Newcastle Veteran Could Get Shock Recall For City Game

Jack Colback seems to be touch and go for the game at the Etihad tomorrow and when assistant coach Paul Simpson was interviewed on nufcTV a few days ago he said the local lad was a major doubt for the game.

If Jack cannot make it there are a number of players who can play in the holding role for Newcastle including even captain Fabricio Coloccini.

Cheick Tiote – in action last season

Cheick Tiote has already received some criticism this season when he was accused by a Sky Sports pundit of not particularly wanting to play for Newcastle and even poisoning the dressing room, but that particular story was rubbished rather quickly by head coach Steve McClaren.

Cheick can still do a job for us this season and he’s fit again – and we should hear more from Steve McClaren today about the Ivory Coast International when he gives his press confidence.

There is a chance that McClaren could recall the Ivory Coast International and start him tomorrow against Manchester City.

That’s what the Shields Gazette are reporting – if Jack Colback cannot make the game tomorrow.

Cheick has lots of experience and has made 134 appearances for the Magpies since he signed for us back in August, 2010 for £3.5M from FC Twente and that was after having helped the Dutch club win their first and only Eredivisie title under Steve McClaren.

It will be good to get Cheick fit again and have him challenging for a first team spot again and he still has two years left on his Newcastle contract.

Cheick has played 53 times for the Ivory Coast and hopefully he is chomping at the bit to get back into Newcastle’s first team starting line-up.

Cheick played only 12 times for us last season after picking up a knee injury at the African Cup of Nations last January and he so far has 3 appearances for us this season.

What do you think?

Tiote shouldn’t be any where near the first team, he’s past it , he’s far too static, even when fit like most of our squad.
Most of our squad aren’t 100% fit , we run out ofsteam ccome the second half.

May Tioté never ever start for NUFC Again. Total liability. He cannot pass the ball.

Tiote will always be feisty abrasive player who can really add bite to the midfield.if his heart is in it.Gets a dig in where it is needed but a yellow or a red always waiting to happen the fans used to hold there breath when ever he went into a tackle.

Give credit where its due. Thauvin lost the ball too much at Watford but he was the only one trying.

Since am not busy today am going to watch OM and Lille matches to see how Thauvin used to play to see if he can be any better for us.

Quite right toon kk. We are habitually the most unfit (in the sense of lacking stamina) and injury prone team in the Premier League. Nobody in authority seems to be interested in doing anything serious about it. Pre-season training was all about ball work, we heard. Sounds great, but we still can’t pass, cross, beat a man or shoot. And we are more unfit than ever. Good plan. Just plain bad luck we are at the bottom end of the table, I guess….

Please not Tiote he is lazy and loses interest.
Collo in front of back four could be good but you would need to bring back williamson. Goufran on left.

Time for Tiote to be moved on, he’s past it. His woeful passing is always gifting possesion to the opposition. I know all the team is careless with their passing buy Tiote is the worst at passing for sure.
