Report That Cisse To Stay – German Striker Not Coming

It looks like Peter Graves of Sky Sports reporter Peter Graves started the rumor that Newcastle were likely to bring Pierre-Michel Lasogga in from Hamburger SV on Saturday, and now it looks like he’s making news by saying this will not happen.

That’s a good way to keep the news coming and going.

Papiss Cisse – will stay at Newcastle?

Here’s the tweet that Graves has put out today about 30 minutes ago, and it looks like the other tweet has been deleted from Saturday:

If we were to hazard a guess we don’t think Papiss will be going anywhere.

Yes, he’s a bit miffed that he was left out of the team at Manchester United, but he will probably start our next three games against West Ham, Watford and maybe Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup -and he will get plenty of playing time this season.

There’s three wins possible there – if we can play at our best and continue to keep it very tight at the back.

We would imagine that Steve McClaren can clear up any doubts Papiss may have about staying at Newcastle,  with a good face-to-face talk with the 30 year-old Senegal striker.

Just 28 hours left in the summer transfer window.

It’s been a good one for Newcastle if we don’t lose any good players in the next day.

Anyone seen anything of Lasogga apart from what’s on the Dennis Wise Scouting Network?

Perez can score goals like Wijn and Sissoko can score them. So if you were relying on Perez to be a target man and main goalscorer like Cisse, you’d be in big trouble. Perez is the type of player to unlock defences and provide assists. He needs to keep his place on the back of assists as well as chipping in with a few goals.

@JB: I watched him a few times last season and he’s alright. Kind of a combination of Cisse and Viduka. Likes to play off the shoulder, wants it played in to his feet, and has a canny shot on him. Don’t think he’s really suited as a lone striker either unless you have De Jong spraying passes to him, or you’re playing a high pressing game… in other words, not for us unless we can sort out our fscking delivery.

Spent £50m and as far as results go we’re no better off, I know we’ve played some hard teams just can’t help thinking if carver was still in charge he’d be getting slatted now. Our biggest problems was scoring goals last season think we’ve made it a bigger problem this season with mitrovic 4 games gone 2 yellows 1 red and a 3 match ban

B&B I’m not sure i 100% agree he can be used up top and would be great alongside a big st in a 2 up front formation. He is a clinical finisher with great feet and runs for days. Need to find a place for him in our side as he’s a top top player.

B&B, I’ve repeatedly said Perez is not a target man, but a striker doesn’t need to be a target man or Aguero would never get a game. My point was, and still is, if Cisse wants to go Perez can do what he does. As it happens it’s a moot point as Cisse now has gathered his toys back up and wishes to stay 🙂

We have not been great so far but you can see we have improved massively as a team and would have been trounced in the last few games with pardew or carver at the helm. Need to press higher up the pitch and get confidence which we should do against lesser teams.

Patience folks. We’ll climb the table for sure but Mitrovic needs to calm doon if he’s going to make his mark in the English game. Rather than making marks on the opponents. Keep the faith. At least our defence is playing reasonably well. Vast improvement in my eyes.
