Perez And Cisse Start Against Watford

nufc emblemwatford FC

Steve McClaren has just named the team for the important game against Watford at St. James´ Park today, and it looks like there is just one change from the side that lost to West Ham on Monday night – Ayoze Perez in for Vurnon Anita.

So there´s no Siem de Jong or Aarons in the starting line-up, which is a bit of a surprise.

Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Daryl Janmaat, Chancel Mbemba, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Massadio Haidara; Georginio Wijnaldum, Jack Colback; Moussa Sissoko, Ayoze Perez, Florian Thauvin; Papiss Cisse
Subs: Rob Elliot, Jamaal Lascelles, Mike Williamson, Vurnon Anita, Gabriel Obertan, Rolando Aarons, Siem de Jong

It looks like Wijnaldum will take Anita´s place as one of the two holding positions, alongside Jack Colback – so Vurnon is a little unlucky to be the only player dropped after Monday night.

We need to see a lot more from Cisse in this game, and he needs to get a lot better service than he got on Monday night too.

This is what Steve McClaren has said about the game:

“We were very disappointed with the result and the performance on Monday” “The main disappointment was how we reacted to the second goal going in.”

“We picked things up after the substitutions but for about 20 minutes following the second goal there was no response, no urgency and that’s something we’ll be looking to put right.”

“It’s normal to lose games but it’s the way you lose that matters and the way we lost on Monday wasn’t acceptable.” “It is how you respond to that which is important and we’ll look for a good response against Watford.”

“The atmosphere has been unbelievable in the first two home games and we need it to continue on Saturday,” “We’re in a transition period so we need that support to help us get that result and push on.”

“We’re still learning about each other and it’s a learning process, but you need results and we need a reaction against Watford.” “We knew it would be a tough start.”

“It’s going to take time to settle but on Saturday we have the opportunity to move on and get a win on the board.”

Three in five fans think we can win this game.

truly i say, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for newcastle to win a game with colo in the team

    As i predicted

    SUTTY1978 // Sep 19, 2015 at 1:38 PM

Recon Anita out Perez in will be the only change and it will only be made to placate those asking for a change of personnel. Formation will be the same, lack of cutting edge will be the same, result unfortunately will be the same.

Looks more like a 442 with perez & cisse up top. I can’t imagine wijnaldum is gettin dropped deeper. Looks like colback on the defensive duties & wijnaldum picking up & moving forward.

Can’t believe we are not going for a 352

Wonder what the 4231 will look like this time ?

We should actually play a 433 with Perez and Thauvin cutting inside on their strong foot with Sissoko Wijnaldum bombing into the box late on at every opportunity

Such a big game today as we have Chelsea next who look like they are going to beat Arsenal

Not enough really. Perez up top and Aarons in would’ve been better, or SDJ even.

Glad we have a master tactician like McClaren in charge, Watford have no chance now he’s pulled this masterstroke.

I said it before the Hammers game and how we attack will be down to how Thauvin plays. He hardly got the ball in the first half but still did very little when he did. It’s still very early for him.
I do not agree with Cisse and I believe this may be his last start for Toon – Mitrovic will be back and hopefully he and Perez will form a partnership.
Cisse is half the player, yes he doesn’t get many chances but he has turned lazy. I have never known a striker be offside as many times.
I hope for a win but think a low score draw.
Sissoko get your bloody act together!

Absolutely sick and tired of that man Cisse up front. He looks totally clueless, unfit, weak, and technically deficient and has done for a good two seasons now. I for one can’t wait to see the back of him and his three wives. That being said, Cisse will no doubt ”be in the right place in the right time” as the ball cannons off his pea-head and he keeps up that somehow decent goals to games ratio, which he simply does not deserve given his woeful all round play.
Still can’t really believe young Aarons hasn’t had a start, who was by far our best player in pre-season…. for the second year running (new contract?!?!?) The team is crying out for someone with that bit of spark and positivity that Aarons clearly offers. I hope he at least gets a proper run out, though I can see the brolly-wolly already favours half-man-half- octopus Obertan. All that being said I hope we at least play with some balls today, as if we continue like we have been – gutless, careless, clueless – Fat Mike won’t be getting that Prem TV money he so dearly craves! So again we use the same 4231 and poor form and bad attitude Cisse starts?

    What a joke McClaren is!

SDJ should be in the middle with Perez up top.

This is from the official site

Perez’s inclusion – at the expense of midfielder Vurnon Anita – is the only change from Monday’s defeat at West Ham, although with it comes a slight reshuffle to the Magpies’ ranks.
United are expected to start in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with goalkeeper Tim Krul behind a back four of Daryl Janmaat, Chancel Mbemba, captain Fabricio Coloccini and Massadio Haidara.
Jack Colback and Georginio Wijnaldum should anchor the hosts’ midfield on Tyneside, with a trio of Moussa Sissoko, Perez and Florian Thauvin ahead of them.
And they will be tasked with supplying the ammunition for Papiss Cisse, who goes in search for his first goal since the opening day of the season.

Theres so much wrong with this i dont know where to start. Even the official site shows the negativity of the set up. Two players “anchoring the midfield”. Thats the job they have been told to do. Dont get forward dont get involved, just protect the defence. So we are limited to four players trying to score but hang on lads, three of you dont bother trying to score just try to give it to Cisse, cos he’s so consistent!

Paul Simpson has described the formation more of a 433 he said thauvin Perez and cisse up too so it may not be the 4321 you all think.

Where does Cisse deserve to be in the team?

Well I guess we will have to wait for the excuse if Watford win.

The refereeing this season has been embarrassing – every foul’s a yellow, but outright thuggish antagonistic behaviour goes seen & unpunished. It takes the mick and encourages Chelsea’s dour style of ‘football’ that cost hundreds of millions to produce

433 easily converts into a 4231 mate, I stated this a couple of days ago.

Sissoko, Winaldum, Colback will be holding midfielders until Winaldum pushes up.

@Nezza: Who is the alternative? Perez isn’t a lone striker, and the only other option we have is Riviere (who I think is injured?).

Why SDJ isn’t starting is beyond me, though.

Perez can be used as a lone striker though, he has the ability and potential to become an Aguero type player for us.

Plus he doesn’t go missing like Cisse did at WHU and as soon as Perez came on with SDJ the team had changed.

To me I think Perez should be the new number 9 not Cisse or Mitrovic.

couldn’t have said it better, everyday on the streets people will be fined for swearing in anger during a debate with police yet the players can get away with abusive murder and still not be booked.

This consistant rise in yellow cards themselve is where I blame the softies who keep coming across from those weak tackling leagues, as the years go by all this weaker and weaker tackling could see more and more boring football where posession is dominated in the own half whilst the rest of the field run around into the space for the pass.

Not sure about starting Cisse – he’ll more than likely do nothing -apart from losing possession time and time again -so everything will break down.
Must be in players mind set not to even embark on running ahead of him when you know more than likely he’ll lose possession and the overlap was for nothing.
I’m going for a scrappy 2 – 1 win -based on the heart and not the head.

Come tell me guys when was the last time Cisse had the ball and ran past players?

I know it’s not his role but he does drop deep to try and help out.

Now I ask the same about Perez?

He gets the ball, gets past his players and looks to bring others in and also opens up play for himself to receive the ball.

Nezza, i think Aguero was about Perez’s age when City signed him. I like Perez but he’s no where near the class of Aguero. Doesn’t have the strength, the pace or the centre of gravity.
