Papiss Cisse In For Mitrovic The Only Change

west-ham-united-crestnufc emblem

Steve McClaren has just announced the Newcastle team for the important game at West Ham United tonight.

Newcastle: Krul, Janmaat, Mbemba, Coloccini (c), Haidara, Colback, Anita, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Thauvin, Cisse
Subs: Darlow, Lascelles, Gouffran, Obertan, Aarons, de Jong, Perez

As expected Papiss Cisse for Aleksandar Mitrovic is the only change to the side that did so well last time out against Arsenal, when we played with 10 men for 74 minutes of that game.

And Yoan Gouffran makes the bench tonight with Jamaal Lascelles also in for Steven Taylor as a sub.

Seems like McClaren is trying to give different players some time on the bench.

Former Newcastle striker Andy Carroll is on the bench for West Ham.

This is what Steve McClaren has said about tonight’s opponents West Ham:

“There’s a lot of frustration out there with teams not reaching the level they want but hopefully after the break, I think we’ll start to see a greater amount of consistency,”

“Looking around the league, you see a lot of teams struggling to find consistency and West Ham are certainly one of them.”

“It’s difficult to judge West Ham, especially at this stage of the season, as you just don’t know what side will turn up. They’ve had two great away performances but they’ve been disappointing at home so, much like us, they’ll go into the game looking to prove a point,”

“The international break has given us the chance to go away and reflect on our start to the season and now we’re back, we can really start to push on.”

“This is where the season properly starts, now with the transfer window out of the way we can really get down to business and show what we’re all about.”

There’s a decent amount of confidence from Newcastle fans – 80% think we can take something out of this game.

The will be Newcastle’s last visit to Upton Park – let’s hope we can come away with a win.

Update – Newcastle arrived at Upton Park at 7:10 pm tonight but they were 40 minutes late due to London traffic – we must make a strong start to the is game and cannot be caught asleep.

Howay The Lads!!

    GTwo –

I think Steve gets the full season unless we are in the bottom 3 in March. He signed on being told he would oversee a project and he’s certainly told them the he’s on for the project but that you can’t judge a project that hasn’t had time to settle. If we’re relegation fodder in March I think Mike panics as the potential money loss is too great and goes after someone…the problem is who is available then? Not anyone worth grabbing, generally. Hopefully we never end up in that unfortunate scenario.

I think we’ll be 10th in March and coasting along without much excitement but without any scares.

Predictable line up so much for trying to find a winning team, colback Anita don’t work in the same team, one needs dropped and I’m not arsed who either offer much to the team

Hmmm, underwhelmed. I would have though McClaren would have seen the midfield problems that most of us have. This will be another game where we will struggle to score

Toon team bus currently stuck in traffic, makes a change from McClaren parking it!

Would of liked to see Perez with SDJ just behind him.

Not sure Cisse will be mobile enough. He can score if we get the chances to him.

Think today’s game hinges on how well Thauvin plays.

    Cmon Toon

team itself is a good choice 11, very much the same one as my choice would be.

going off the fact west ham have lost the first two games of season we might be expecting this to be a very asy game for the first win but those two losses might make it become a more difficult game to get the win, a point will be ok and yeh it might mean we are still sitting in the bottom 3 but at this minute in time that league table tells nothing leister 2nd, chelsea 17th.

A predictable team from McClaren. One I’m sure Bolivia would have been expecting and preparing his side for.

As I said earlier, I expect Bilic will have been showing his players the Swansea match and will have them working to use the pace on the flanks to get behind us and cause us problems like Montero and Ayew did.

Not filled with confidence, but will be watching and hoping the same line old line up can offer more going forward then so far this season.

so far this season we’ve got only 1 point less that we expected.

southampton should have been 3 of course but it is our bogey team to some

swansea maybe 1 point but a stupid bit of play that is the fault of a player himself cost us 10 men A is certainly going to turn defensive

manure- we should be getting 0 points

arsenal 1 point at best but most days 0 and when a clown gets himself sent off again we’ll be sure to just hit and hope for that chance of a point at best.

therefore we’ve only 1 point less than expected.

    Lil,

I fear they will play directly and with pace, as Swansea and Southampton did.
It will be a very different test for our shield wall than that offered by Man Utd and Arsenal, who kept it on the ground and probed.

This is just like still having Pardew here. Manager has his favourites and keeps the same team lose or draw. I would say win, lose or draw but i wouldn’t know!
Must be so easy for opposition managers to line up against us.

They didn’t even bother to name a formation, is that because McClaren is so predictable that everybody can assume it’s a 4-2-3-1.

I was led to assume that the club had ended its poor communication with the fans? I also thought that formations not being disclosed would have started and ended with Carver.

Why name every formation this season, to stop now? Absolutely pathetic.

apart from dejong who else could come on as sub and give us hope of still remaining a threat, perez and arrons are decent but they’re still young and neither have goals in them, i also see gooffran back again.
