for nowt, mind.”
    Hughton: “Fcuk off, Lee.”

Dunk have reasonably good stats and highly rated so could be decent budget HG buy.

I think we should aim higher but better than we have got.

Biggest problem with Colo is that he doesn’t do interviews. Definitely has respect in the squad and is our best CB, but c’maan, talk for the team son!

    robmefirst,
As I said earlier I’m not sure if it’s a good move or not, I’ve said all summer that although I’d like to see the back of him it wouldn’t be the worst move if he stayed as I think there are more areas of priority to strengthen.

Did anybody here the mourinho anecdote regarding davide santon on talksport this morning?? Talking about how he goes about sussing out new signings and how they will ask for a run of 5 games in th side too show how they go off n he laffs n says when he decides to play a youngen or sign a new player he only needs ten mins n he can tell if they will stay and be apart of his plans or leave and when he was asked for an example on who passed this test etc he said santon in ten minutes proved he had all the mental and physical attributes aswell as being a good player to be a starter,, also was praising his attitude compared to Kevin de bruyne,, then went on to say on his champions league debut he never gave Ronaldo a sniff n tht we never saw th best of him because injurys hampered his progress.. I always liked santon and wish he was still at the club,, would shore up our defensive options no end so versatile.. Regarding colo I’m happy he has had an extension,, hopefully gets back to the form of 2 yr ago with his head straight..

Austin or a CB? Austin. I want to see a top strike partnership. It’s been too long. Even Mitrovic wants him. That tells you something.

Mbemba , Dummett, Lascelles and Colo. Even Janmaat can play there. Surely, if Carr’s as good as some on here reckon, Lascelles a very good player. If not, what’s he identified him for? I’d like to see us get a top left back. Even better if he could play CB like Janmaat.

What was the point of West Ham entering that competition to play their reserve team ? Waste of time that was.

Spag – whatever Mourinho says in the end Santon fell afoul of Pardew’s lame tactics and the Jurassic methods of our coaching team. The injuries were the final nail in the coffin lid when the fat fingers of the bean counters ran down the defenders column and saw Dummett’s wages next to his. That and Santon was not a great defender. Yes, forgot that little detail.

Just re-watched our game vs West Ham last season, lets just say a few tears were shed. I don’t even know why, seeing the fans shouting with passion and the players playing like that just touched me. But watching Sissoko and Gutierrez’s celebrations are what hit me the most, never seen such relief and happiness to wear the famous black and white stripes. Definitely my favourite Newcastle match of all time, not in terms of quality, but being able too see what this club can be like when everyone is celebrating together. Honestly Anita take a bow, outstanding match! I totally see what McClaren sees in him…

Ryan Taylor, Jonas and Santon could all fill in at right and left. We’ve got very few options there now, unlike at CB. Good defensively minded full backs can help centre backs no end. Our centre backs have never had that in recent years.

Devastated SM thinks Colo is deserving of a 1 yr extension and retention of captaincy.

IMO his antics of going home pretending he’s injured and leaving us in the sh!te means he should have been shipped out as ignominiously as Jonas…Jonas was and is a far better example of an exemplary professional than Colo ever was and IMO doesn’t deserve anything but a P45.

…and if anyone thinks he’ll play better alongside Mbemba they are sadly mistaken..Colo has no legs left, no bottle, and no idea whats going on around him..he finds himself alone and in no mans land more often than any other defender we’ve had at newcastle in the last 10 years

Blackley the problem with spending all our lunch money on strikers is that we will still have the defence of the damned leaking in goals game after game, negating our wonder boys efforts up front. Cue the Pardewite resort of everybody, including said strikers, drifting back to try and plug holes. I’m sure our new obliteration unit Mbemba and the curly-headed ones newly-purchased revived loyalty will strengthen the back line no end (cough) but I’d guess just ONE injury and we are back to square -15.

Colo may be 3rd, 4th 5th choice at CB but he’s still better quality cover at CB than any cover we have at full back.
