That’s the photo Sky Sports News HQ are using to say Florian Thauvin has completed his medical.

    Will he be announced today?

  • 2 firebug666 // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:06 PM

Oh wait, we just leave them to announce themselves now don’t we?

  • 3 JamesToon // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:11 PM

our squad is good but Mcca has to play them in their right positions . Sissoko shld play as a No .10 . Wijanaldum as a box
to box CM . He looked like he wld win some balls .
Cisse is good as a Back up . Mitrovic can do alot with the ball compared to Cisse.
If Abdennour comes . This is my starting 11 .

Ugh, I suppose we celebrate profligacy for the sake of it now.

  • 7 Bobbybee // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:20 PM

SanD from previous. As far as goalscoring midfielders go, we signed one of the best in Wijnaldum. De Jong will also weigh in with a share when fit.

I think Thauvin will supply the bullets for Mitrovic. I believe he’s also a bit of a dead ball specialist, which is something we’ve lacked since Cabaye left. We’ve chased him long enough, now let’s see why he’s been a target for so long. Sissoko injured opens a door for him.

  • 8 JackButler // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:23 PM

Can he play as a centre half???

  • 9 Madmaglass // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:24 PM

Cut the new guy some slack before he even plays! We need defenders, that’s for sure but let’s see how Thauvin fits in first. Window’s still open and defenders don’t cost as much as attacking players. There’s still time.

who said we would sign Abdennour? Where does it say that here?We dont care about your imaginary team you bell-end

  • 11 Transfer Sage // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:28 PM

as I’ve said a lot recently I don’t know how good this guy is but we need a winger so hopefully he can fit the bill on that front.

As for Sissoko being linked with a move, well I hope he gets it. He is the most overrated player in our squad.

The bloke makes cisse look like he has a good first touch, he always talks about his dream to play for “insert most recently linked club here” and he only turns up once or twice a season.

I’d much rather we got shot of Sissoko and replaced him with this lad. We still have a midfield group of colback, anita, tiote, de jong, wijnaldum and perez who can operate as a number 10 as he did in spain.

However we are still in desperate need for a CB and a quality left back.

  • 12 Bobbybee // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:28 PM

If we sign another defender, this will be the best window for a long time. Already nearly £50m spent so far and not definitely finished. One good CB and we’ll have a very decent side with a strong bench. So close, I hope we don’t spoil it now. We could wait until January if we have somebody in mind who will become available then, but just that one piece missing is frustrating for even eternal optimists like myself. One more Macca, please push the boat out one more time…

Wow ‘Hungrier than Cisse’ nice language there.

  • 22 JackButler // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:33 PM

Can I ask why everyone has Mitrovic in their starting 11 as we’d be down to ten men within twenty minutes!!!

He may be a great player in time but right now he’s to much of risk to have him in a starting place, he needs to calm down and not continue to try and prove that he’s a tough guy who puts himself about as its gonna lead to more red cards than goals

  • 23 Polarboy // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:34 PM

@hungrier than Cisse. Given the guy a break, there have been consistent links to Abdennour, with one report stating that we had put in a starting bid last month. Another report from a French publication stated that we would turn out attentions to him once we tied up the Thauvin deal. Will it happen? I don’t know but it’s reasonable to speculate.

  • 24 Llort muw // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:35 PM

    Hungrier than Cisse

If I’m honest mate your the one spouting abuse on a blog, maybe you should get a life? At least his post has relevance to NUFC, don’t be so pathetic.

  • 25 Bobbybee // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:36 PM

Our toon. Starting to look exciting mate. Our bench will be the strongest for years and that’s always a good barometer. Still that missing defender is bugging me and I find it bizarre it hasn’t been sorted yet. Still time yet, so I remain hopeful. That one extra signing would make such a huge difference, I can see why people are frustrated because I’m one of them! Matip or Abdennour would make the window an even bigger success. I suspect the latter is out of our reach though.

  • 27 Transfer Sage // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:38 PM

I’d personally like to see the following side for the game against man utd.

Not sure who would play right back as we don’t have natural stand by, would like to keep mbemba at centre back so possibly stick anita there but not keen on that either.

  • 28 JackButler // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:38 PM

Seriously hope Thauvin settles and rips up the league, also seriously hope that hes not the last one in through the door, cover for Jaanmatt a commanding CB and the dead wood being shipped out is still desperately needed

  • 29 Our Toon // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:39 PM

If we want to progress Colback needs to be benched. Can’t tackle, serial sideways passer, not strong enough as Mane showed by shrugging him off 3 times, doesn’t track runners as Ayew showed on Saturday.

His only real attribute is pressing the opposition but he stood off Shelvey and fell for his drop of the shoulder, then allowed him to turn and pick out Gomis for the 1st goal.

Protection for the back 4 is needed not assisting the opposition with the inclusion of Colback

  • 30 scottoon // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:40 PM

Someone asked earlier if Thauvin might be Sissoko’s replacement, and the more I think about it, this might just be true. We know that Sissoko’s main strength is his ability to go by defenders at pace, but he doesn’t pass particularly well, is not a good tackler and cant change direction any more than a freight train can. So maybe Schteve believes that we get more from Gini and SDJ in the CAM role, and that Thauvin, Aarons, Obertan (shudder) can do the business on the wings. No more worries about Socks best place, as in this scenario he would have no place. A sale provides additional funds for the CB we desperately need…..Abdennour please!

  • 31 Transfer Sage // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:40 PM

    jack butler

I’d go with Mitrovik from the start, he may have learned from his two yellows already, after the quick first he never went on to get a second in either game so he could be ok.

Maybe it’s the frustration of starting on the bench making him to try to prove something….i couldn’t possibly say but I think most hot headed players calm down after the first yellow of the game.

  • 32 bobby mango // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:40 PM

Totally underwhelmed. Doubt he’ll be the player we need, sounds overpriced and a bad fit with a bad attitude. Another case of addressing the wrong area.

Great outlay this summer but totally misdirected, I would’ve preferred the same money to have been spent this season on four experienced players with premier league pedigree.

Our tough schedule means we’re going to be bottom three by ten games in. Don’t see Thauvin and mitrovic as the guys needed to fire a indisciplined side

  • 33 Our Toon // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:42 PM

Yes the team is starting to take shape but I’m bracing myself for a couple of key players departing. The lack of urgency to get another CB though is truly shocking…..but we can live in hope

  • 34 Llort muw // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:42 PM

    Team vs Man utd. (4-3-3)

Counter attacking team, we’re never going to win the possession game at Old Trafford, so set up to counter attack with pace.

  • 35 Transfer Sage // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:42 PM

I agree, for me sissoko has never nailed down a position and hasn’t really got the attributes for a wide man (lacks passing/crossing ability) and also hasn’t got the close control for a central player….although when he drives with the ball he looks fantastic and of course has some decent passes in him, just not enough.

If the money is reinvested then I’m happy.

I’m still struggling to see why nobody has taken a punt on virgil van dijk.

  • 36 Our Toon // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:43 PM

Mitrovic should be starting, he’s a combative player and taking that out of his game takes away what he’s about. So far with him it looks like it’s a case of trying to impress and being frustrated at being in the bench….unleash him!!

  • 37 Offkey // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:43 PM

Jb – if cisse doesn’t score he usually offers very little. At man u we will have to have a front man who can occupy players…….if he gets sent off he would be a fool, think he is just trying too hard……if he starts I expect him to be calmer……he has it all to prove…… I think he just might

  • 38 Madmaglass // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:44 PM

I agree, he seems over keen! Maybe starting him rather than having him come on as a sub. If he gets a yellow card, sub him and bring on Cisse.
Must say that Mitrovic looks like he could be a potentially great striker. Still can’t get over the fact that he chose our club and happens to be have been a fan beforehand. What are the odds on that! Now for him to get his first goal. Hope it arrives soon.

  • 39 JackButler // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:44 PM

He’s a loose cannon at the moment and seems to be out to prove what a tough guy he is, even in his interviews he talks about kicking people and I think he’d be far to much of a risk at the moment and let’s be honest people want to start ahead of Cisse who is the only proven striker we have right now.

Cisse gets slaughtered on here but he always comes up with the goals we need.

No doubt Mitrovic will come good but he needs to learn to control himself as his actions, just like Jaanmatt on the weekend, will cost the entire team

  • 40 Offkey // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:45 PM

Ourtoon – you talk a lot of sense 😉

  • 41 Jib // Aug 19, 2015 at 4:48 PM

I’ve told people on here until I’m blue on the face.
One of the ways of spotting a mackem wum is they invariably use a toon players name as a user name.(they’ll prolly stop now)
The red and whyte shyte are in meltdown , if they screw up this season they will be doing a Portsmouth.
So expect a lot more “hungrier than Cisse” crap in the next few weeks.
Can you imagine how furious the unwashed are ?
We have spent 50 million and climbing

They have sold Connor Whickham for 8million.

    Ha ha ha

    @Hungrier than Cisse.

Congratulations insulting someone cause he is optimistic about a rumour and the ways we could line up.
Although if we’re realistic its misplaced. Just like your wife we wanted someone big and commanding. But sadly just like her we ended up with someone small, quick and tires quick.
