It’s Hard With 10 Men – We Have To Be Careful

9:43 am, Thursday, September 3rd, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 7 Comments

Moussa Sissoko is one of our good players that we thought could leave Newcastle in the summer,  after the debacle we had when John Carver was the interim coach.

But after we brought in four good first team players for over £50M in the summer, and Newcastle also managed to keep the good players like Moussa we still wanted, and so it was a successful transfer window.

The fans seem happy enough with 73% in our poll saying they were satisfied with the summer transfer business.

Moussa Sissoko – in action against Arsenal

Newcastle have only two points from four games so far this season, but we have also shot ourselves in the foot in two of those games.

At Swansea and at home to Arsenal we had Daryl Janmaat and Aleksandar Mitrovic sent off in the first half of those games.

Moussa Sissoko is with the French squad at the moment preparing for their friendly match with Portugal in Lisbon tomorrow night, and he had this to say about playing with only 10 men:

“When you play 10 against 11 it’s hard, and when you play against a big team like Arsenal it’s too hard,”

“We tried to do our best. We showed some good things.” “Defensively, we were very good, and they scored in the second half.”

“We have to learn from this game and try to be careful with tackles and fouls. We have to try to keep 11 men on the pitch and win the game.”

“We showed some very good things,” “You can see we tried to play more and create some good movement and chances.”

“But it was hard 10 against 11 against a big team. I hope, after the international games, we will show some good things and get a good result.”

Newcastle have defended well in the last two league games at Old Trafford and against Arsenal but we haven’t exactly been threatening up front, and we’ve had very few shots on goal.

When we play the weaker sides, that’s an area we have to improve on, if we are going to start wining games.

We are at West Ham a week on Monday, and that’s a game we have to be going all out to win.

Newcastle need to start putting some points on the board very soon.

Comments welcome.

well its either cisse or de jong up front for the west ham game

we have to go for the win

west ham lined up 433 against fool and I don’t see them changing that

    I would go

    sissoko anita gini
    perez cisse thauvin

there is goals in there and the work rate I also think we could keep the ball a bit better

There is a big difference between being ‘satisfied’ and ‘happy’ with the trnsfer window

    beermonkey @ 4

I agree it was refreshing to see the WBA chairman/owner and the Everton chairman/owner stand firm. However, would we be so relaxed if it was us making the running for these two players ?

The real issue is the timing of the transfer window. It seems ridiculous that the window closes sometime after season has started. The last day should be midnight on the Friday before the first game of the season on the Saturday.

Swansea were all over us and 1-0 before the sending off and both ManU and Arsenal had us pinned in our own third – we look better defensively because the whole team is defending
let’s see how we do in the next couple of games – I want to see us attacking

both Chelsea and spurs know what fee was needed but like us in the past haggled to long
Chelsea have pots of cash so I don’t blame everton and spurs were desperate
I know a few spurs fans there more miffed with levy than west brom because they chased berohino and failed to get him now there going into the season with one striker

it is odd that the window is still open after the start but does this not bring us inline with the leagues in Europe like france Italy Germany, not sure though

We play with 10 men all the time when Anita is in the team. Cannot believe he is in the Dutch squad. Worst player in our team.
