Top Player Available But Three Doubtful For Newcastle

5:03 pm, Friday, September 25th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 44 Comments

Steve McClaren has said that Daryl Janmaat – Newcastle’s leading scorer at the moment – will be fit for the game against Chelsea tomorrow.

Daryl has two goals for us and he´s a man in form at the moment for Newcastle, which is a bit of a rarity, and it looks like the Dutchman has recovered from the sickness on Wednesday, when he has to leave the game at half-time.

Daryl Janmaat – fit for tomorrow

But three other players who didn’t make it for the game on Wednesday night are still touch and go – those players are Jack Colback, Rolando Aarons and Massadio Haidara.

After being unable to win any of our previous four games, Newcastle are still without a league win this season and we have only one win in eight games.

That was against Northampton Town – who we managed to beat 4-1.

So we were able to score some goals that night – which has been a rarity in our other seven games – when we have scored only three goals and in five games we have failed to score.

It´s shades of what happened last season so nothing much seems to have been fixed in the summer – not yet anyway.

    Please please please Mr Harrison

Can we have a vote on which player we would like to leave the squad the most?

  • 2 barkel // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:11 PM

What would be the point of that? Besides it’d be much easier to decide who we want to keep!

  • 3 JackButler // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:11 PM

If we get through the next two games without conceding double figures I’d be very surprised tbh if Sheffield Wednesday are too much for us to deal with then what the hell are Chelsea and City going to be able to do?

SM is facing an almost impossible task as he simply does not have the players……it’s going to be one very long, very hard season and it’s all Ashley’s making

  • 4 AncientC // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:31 PM

Here is hoping McClaren has spotted Ivanovic as a weakness and plans to give Aarons’ a crack at him. I will not hold out much hope on that one.

  • 6 toon kk // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:39 PM

Macca said on SSN its getting the players to produce in a game, they play well in practice and they need to take that into the games.

which is true, but its when poor players get into company thats when they’re shown for what they are.

  • 7 GeordieTwo // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:39 PM

Was away and just saw the news for the club. Lost to Wednesday and more signs of panic within the management. When you try to build with lies and deceit it finally comes crashing down. Ashley oot!!!!

  • 8 JamesToon // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:41 PM

McClaren talking like and aspiring to van gaal with his philoshophy and proshesh.

In terms of the style of play, it’s defo better to watch but so frustrating with the lack of pressing, if we want to play a possession game, the defence need to push higher up the pitch and needs to be a lot more Intensity when defending from the front

  • 9 JamesToon // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:42 PM

Teams like saints have mastered pressing high up the pitch

  • 10 Blackley and Brownlie // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:43 PM

Ivanovic is woeful. I would like to see Aarons play simply to silence once and for all the clamour on here for his inclusion. He’s done next to nothing. He doesn’t look like doing anything. I just don’t get why so many fans think he’s the answer? Then again, I didn’t get why so many fans thought the new boys were the answer.

  • 11 GeordieTwo // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:49 PM

We just don’t have the players JamesToon mate. We are woeful up front and very weak in defense. Nothing has changed. The owner has wanted nothing but a series of inexperienced (in the Prem that is) midfielders which he hoped to sell on at huge profit. Think of the number of midfielders we’ve gone through in the last 81/2 years. A list would include: Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Cabella, Sissoko, De Jong, Bigi, Anita, Thauvin, Vuckic, Barton, Tiote, Marveaux…….the list goes on and on. And how many CB’s have we brought in over that same time? Possibly 3, 2 of who are gone? And how many experienced strikers have we outright bought? One. Cisse. Ba was on a free and Remy was a loan. It’s a farce and the piper now has to be paid mate.

  • 12 GeordieTwo // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:50 PM

The piper must be paid Ashley. Get out you parasite!!!

  • 13 JamesToon // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:51 PM

Sadly I agree. Just need to buy some experience quality and british

  • 14 Fostino // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:52 PM

Plating mbemba as lb tomorrow just screams how inadequate out recruiting was. Janmaat needed a break on wed but of course wed no cover.

Letting go of good players like Santon. .abeid against their wishes is baffling. The likes of Willo. ..goofy…marvo. ..cisse…colo..Anita…tiote ..elliott should have been told that it’s mate…time to go. You career has gone stagnant here and yiu will not blossom again at this club.

Rolando should have been given good chance bu now.

  • 15 GeordieTwo // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:54 PM

Nothing will change with Ashley. The whole structure of the club is rotten. The man is not committed to nothing but lining his own pockets. We’ll stagger through another season and possibly avoid relegation. That’s what we’ve got to look forward to yet again. Ashley out!!! Not a penny to the club until he’s gone…

  • 16 Graeme // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:54 PM

I just have this weird feeling that Jose is not his usual cock-sure self and we are going to see Mitro prove a point.
IF and it’s a big if, the defence play as well as they did against Manure, we will win this one – 1-0 to NUFC, Mitro’s opening goal in his Newcastle carreer.

  • 17 toon kk // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:54 PM

Macca says it’s getting the players used to play a certain way.
What is his style of play? Does it involve scoring.

  • 18 beefman13 // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:55 PM

Mclaren and NUFC are a mockery, just frigan madness, cant even look at Mclaren at the minute, what an awful decision to put Aarons out on loan, he was more than ready last season, they have not got a clue, what the hell are they thinking???? and bloody obertan is ready i suppose shteve you numpty nuts.

  • 19 Tsunki // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:57 PM

Aarons would be a regular if he was that good. Just because we’ve seen a glimpse of promise once or twice does not mean he is the finished article. I’m sick of hearing about him. If he’s all that good then it must be a lousy attitude because for certain SM would play his granny if he thought he could get a decent game out of her.

Btw Blackley the fans that thought the new crop of players were all that because the club and professional punditry bigged them up. Plus a few ‘blue sky ‘ posters who waxed lyrical about new mind sets, revolutionary new coaching methods , unwarranted feverish optimism and other tosh didn’t help. Can I ask you the same question about Carr as well that wasn’t answered yesterday? What is your solution to the problem?

  • 20 GeordieTwo // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:57 PM

Should read the man is committed to lining his own pockets and he’s not even good at that with the football club. What a farce. He’ll have to hide all the time now. Can’t see him showing up at a home game for quite some time to come.

  • 21 Blackley and Brownlie // Sep 25, 2015 at 5:58 PM

“We didn’t have a striker at all on Wednesday. We are short in that area, but Mitrovic coming back … he can be our focal point.”

Hahahahaha. We spend £50m purportedly bolting a horse to a cart and we have no striker. The shoe in striker, whom we purportedly tracked all summer, remains at QPR scoring goals for fun.

Makro is grateful for Mitrovic’s return and has no choice but to play him. Even though he currently looks raw, unfit and out of his depth.

Daryl Janmaat is lauded as our best player and best chance of a goal. A player who is poor defensively and who can’t find a final ball when getting forward.

And the hierarchy are sticking to their line since Pardew left that they’re not panicking.

You couldn’t make it up. You could NOT make it ip.

  • 22 GeordieTwo // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:01 PM

Why didn’t we go after Vlaar to stabilize the defense? No sell-on value. Why didn’t we pay 15M for Austin? Because we plan to get him on a free next summer (if we’re still in the Prem that is). Why do we chase young, inexperienced French and Belgian players? They will sign for lower wages and could have big sell-on value. Are we building a team to win anything? No. We are a meat market for the idiot at the top.

  • 23 Tsunki // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:01 PM

You could not make it Internet Protocol you are correct, Blackley. For a start you would need a subnet mask, and a valid address range…. 🙂

Sorry that was facetious to almost jeff standards. Almost.

  • 24 Tsunki // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:03 PM

So why not have a poll on whether Ashley’s famous “Win in our Time” video was a lie or True, Ed?

  • 25 toon kk // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:03 PM

When p45 was here he always had the most success when Aarons was fit and in the team.
I bet pards snaps him up when he eventually goes. Personally I think the lad has real potential but can our board see it? I dowt it.

  • 26 GeordieTwo // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:03 PM

Keep going to the matches. Keep spending money for kit. Ashley will laugh himself silly and just carry right on destroying the club. He’s got us in a state now that will be very hard to recover from. He wasted a lot of his money in the summer. We didn’t shore up the defense properly and we didn’t build a decent attack. Huge mistakes that may take us down again.

  • 27 kakaobi // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:06 PM

Just face it we are shit

  • 28 toon kk // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:08 PM

I don’t think Aarons is the finished article, but he has great potential and possesses something that we desperately need, Pace.

  • 29 beefman13 // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:13 PM

toon kk, Mclaren has gave Aarons no chance at all, ten mins here and there, not the finished article off course but better than Obertan, Steves old mate, and the kid is quick beats players scores goals, wow, get him out on loan,”madness when we are in this situation” im fcukin furious, wonder if its got owt to do with his new contract?

  • 30 Tsunki // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:20 PM

Look if Aarons was the solution it would be insane not to use him given the position we are in. Are we supposed to believe they are trying to penny pinch on a sell on value at the risk of relegation? Please.

  • 31 AncientC // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:22 PM

If Ivanovic is the chink in Chelsea armour, then Aarons is the obvious choice to have a go.

Rate Aarons or not, he has pace and is willing to take his man on. If not Aarons against Ivanovic, then who? Thauvin or Obertan?

Aarons may or may not get the better of Ivanovic, but I think I would rather give that a go over playing out a predictable game in which the side stalls in midfield and we lose by a few goals.

  • 32 Tsunki // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:23 PM

Surely if they sold Aarons they could put a sell on clause in, it’s an everybody wins arrangement. I’m telling you, if it’s not lack of development, it’s attitude.

  • 33 Jib // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:25 PM

Nice to see Tsunki is just a normal negger and hasn’t joined the lunatics.

  • 34 Tsunki // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:25 PM

Kakaobi – I think we have all face it. For some time. The question is, how many of us are sick of it? 😐

  • 35 toon kk // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:25 PM

What boils my is why the club makes not just mistakes but ridiculous decisions and chooses not to address what is blatantly obviously required.

  • 36 Tsunki // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:26 PM

Thanks jeff that’s the nicest thing you’ve said for a while.

  • 37 Tsunki // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:27 PM

Toon kk the decisions only seem ridiculous if you assume they make them for competitive and sporting reasons.

  • 38 ShirebrookToon // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:34 PM

Blatter out!! And take Ashley and his band of merry men with you

  • 39 Jib // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:37 PM

    Who is Jeff ? 😎

  • 40 Jib // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:43 PM

Eleven players (including the 4 newbies ) who do not have an attitude problem.

    Formate them as you will

  • 41 toon kk // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:48 PM

Exactly, there decisions are generally for what they think are for the best financially for the club, but down to lack of knowledge it’s all backfiring big time.

  • 42 Thump // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:53 PM

So… Anita is going to be starting at LB? Or are we going to throw Mbemba to the proverbial wolves?

  • 43 Mister Tuff // Sep 25, 2015 at 6:59 PM

Jeff is Jib Jibberish (the blog pest) and confidant of club insider “Uncle Peanut”.
