Newcastle After Best Young Midfielder In Premier League

Newcastle were interested in winger Nathan Redmond when he was still at Birmingham City and before he was transferred to Norwich City over two years ago for around £3M when Chris Hughton was the manager.

Since then he has played for Norwich 93 times with 10 goals and Newcastle are reported to be still interested in him.

Nathan Redmond – Norwich City winger

There’s a piece in the Chronicle that reports Newcastle really like the England U21 International (24 games 6 goals) and maybe that’s code for – Graham Carr wants to bring him to Newcastle.

But we seem to be quite well off for wingers at the moment – although if Newcastle are talking about next summer to try to bring in the winger, that seems fine.

But we have the January transfer window coming up, and wherever we are in the league by then we should try to strengthen the weaker positions in the side like center back, left back and striker.

We may find by the end of the year that we have players playing well in those positions, but Newcastle still need to strengthen in January.

If we can get a couple of good players in during January then they will have six months to get used to the England way of playing football before next season begins.

Newcastle will probably go after some of those players whose contracts run out next summer – like Charlie Austin of QPR and Joel Matip of Schalke.

The CEIS Football Observatory ranked Chancel Mbemba the best performing center-back under 21 in the Premier League so far this season.

And likewise Nathan Redmond has been ranked as the best performing young attacking midfield player under 21 so far this season.

So he’s having a good season in the Premier League, but whether Newcastle can persuade Norwich to sell him is a good question.

    Jesper
How many danish clubs have won ANYTHING ? shut the f@ck up

Our Toon I think you missed my point (jesper you miss every point)

The best way too explain it , is strength in depth
Romania , Serbia (Yugoslavia), France , Scotland , have all won the European cup / CL once.
Spain many times but only 2 different clubs Portugal 2 different clubs
Germany Italy and Netherlands with 3 different clubs.
England with 5 – Liverpool , Nottingham Forest , Aston Villa , Manchester United , Chelsea.

    Hope this helps

Haha good luck getting Redmond. 2 years plus a year option left on his contract at Norwich. If Luke Shaw is worth £30m and Callum Chambers £18m after playing 60 and 22 senior games before their transfers then Redmond (146 senior appearances) must be with at least £20-25m. Can really see Ashley spending that sort of money lol
