McClaren In Agreement With Jose Mourinho

After the game on Saturday – a game in which the Newcastle players showed up to a man – Jose Mourinho leveled criticism at Newcastle by saying the attitude of the players was typical of a club that has won nothing.

We agreed with him – it´s hard to argue against that.

This is specifically what Jose said:

“I think maybe one of the reasons why Newcastle over the years don’t get good positions in the league is because of this mentality.”

“It’s because they choose some matches to sweat blood and in other matches they don’t.” “This is an attitude typical of a team which wins nothing.”

When Jose´s comments were brought o the attention of Steve McClaren, the Newcastle head coach agreed with what Jose had said.

Steve McClaren said this:

Jose is right. We did it at Old Trafford, against Arsenal and now Chelsea – but you have to do it every week.”

Newcastle played one of their best games of the season on Saturday and we even managed to go 2-0 up – and that was the first time we have been ahead in  a league since the first game of the season at home to Southampton, when Wijnaldum headed in that goal to put us 2-1 ahead early in the second half.

But even against an off-form Chelsea side we couldn´t get the 3 points we desperately needed.

But we are hoping that game is a watershed because our players gave everything and they were roared on by the Newcastle fans.

The bond between the fans and the players was never more obvious than when Aleksandar Mitrovic went off after 85 minutes to great applause from the crowd.

But then a minute later Chelsea equalized so it was tough to take at the end.

But we were happy enough with the fighting performance of our players – and we only ask they keep that up – but in every game.

If they do that we have enough skill in the side and enough organization that we may even have a decent  season.

Comments welcome.

With colo in the mix we are condemned to bottom table mediocrity

Wee need a left footed central defender to balance out our central defence

Sorry to sound harsh – but one good game of football does not make for an excuse for what has gone before. Call it lack of confidence call it what you like, for professional footballers who are paid millions to perform the way they have for so many past games is a scandal. Take nurses or firemen or any other working class people, if they performed as badly for ONE day like NUFC they would be suspended. So let’s get real for once and remember the money these people are paid to play ninety minutes of football once or twice a week. Some are being paid more in a week than some of us are paid in a year. So let’s keep it real. There is a long way to go for these delicate souls and a vast improvement is needed for every game to come and only then will the club be fit to represent its supporters proudly.
