This is the final season of the three-year Premier League TV rights deal that was in total around £3B, and next summer starts the next three years of that and that total money will go up to £5.1B.
Newcastle have been getting just short of £80M for the first two years of this current deal, so starting next year if would be fairly safe to say we will be getting around £136M for each of the three seasons, starting next summer.
Lee Charnley and Mike Ashley on last day of last season
That´s huge money for any club, and of course Mike Ashley the money-man will be relishing that – but in order for Newcastle to receive that money – obviously we have to stay in the Premier League.
Lee Charnley is running the club for Ashley, and he is the top executive and leads the Newcastle Board of Directors.
It was Lee who oversaw things after Alan Pardew left the club, forced out by the Sack Pardew crowd who wanted him out of the club.
What we got in place of Alan was an inexperienced coach who talked about how he could get the Newcastle head coach job while he continued to lose game after game.
And then it was the Board of Directors who appointed Steve McClaren as the new head coach, days after he had been fired from Derby County.
Simply put – Mike Ashley is letting the Board run the club.
At the start of last season, there was follow-on in poor results after we had lost seven of our last eight games in the 2013-2014 season.
And it seems we have the same thing happening again this season – after we lost nine games of the last eleven league games earlier this year.
We cannot imagine Mike Ashley is pleased with what he has seen in the last two games and that Newcastle are second bottom of the league, although he will give Steve McClaren time to get the side gelling.
Given the money situation and what Newcastle could lose with relegation this season, we cannot imagine Ashley is going to stay in the background if we continue to linger in the bottom three in the league.
It´s too early to do much at the moment and certainly far too early to panic.
Although as we suggested after the game yesterday – the Board should be working on new acquisitions who could come in during the January transfer window.
If we are in the bottom three and fighting relegation at the end of the year – look to Mike Ashley to make more big money available.
But the Board will need to bring in players this time who can make an immediate impact.
Apart from Charlie Austin who else would be available with those credentials?
What do you think?

Yeah I realised that and it is something fan’s forum should work on . A I said I sat for years in Gallowgate but had some mates who sat in level 7 and they used to say that back then there weren’t many around them who made noise.
Where I used to sit I knew no one at first in what was then new stand and i came of waiting list before my mates. however most were vociferous but it was in the good times of KK. Later under Daglish etc the voices weren’t as encouraging!
I could hear some noise from Gallowgate yesterday after we scored and crowd generally lifted but Watford fans still dominated in Leazes.
Although I don’t like sitting up there ( used mates ticket once) the roof and level seem to naturally escalate the noise especially of away fans who are usually more noisy and congregated than home support.
I don’t think we are the only club to suffer from a lack of atmosphere for large parts of the game when we are struggling but it should be something to be improved on.

Comment #163With the ills of this regimes reign dragging on year after year after year its hardly surprising that a turn around will take time.
After last season the majority were crying out for a new manger and a complete overhaul of the coaching staff.
We have had that vital change and, in time we will reap the rewards.
Players will unfortunately take time to settle into this new training and coaching philosophyand for some a new league. You cannot simply change the mind set in a few weeks, given whats went on previously.
A change of system may be needed though. 442 or 433 because 2 dfm and one up top snt working because we dont have the personnel to play that way but again SM doesn’t know his best team yet…. He needs time im affraid.
