This May Be Some Good News For Newcastle

8:52 am, Thursday, September 24th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 16 Comments

I know it can come as a bit of a shock,  but it seems there may be some good news for Newcastle and that Aleksandar Mitrovic will probably start the game at home to Chelsea on Saturday.

We are hoping he can provide some thrust up front which has been badly missing in the three games he has missed, which have turned out to be three defeats in which the team has played poorly.

Steve McClaren seems confident that the 21 year-old will settle down and be a success at Newcastle United.

The 21-year-old has now finished his three games out after picking up a red card after only 16 minutes against Arsenal at home on 29th August.

That game seems a long way off now.

This is what McClaren has said about the 15 times capped Serbian International:

“He has shown enough spirit, fight and will to win. Probably overly!”

“He’s demonstrated that and he’s showed that in training. We expect high things of him.”

“There’s been a lot of criticism of players coming in but this is the Premier League, and they have time to adjust. It takes time.”

“Mitro will come back in on Saturday.”

McClaren has little option but to start the Serbian International and we hope he has more control over his game that he has shown so far this season – we must keep 11 men on the field against Chelsea.

If Newcastle can take a point against Chelsea on Saturday it will be a good result and help stop the rot.

Comments welcome.

    My apologies
Sorry I stand corrected Mbabu replaced Janmaat
getting Mbabu muddled up with Mbemba

Well the wheels are truly off , McClarens been found out to be wearing no clothes and it’s not a pretty sight – beaten at home against a mid table championship club who fielded there reserve team
The whole staff at nufc should be ashamed and embarrassed, clearly they don’t give a toss and happy to pick up the cash every week
Relegation beckons and I wouldn’t be surprised to see us relegated with the lowest points / goals scored in the history of the premiership

Mitro needs to ne sensible and know that referees, however unfairly, will be on the look out for him. The red card was because he sloppily let his leg follow through rather than deliberately seeking to cause harm. Hopefully playing against Chelsea there will be more leanancy.

its ok I was only curious as to how well they did

the answer could be some of the younger players cos at the mo it aint the first team

Ed ” If Newcastle can take a point against Chelsea on Saturday it will be a good result and help stop the rot.”

Ed that may be a fair statement in the light of our current predicament but also is a reflection of the current malaise that permeates the club.

” IF ‘ is an indecisive word.
” Can take a ( single ) point against Chelsea ..” Should be more about taking three points at home off a Chelsea side who have many problems themselves.

Mclaren is the face of beige. He was the safe bet that Charnley and Carr predictably turned to after Carver rather than having the vision of starting a new era at the club.

There’s a book out there “How not to run a business.” .. NUFC have many chapters

Definitely Mbabu as we was wearing number 43.

The worst point of the game will have only been picked up by some of those there in the absence of a feed – about 5 mins before the end of the 1st half we were trying to attack & Anita got the ball in the centre circle. As usual he ran around in circles & couldn’t find anyone to pass to. I cant remember whether he then gave it away or passed it back to Krul but when he was met by a chorus of boos he simply turned to the East Stand & shrugged his shoulders as if to say what could he do. Until our players want the ball things will never get any better.

I have always resisted posting on here as it only makes me more angry with our situation but tbh I couldn’t be any more angry this morning. Feels like I’m in a time warp back to the mid 80’s & all of the good times since never happened. I was one for giving Schteeve time but his 4-6-0 setup last night has me seriously questioning his judgement. Unlike many here, I dont blame Ashley; this one is purely down to the playing staff & inept coaches.

On a previous post i stated Ashley had put 50 to spend .
I realise that this is club money, but cant be spent without the slug,s permission.
    Lillongwe Geordie.

    Ashley OOT

point of Chelsea – no chance – can’t even beat a championship reserve (mustered one shot)
Muhrino will get his day on Saturday at St James’s waited a long time – anything below 6 will be a good result.
The team club are physically and mentally SHOT!!!
What was the lowest points total in Premiership – cannot remember but we are in danger of taking that record in if we keep playing like we did in the last three games

the way they played against Watford with nearly 50 crosses put into the box im guessing McClaren is putting all his eggs in the Mitrovic box.
He did a similar thing with Derby and Chris Martin and they fell apart when he got injured.
My guess is we’ll set up similar to David Moyes Man Utd. Perhaps even similar to chris hughtons Newcastle with Mitro instead of carroll, de jong instead of Nolan etc

A bit unfair to say that Macca and his staff don’t give a toss. The players, with a few notable exceptions, now that’s another matter.
Can the manager get his players, all of them, to care and fight for the shirt, that’s the big question, and will decide whether or not we stay up this season.
How good is Steve McClaren at motivating his squad ? We’ll know before many weeks are out.

One thing is for sure, that Norwich game is absolutely huge in October! Think if we have less than 6 points after the Mackem game (Which is quite possible) McClaren will resign. Traditionally he’s not one to stick around ala carver and pardew when he’s out of ideas

@Beavis – you don’t blame Ashley. Why the hell not?
There is a reason this Club does NOT want a manager, and that reason is Ashley.
There is a reason Carr chooses who we sign and that reason is Ashley.
There was a reason that previously, Llambias, Jimenez, Wise and Kinnear decided who we signed and sold – and that reason was Ashley.
There is a reason why the type of player we sign is based on age and cost rather than need and proven worth – and that reason is Ashley.
This is the Ashley model – yet he is the only person you don;t blame for it?

The system 451 keep ball is not working Steve everyone can see.

To score you need a threat which we don’t have unless it’s a counter attack so other teams don’t commit more than four players!! Tbh they don’t need to one high ball around the box gets won in the air then a few passes later it’s in the net.

352 with Mbemba Colo Lasseles/Willo or Dummett when fit to challenge Ariel balls the lb is a weakness so pointless trying when we only have one player who is young so gets targeted every epl game(Watch Pedro on sat night)

Midfield still has 5 in with Janmaat on right and play Arrons on the left Smc has already played him at lb. Then the two deep cm we need Tiote who can tackle and stop attacks agianst with another from Colback,Anita,Sissoko then either Dejong or Wini a bit higher with Mitrovic for a direct ball along side Perez who can help and be in the right place for a flick on.

We would have two upfront with more threat then at any time go long if needed and still try possession.

There’s only one way to find out – FIIIIGHT!!!!!
