New Strike Partnership – The A Team – Looks Promising

We had written before the game that it was interesting that our three poor performances in the last three games were without Aleksandar Mitrovic in the side, and he showed yesterday what an important player he is at Newcastle,  because he offers a threat up front and is a physical player.

My son Neil got it right after the game when he said the two Chelsea center backs were scared stiff of the Serbian all during the game, until he was taken off near the end to great applause from the appreciative Newcastle crowd.

Finally yesterday we were threatening in the final third of the field.

Aleksandar Mitrovic in action yesterday

It seems that Aleksandar was born to play for Newcastle, and he was calling on the fans for their support when he left the field and we were still 2-1 up.

The partnership of Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic up front looked so promising yesterday, and they are 22 and 21 respectively and seem to have a decent understanding already.

Maybe we should call them the A team?

The physical presence of Mitrovic coupled with the skills of Ayoze Perez hopefully will start to get us some goals and Perez scored a wonderful goal for us yesterday just before half time – so classy.

This lad must start for us from now on and have an extended run in the side – he is becoming even better than he was last season – and that;s a good sign.

Both players also seem to just love things at Newcastle, even though we are going through one of our worst starts in our Premier League history.

Maybe it wasn´t surprising the team were just a bit nervous about holding onto the lead last night, given we had won just one league game in the last 17.

We need a league win – and maybe we can even get that at the Etihad Stadium next Saturday afternoon.

That will be very tough, but we cannot have another letdown after yesterday´s performance.

We thought we had no chance at all yesterday and 75% in our poll thought we would lose the game yesterday –   we were just waiting for the first Chelsea goal to come.

Tells you how wrong we were – Newcastle were fantastic yesterday even though we didn´t win the game – the spirit shown by the players lifted the fans – and we needed that.

All we need is a win!

Mbabu is not a left back.

Defensively he was good albeit naive at times but being right footed (like Santon) he couldn’t contribute to our attack. He couldn’t go around the Chelsea defence and whip in a cross.

What McClaren has found is cover for Janmaat.

What McClaren has still to find is a left footed left back who can defend and attack.

On current form, we’ll probably put in a good performance against Citeh and an embarrassing one against Norwich.

Our defence is generally weak and Mbabu is a very welcome glimmer of light who unfortunately will slip back onto the bench before long…but the biggest waste of space we have in this team (with the exception of Colo of course) is Sissoko.

There’s no doubt he’s one of the bad eggs in the dressing room…he wanted away and his dummy is now miles away from his pram.

We should drop him from the team so he wallows in the reserves and sell him in January. That way he hopefully won’t make the Euro’s and it’ll serve him right for not remaining committed.

His oerformances have been woeful…no heart and no commitment…an absolute disgrace and we will do much better without him in the team.

New signings mitro..mbemba..were immense. wini getting better too although I’m expecting more. I hope he’s mot another sissoko where we don’t no his best position.

Perez must partner Mitro. Cisse must go in Jan with new no.9 brought on.

First time I’ve seen Mbabu and I like. He fast..commited and times tackle well. He’s not a l.b. at moment tho but I’d nearly peter him over haidira right now. Maybe a c.b. pairing of mbemba and Mbabu. ..nice ring to it.

Colo played well yesterday though but should have stayed upright when closing down ramires shot. He always does that.

Krul was good and restored my faith in him. Although he was caught in no mans land 2nd goal. Janmaat was good again.

Colback also played a stormer in the engine till he came off. Think we need a more creative player beside him. Anita for me just doesn’t cut it. The position is available for the likes of wini…tiote…sissoko..De jong even to claim. It’s a tough one to call..Anita will keep the jersey tho till the next ineffective display which might not be too far away.

A wing positions is available then between thauvin. .Rolando. ..Obertan. In an ideal world I’d love to see Rolando become a l.b. wingback with wini ahead of him and thauvin emerging as a set piece king on the right.

A dream team for me that I’d love to see get experimented

    Janmaat mbemba Mbabu/dunmett Rolando

    Thauvin sissoko colback wini

    Perez mitro

You have de jong colo as a dm as options to como off the bench

The support yesterday throughout the ground but in particular in the Gallowgate corner was absolutely top rate and has to be encouraged because when the noise is at that level SJP is scary!! Please Mr Ashley make note because you have the most passionate fans in the country at your disposal so use them.
