Sky Pundit – Only Right This Newcastle Player Gets Praised

Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal striker Alan Smith was really impressed with the performance of Aleksandar Mitrovic on Saturday against Chelsea, and the 21 year-old Serbian striker not only had a good game but he also gave a controlled performance and didn´t pick up any cards – thank goodness.

Alan Smith knows what he´s talking about the when he talks about strikers having played at Leicester City and Arsenal and 13 times for England in his career as a striker.

Aleksandar Mitrovic in action on Saturday – had an excellent game

In a career which last from 1982 to 1995 Alan Smith played 347 games with  115 goals.

This is what Alan Smith has written in the Telegraph today and he has identified Aleksandar Mitrovic as the Hero of the Week:

“A few weeks back I labelled Aleksandar Mitrovic a villain after getting booked and sent off in his first few games for Newcastle.”

“It´s only right now that he gets praised for returning from suspension to play a much more positive role in the draw with Chelsea.”

“The 21 year-old held the ball up very well and caused plenty of problems, whipping up the crowd along the way. The Toon Army might have found another favourite.”

When he was taken off on Saturday after 85 minutes with Newcastle 2-1 ahead he was seen trying to whip up the crowd with so little time left in the game.

But Chelsea still managed to equalise about one minute later so it was a heartbreaking end to the game for Newcastle fans – with the Magpies having only one league win in the last 18 games played.

We have only three draws and four defeats in our first seven league games this season so far – but things will get better if our players continue to show the passion and effort they showed on Saturday.

Much better performance by mitro, really liked when he came back and used his strength to shield the ball out for a goal kick.

A similar performance vs city and hopefully he’ll grab a goal.

Only disappointment player wise was sissoko, would like to bring Aarons on on the left and push wijnaldum out right, sissoko off the bench.

I think Mitro has a big future at NUFC. I really like his positive attitude, and I think it feeds into the rest of the squad. He desperately needs a goal now to really get his season going. On a separate subject altogether, please look out for the green and gold jerseys of the travelling SA fans who will start arriving in Newcastle this week for their world cup game against Scotland on Saturday. Hopefully by the end of the weekend we will have recruited a few thousand new NUFC supporters. GO BOKKE!
