There’s news today in the Shields Gazette that Newcastle players are being measured up for new club suits to be issued in the near future.
Steve McClaren has said it was important that Newcastle players come to the home games well dressed in suits although a couple of new players, Chancel Mbemba and Florian Thauvin, overdid it a bit when they turned up in tuxedos.
This outfit infuriated Alan Shearer
If Newcastle had been winning games and Thauvin has been playing really well for us then nothing would have been said about it.
But Alan Shearer, in particular, blasted Thauvin for it after we lost 2-1 against Watford – although the young Frenchman did turn up recently without his bow tie – although he still wore the tuxedo.
Most big clubs allocate club suits to their players and finally Newcastle will do that after Steve McClaren earlier this season had mentioned they were thinking about it.
Sports Direct bought a majority stake in luxury retailer Cruise in 2013, and they do sell suits, but they are kind of expensive at over £500 – take a look here.
And if Newcastle are in cost cutting mode they could always get a decent deal at Marks & Spencer.
It will be interesting to see if Cruise gets the order for the suits and usually the club suits are really smart these days with the club crest woven right into the suits.
Wonder what color they will be?
We’d go for a dark charcoal grey.
Wonder if they will sell them in the club shops?
