Here’s Newcastle’s Passion In One Simple Photograph

Here is a photograph of Fabricio Coloccini and Tim Krul, and they were Newcastle’s two best players in our Man of the Match poll with 47% and 13% respectively.

It shows them at the end of the game today at Old Trafford, after Newcastle had put in a tremendous performance of guts, courage and fortitude to keep a clean sheet, and it’s not often the Red Devils fail to score at Old Trafford.

They had won their previous three games this season, but not today.

And you thought they didn’t care?

We did really well for only having 30% of the ball and struggling to get out of our own half.
But at least we kept a clean sheet.

Nantes and st.Etienne want obertan and gouffran apparently.
I’d be happy if we signed dunk and sent Williamson to Brighton, that would be deemed as a successful window.

Ben Arfa is still brilliant, he has his pace back on.

And no we should not move on, he is a player we loved, and probably will not have another player of that calibre for a while.

Wish we could get him back.

yes haters have no idea what a cracker of a footballer is.

All the good ones tend to have an attitude, Zlatan, Ben Arfa, Robert, Bellamy, Balloteli. etc

Pitty we didn’t have a manager at the time to coax the best out of him. Pardew was the wrong manager but so is McLaren.

Newcastle need to turn up like that against all opposition, and we’ll be more than fine. We have many very good players, but the gulf in class is still quite pronounced. That was one of the most one sided games I’ve ever seen. Even so, that was a team that ran tirelessly for each other on the day. Which is a great sign. Mbemba will lose his place for the moment, I think, despite being very good and Cisse may leave, because Mitrovic will now be first choice, and Iberian is in a similar position withe signing of Thauvin, who also looks ready to play.

Goal was alright…? It was a wonderful goal, and it is exactly the type of skill that a crowd should see at a professional game. Not a load of sloggers clocking up cross country miles over 90 minutes. Acceleration, skill, finishing, excellent.

    Should still be here.

I might be going to a Nice game to see him play. I’ve been discussing it with a mate this week.

On the game today, good last ditch defending, but having belief in possession is what is needed. Keep the ball better, and they don’t get to have as many waves of attack. SM needs time to get his ideas across.

Who the !?!? cares about Ben Arfa man.

Tell you something you need to know about him….. He is a waste of space!

How do I know this? When he was FREE to go anywhere nobody even sniffed at him. That’s how “world class” he is.

He is playing in a league were Cabella got 14 goals, Obertan was just as dangerous and Riviere could actually score a goal. He should be scoring goals week in week out if he is this god of a footballer.

One thing Pardew did do right was not bow to the imbecile. Or fan pressure for that matter.

@gorgonzola – I wouldn’t exactly agree with that theory….Henry, Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton, Beckenbauer, Ronaldo (brazilian), Iniesta, Xavi, Pirlo, Pele, Gerrard, Zola, Bergkamp…..etc. Bit of stupid blinkered statement to be honest!

@pawl – because some people think it was the wrong decision (or the truth should be stated). And that was a great goal. Many of us like seeing great goals. Because we like football.

Sure players have an attitude. But to say he was cr@p at us is a pure lie.
He actually was great at NUFC. Not all the time but If I recall when he played there was a moment where anything could happen and it usually did.

    @Gorgonzola
I’m not having a go! I just find that “maverick footballer” thing is just an excuse to get away with things and be lazy! They get that reputation and people stop criticising players for not running around and acting like a d**k because it’s “just how they are”.

Look at Balotelli. He’s becoming more known for his stupid vain hair than any goals he scores. He literally contributes nothing to football at the moment because he’s acted ridiculously at Liverpool. Yet it’s almost accepted, because “He’s that type of player”.

I’m not having a go at you at all, it’s just something that irritates me.

    Robert was a better player.

Only downside was him not helping out which in the modern game is a must.

And before people say he would be wasted in defense look at the likes of Silva, Tours, Iniesta the list goes on all hard working players who stand heads and shoulders above Ben Arfa

…I’ll just say this. This thing about “the modern game is ___” is ludicrous. There are so many variables and ways of playing this game that to just say “this is how it is now” to fit your particular argument isn’t fair or correct.

A few years ago, possession was EVERYTHING with Barcelona and Spain going between their incredibly conservative “knock it about the back 4 for 30 minutes” to their absolute brilliant best. Then Bayern beat Barcelona and it was modulated.

Any style can beat any style.

Plus, to take what is effectively a scale comparison as a literal one is disingenuous.

Beast is going to be devastating once we start supplying him, he already has the physique, the skill and the nous. Once he finds that fine balance between control and aggression he’ll start dominating defences.
Ayoze has to play without doubt, he put in more graft today than a whole team during the dark days of Carver. A truly wonderful all round display from a striker who tackles like a defender.
Gini is just oozing class, in a month or so he’ll wipe away any lingering memory of Cabaye, began to fade a bit in the second half, but unsurprising with all that pressure.

    I agree.

Our best team would be this most likely based on recent games….

    Krul
    Janmaat Mbemba Coloccini Haidara
    Anita Colback
    Sissoko Wijnaldum Perez
    Mitrovic

I would like to see De Jong get back to his best too and maybe Wijnaldum to drop in for Colback/Anita

    Great player, bad attitude.

If he did that every week fine but he didn’t.

He’s a big fish in a small pond in France. Could’ve been brilliant for us. Pardew can shoulder some blame but he also failed to deliver more than not.

Best of luck Benny. Let’s move on.

Ed you should do a ‘Who was the WORST player today’ poll too. I bet most would rightfully say Overtan who was absolutely useless today and offered nothing at all. He was dead awful and back to his crappy self again. We need to get rid of this inconsistent player ASAP.

Colback was another that had a game to forget as well. Terrible pass thoughout the match and truly out of character as his passing is usually spot on.

It was as if we were play with 9 men all game yet still managed a draw.

But that performance by Obertan was a real stinker and should be no where near the first team. Get rid please! McClaren you know what to do!

As pleasing as the performance was we were extremely lucky to come out of it with a draw tbh. We didn’t have a single shot on target and barely had the ball most of the game. Yet I am proud of the lads today as they showed fight and character that was all missing from last season. We’ve proved we can defend as a team when we want to and I just loved to see Mitrovic chase the ball back like a man possessed. Thauvin looked lively when he came on and I pray to God that means the end of Obertan who offers nothing at all, not attacking wise nor defending wise. He’s shite and today he just proved it again after fooling some including me for the first two games. Get Rid Asap!

I think we should be wise in gettig another CM as Anita although has been playing well is a bit lightweight and Colback is OK, but then who do we have to play there if they get injured? Tiote, Wijnaldum? Neither is a proper CM. Would love it if in January we went for Grenier again. But right now I would love it if we get Sam Byram, that kid will be something special soon.

Perez is a must start for me in midfield. Every time he got the ball he had the skill to turn and take us forward when every other player was passing backwards. I think McClaren would have noticed that too.

Perez was brilliant today, he has to start for me. Obertan should be dropped. It’s a shame about the lad because he can really shift like. Was impressed with Thauvin for his cameo, especially his step over and getting the lad booked with his first touch.

Mitrovic still dosn’t look 100% fit to me, I think there is still more to come from him. He tired greatly towards the end of the first and second half today but did get back to help out well still at times.

Haidara, still not convinced with the lad.

Still think Cisse and Sissoko will leave, if they do then I really hope they are replaced otherwise our bench will not be as strong and we will suffer once injuries occur. The bench looks fine at the moment, it would be a shame to sell players and not replace them, it really would.

I suspect Steve was doing the typical thing managers do and allowed Obertan to start today even though his starting position is obviously Thauvin’s now.

I don’t understand the strategy of bringing Cisse on as a super sub. He’s not going to race past tired defenders.

Newcastle desperately need a CM. Tiote looks no where near being match fit.
