    Well here is my transfer round up;
    – Wijnaldum – Great value for a fantastic player, think everyone will agree on that.
    – Mitrovic – Looks like he could be a perfect number 9. He is a bit hot heated but I think he has been desperate to perform straight away. I expect goals when he comes back (right in line with some easier fixtures)
    – Mbemba – Looks great. Will get better and better.
    – Thauvin – Started well, we needed an out and out winger, hope he is the man to do it.
    – Ivan Toney – We will see!

    – Shame about Kemen and Abeid, surely we could have loaned Kemen. Something must have happened behind the scenes there.
    – Jonas, one more year?

Overall pretty happy. Think we have brought in some great players and very happy with the coaching additions. Probably an underwhelming finish this season but I think we will be set up to progress in the future. We might have a cup run this year. Young players bought so should only get better! Shame we didn’t get another CB, but Colo has been fantastic in the first few games, hopefully he can keep it up and we will be fine until next year.

Williamson is still a Newcastle player.

    I’m furious.

Good signings but not nearly enough done imho.

More pleased that the coach and coaching staff have been replaced tbh.

Can the clubs still sign players on free agent?

Good summary. Hope these buys and future buys are players who the club wants to fit in mcclarens system, not purely for sell on value. Need to follow swansea’s blueprints.

Really surprised at Vuckic getting a new contract, I thought his time was well up!

Some players are just very lucky here like, how him, Obertan, Williamson and Gouffran are still here is beyond me.

    Voted No.

We went to the wire last season. We’ve signed three good players and one who could be anything. We’re still without an inform striker. We could have done with two if we’re making our own luck. That’s shocking. Graham Carr should be sleeping very uneasily.

Other clubs have strengthened. We talk about the next couple of windows. Other clubs will strengthen then too. Three good players is not enough.

Cant really complain given we are one of the biggest spenders.

Think we have bough good calibre of players, which hopefully is a sign of things to come.

Havent really addressed the issues which i think is a bit silly but Im not going to be one of those that stands bleeding on about a new cb and how we havent done enough when Ashley has come good on his promise.

I suspect we wouldve brough a new CB in had we managed to offload some other players which we failed to do.

Still, no doubt we have improved the squad in terms of quality and depth.

Very good window. For the defenders issue, If Mcca sees they r ok. Am ok with that. Mcca shld work on our attack. I think we r going to b a boring team.

Free agents can still sign, as can and Out of contract players still sitting at clubs, as long as they were as such before the window shut. Usually ends up being a waste of time, though. Never any decent ones knocking about.

    Think it has been good:
4 top players brought in each strengthening a different area
    no-one sold
    new coaching team

Yes we need further big strengthening in Jan and defs next summer but as stage 1 of the 3 window plan then i think we are in a better position now than we all expected in May.

Just need Mitro to calm the feck down now!

    Voted yes

    4 potentially huge players signed
    No one sold
    New coaching setup

Yes we need further investment in Jan and next summer, especially in defence and attack, but as stage 1 of the 3 window plan then i think we are in a better position now than we expected in May.

Semi-satisfied with some great signings but sorry to be doom and gloom but think we’re only just above relegation. They said we may have a surprising signing so was excited for Abdennour and finally two quality centre backs. Disappointed about Santon still, Abeid and to a certain extent Kemen and Cabella, and we have not pounced where needed on Ayew, Van Dijk, Shaquiri and Gomis, so Swansea, Southampton and Stoke move further out of our reach.

As the first of three big spending transfer windows, i’m happy. Taken as a window in isolation, not so much. At least this time we have some promise that there will be more signings to come both in Jan and next summer. Previously we have been left with signing free barren spells.
First XI replacements required for Colo, Anita & Colback in Jan and we go from there

I think the net spend needs to take in to account the cabaye money too as that was sitting in the bank before we started.
All in all good value considering sterling cost 50 mill. However, we needed defensive cover as I personally don’t feel we have the quality to cover a couple of injuries which history suggests we will have!

The negativity here is horrendous, did we think we were going to do everything in one window? I know talk is cheap but we have signed 4 players that fit straight in to the 1st team AND let no-one of any importance go.

No from me. If that squad only needed one new defender I’m a monkey’s uncle. And what on earth are the likes of Williamson, Gouffran, Obertan and Riviere still doing here? No doubt in my mind we still look like a bottom five team. Everyone who finished above us last season have improved their squads. Ashley is still riding his luck, not making it.

IMO, an outstanding transfer period for us. Not just in terms of talent brought to NUFC, but most (maybe all) signings look like bargains, especially in light of other teams’ signings in the last week. The last few years have made all queasy at mention of good “financial” transactions, it’s still a good thing to get talent at a bargain price.

From what we’ve seen, I’d rate the transfers:

Mbemba – 8/10 (demonstrated talent in match appearances; can play RB (vs. DePay!) as well; great value; lots of upside; fills need)

Wijnaldum – 7+/10 (has run the offense since match 1; great attitude and work rate; can improve stamina; finishes better than I expected)

Thauvin – 6+/10 (high price; flashes of brilliance shows upside; fast w/ good ball handling; good set pieces)

    Tomey – ? (we’ll see)

    Mitrovic – between 1/10 and 7/10 🙂 (looks and acts like an old-school #9; looks like a movie villain :); big & strong; some self-discipline issues…)

Transfers out: 8/10 I haven’t pissed or moaned about any departures yet, and have been overjoyed to still have Cisse, Perez, Aarons, Tiote, Dummet, etc. still on our squad. Was surprised that Coloccini was extended, but MU and AFC matches make that move look genius.

Could we have done better? Of course. In the context of what’s happened over the last few years, how does this window rate? Brilliant!!!! Good signings and (almost more importantly) no senior exits on the last day. I simply can’t remember when we last had a window like this where we ended up with no big exits and one of the highest nett spends in the league. Bloody remarkable, if you ask me. The mood in the club seems better than it has been for a long time and we seem to be on the up. Let’s see how we go, but I’m feeling bullish. Come on the lads!!!

Can’t really say I’m pleased . I thought a striker may have been on the agenda , but lying joint bottom and not buying anyone could be a big big mistake come May .

What’s all this — stage 1 of the 3 window plan ?? Just buy the players and get on with the job ffs . It’s clearly not the ‘5 year plan ‘ any more , that’s been taken over by the 3 window plan . Give me strength

I get a bit sick of the obertan witch hunt if I am honest. short memoriesas the guy was our best player I the first 10 games last year and has had a good pre season anddecent start this year being onwof the only players to have shots on target. like him or hate him I always think we look a better teamwith him in the side. personally I think if we are up against it like we were against arsenal he should play as lone striker. he is big strong can hold the ball up and is quick so at least we have an outlet. he wasnt the best player in france at the age of 17 and then go to Man utd for no reason. as soon as he does onw tgung wring the whole stadium are on his back. he has good feet and links up well with others. I would like to see him given fair crack of the whip instead of being berated all the time

Unfortunately I had to vote no, we have bought 4 excellent players but needed an extra defender hence the no vote. Teams around us have strengthened significantly as well so could be a long season again
