Hold my beer, I’m going in.

  • 2 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:35 PM

I’m not sure Tiote even knew he’d come on mate….

  • 3 welshgeordie9 // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:37 PM

    Bring back Pardew.

  • 4 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:38 PM

    Cisse Tiote Gouffran
Please please please never pull on a black and white shirt again

They are the very embodiment of nufc under Ashley: Lethargic lazy gutless uninterested mercenaries who are interested in little else their than a pay cheque

  • 5 Transfer Sage // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:39 PM

He has such a negative attitude, yeh they are one of the best in the league but they are human, we can have a go

  • 6 Thump // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:39 PM

Same old rubbish that Ed can mine for days, then.

“They key thing is to recover from this, and show we can recover from this.”

We haven’t recovered from a fscking thing all season, man! We haven’t even looked like winning a game! Every time we get ahead, we collapse.

No matter how much money we have to spend in January, no player worth their salt will come to us like this.

  • 7 WWSBRD // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:39 PM

No sign of the Tiote of old then? Still stick with bleeding Anita then

  • 8 Thump // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:40 PM

@Transfer Sage: In all fairness, his tactics before the game was “we need to be lucky”.

    And he’s being paid for…

  • 9 Transfer Sage // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:40 PM

Like I say, Ashley isn’t the only problem but he is causing the problems.

I can debate mcclaren if you like. I don’t think he is up to it, one good spell with twente is all he has in a mediocre career at best.

The players, show no character, little fight, once something does against them they all quite.

Charnley, not bringing in experienced players was a mistake, should have sanctioned moves for players who know the league and can lead the team.

Carr, very debated signings for years, very hit and miss. All scouts are though however he keeps buying lightweight players not suited to the league.

  • 10 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:41 PM

Tiote has been AWOL for about 3 seasons now
Lots of stories flying around about him feigning injuries etc. Tbh just get shot, if you don’t want to play for the club, there’s the door……to the reserves!

  • 11 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:42 PM

    Please Schteve…..just……just stop talking
We know we need a reaction
    We know we imploded
    We do it every week

  • 12 banjax // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:44 PM

Disgraceful. If Mike Ashley thinks he has the right men in McLaren and Charnley , he’d better brace himself for Championship Football now. NUFC is dying and with the international break now is the time to change things. Ash(ley)amed.

  • 13 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:46 PM

So are Sunderland going to do their usual and get a new manager in before we play them??

    3 weeks to go !!

  • 14 WWSBRD // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:46 PM

Tbf none of our players have had any motivation for years now if I was a professional player I would touch Newcastle with a barge pole

I don’t blame Tiote or Cisse for wanting away (if they do) they’ve been let down by the club just like the rest of us

  • 15 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:47 PM

McClaren so far has yet to deliver on his promises, never wanted him here, still don’t in all honesty

De Boer came out this week and said he’d still love to manage a club like us

Sadly though however you look at it were here through one mans ineptitude
    Mike Ashley
He’s the man who makes the appointments, he’s the idiot who’s left a once great club at the mercy of Lee Charnley and Carr, both should of walked last season
Can’t see a light at the end of tunnel, were reaping 8 years worth of neglect and imploding in a truly spectacular manner

  • 16 Dingo†® // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:48 PM

  • 17 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:49 PM

We could Mourinho, Ancellotti or Arsene Wenger and they would struggle to achieve anything at this club. It’s not the manager.

  • 18 jimiley // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:49 PM

We need to keep the faith in SM. Form is temporary but class is permanent. We have a squad which can easily get us a top 8 finish. Lets judge the manager after 30 games.

  • 19 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:49 PM

To be honest their as bigger part of the problem as the management
Not really sure how Cisse or Tiote have been let down by the club

High earners, big contracts and constantly sacrifice other players who are willing to put the work in to fit them in the team

    Those lads are a disgrace

  • 20 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:50 PM

Should say we could “have” – wee typo there.

  • 21 jimiley // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:54 PM

The only silver lining about relegation is that it will cost Ashley a fortune. He will gag on his broon ale and that makes relegation almost desirable. And there will be no coming straight back up. The club is dead from the neck up. A club slowly suffocating after 9 years of mismanagement. We will reap our just desserts this season. We kept going and kept Ashley in control. We deserve it really.

  • 22 Thump // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:55 PM

@jimiley: Then we can judge him in another 30, when we miss the playoffs in the Championship.

  • 23 Toon Tang // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:57 PM

Gwarn Saints, haha Mourinho don’t like it up him eh

  • 24 WWSBRD // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:57 PM

They came to the club gave their all and the club coasted to pathetic levels, Cisse has been shunted around from left to right and made to look a poor player when really he’s a brilliant striker and Tiote has been set up to run a midfield when he isn’t up to it again made to looks poorer than he is

Money and contracts are all well and good but their careers have peaked because of Newcastle

  • 25 SPRINGY // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:59 PM

at one time or another every player looks like they want to be away…. there overall attitude is to be questioned its not just the usual suspects….but as toonarmydownsouth says if a player wants away….get rid….dont let him near 1st team….players need to stand up and fight the captain should at the front!!…..but can anyone see colo leading the charge?……not me!!

  • 26 JackButler // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:59 PM

What a complete and total embarrassment, our defending is so pathetic it’s almost laughable.

Jaanmat hasn’t got a clue what goal side means, I’ve never seen a man attracted to the ball at the expense of leaving his man like Colo while Mbemba is caught somewhere in the middle.

But not to worry as no doubt Carr is already busy trying to unearth the next lightweight, overrated French midfielder to add to his growing list of failures

  • 27 SPRINGY // Oct 3, 2015 at 6:59 PM

the captain should be at the front#

  • 28 JackButler // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:01 PM

If people want to know what a good scout can do the take a look at Southampton and Swansea, neither spend massive amounts on one single player but they more often or not get the RIGHT player in

  • 29 toon kk // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:02 PM

We’re no better than a league 1 side struggling to compete in the wrong division with useless players.

You lot think we have got problems look at Liverpool and especially Chelsea tonight, much bigger clubs than us and they have been shocking.

  • 32 jimiley // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:03 PM

We need more French or Spanish lightweights. Ideally costing about 13 million, 5 feet 7 and 10 stone wet through. Carr will oblige. Carr is so inept surely he is due a big pay rise?

  • 33 JackButler // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:04 PM

    Chelsea getting ripped apart

  • 34 SPRINGY // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:04 PM

not defending carr but a few players they have signed we have apparently try to get in but it was the money side of things where we failed so thats not down to carr

  • 36 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:04 PM

Keep faith in SM ? Are you a mackem ?

Had enough now. Team has collapsed players on last legs in January they will all issue transfer requests watch.

Its over. Ashleys stubbornness will finally cost him .

Next 4 games I see one point. Its laughable.

  • 37 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:05 PM

At least we will be playing Sunderland in the championship along with Villa

All 3 deserve to go down we have coasted along with those 2 teams thinking premiership status will always be guaranteed

  • 38 jimiley // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:05 PM

The players are not playing for the chosen one at Chelski. He lost the respect of the players over his treatment of the club doctor.

  • 39 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:07 PM

To the people pointing to Liverpool and Chelsea vs us.

So please don’t compare us to them you are embarassing.

  • 40 JackButler // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:08 PM

The players at Southampton are not on any more than our players. Van Dyjk went for 11 million, a player who would walk in to this side but Carr moved for his long term target Thauvin.

He’s spent over 80 million in two seasons and we look like relegation fodder as he’s wasted so much money of poor players.

How can a club that spends that amount of money still have Colo as captain? We don’t have a single leader in that squad and it’s pathetic

  • 41 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:09 PM

Not sure i agree with that
If anything the squads been chopped and changed numerous times in an attempt to fit him in rather finding a player that suits the squad

Tiote has done little but live the rock n roll lifestyle that comes with being a footballer and seems to have little interest in trying, his role hasn’t changed but frequency of his “injuries” sure as hell has

Just don’t buy it, it’s all one big boys club with no one really f**ked about what happens on the pitch, the players are as guilty of this as anyone

  • 42 Tsunki // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:09 PM

we not going to be there all season, get a pissing grip, and those two teams are still piss pot poor.

  • 44 toonking // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:10 PM

    from previous post

no matter how poor a manager, players and scouting it’s always going to be down to him at the very top as to weather or not we’ll see improvements.

world cup being hosted at qatar is a stupid thing but as long as sepp blatter was in charge we’d continue to see countries like this hosting it and that is why so many footballing nations didn’t want him to continue much longer and why he’s currently getting questioned .

The doping chaos in athletics has been going chaos in recent months and we’ve seen a new person come in at the top.

England team nationally continue to do poor and seem to get worse every season but until the FA take back total control of english clubs and the way they handle youth england will continue.

No matter what problems occur it is down to those at the top who’ll ultimately determine weather or not it can turn better

  • 45 Tsunki // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:13 PM

I thought it would be a stout rodgering of maybe 3-0 from the Citizens today, I just wanted the scoreline to be respectable. Like we were in it. Somebody obviously told the young lads at half time to cut out this ‘ effort’ lark because it made the rest of them look so bad. Cue being roped over a barrel. SM must be just waiting for the team that is so bad even we will beat them. When you’ve got that team figured out. Steve, let us know, will you?

ya right we are pathetic im just saying the likes of gomi and ayew for example were willing to come apparently but powers that be decided they would’nt give them the money they wanted….that has nowt to do with carr….but carr has alot to answer for in terms of quality and where to strengthen at the right time….but then again could come down to money……to us spending 15m on austin who scores 20ish goals in the pl is not even something to think about but to charnley he’s thinkin well just wait 6-10mth and we’ll get him for a quarter of the price…is the better option……and to be honest players will join a lot of other teams before us at the moment…..barge pole comes to mind

  • 54 JackButler // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:27 PM

I’ve never known if a scout to have so much say at any club, but then perhaps it’s something to do with that the chairman is just as bloody clueless.

SM was Carr’s choice as manager, Thauvin was Carr’s choice above a proven centre half, he failed to look at bringing in another right back for cover.

I still say that Swansea pay no more than what we do, so the we chose not to sign Ayew and Gomis. The Austin deal makes sense from a business point of view but it does not alter the fact that a scout has wasted so much money that we could very well be relegated. He’s as culpable as Charnley and Ashley and is a major problem at the club

  • 55 kakaobi // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:28 PM

Proof is in the pudding as they say

  • 56 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:30 PM

I’d say Carr has a pretty decent say in player recruitment seeing as he’s somehow now in the board of directors

  • 57 TroubledToon // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:30 PM

Steve, yes City might be the best.. But that didn’t stop them from losing the last 2 games right. And didn’t Tottenham hand them their backsides just last week?????????
So why cudnt we lose respectably? Like a 3-0? That wudnt have been too bad losing to the “best team”
Y do v have to get humiliated just bcuz they’re the best??
U cant handle it Steve…. This was always bound to happen once u hire a reject from a Championship club… Way to go NUFC!!!!
V hired a smiling idiot when v needed a Keane or Viera or even a Nigel Pearson, who’d literally grab his players by the throat n force em to grow a pair!!!!!!

  • 58 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:32 PM

Its actually shocking that we are probably going to have to win 3 or 4 games in a row to get out of the bottom 3

  • 59 jimiley // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:33 PM

Shteeev reckons we were “unlucky” today and has asked the fans for patience. I have been waiting patiently for a domestic Cup or league trophy for 59 years. It starts to wear a bit thin. Every year the manager asks for patience and is rebuilding the team etc etc etc. But the unlucky today line Steve.? Go see the guy in the white coat.

  • 60 jimiley // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:35 PM

    Lee Charnley,

Do you think we are getting out of the bottom 3 then? Hoping for a late run for the title as well?

  • 61 Hail Wor Ashley // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:35 PM

Should have been lining up like this from the season off:

Subs: Darlow, Elmohamady, Van Dijk, Anita, Colback, Abeid, Austin.

The removal of the bad eggs is paramount if we’re to survive this season.

Some of our most senior players and none really want to be here. Very damaging. We only did half the job. Too many putting up a facade of caring, that dissipates at their whim or when they’re up against it. The new boys will be dragged down before too long and the youngsters haven’t got a chance with those lot around.

Can see what bad decision making is doing to Chelsea, when a leader is no longer respected due to his actions and behaviour (Moanrinho), things quickly get out of hand, our huge mishap was retaining Colo and co and ousting Jonas, that set the tone for the season.

  • 62 JackButler // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:37 PM

I think is the main man when it comes to signings, as let’s be honest how is someone like Charnley going to argue with anything he says? The guy is a secretary for christs sake.

If anyone takes a look back at his signings they will find that three or four players aside he failed with just about every one of his signings and now it’s been said that he was responsible for the choice of SM?????

Swansea and Southampton are just two clubs that sell their best p,ayers and live off a smaller transfer kitty than ours and yet they are both playing great football, winning games while we are simply canon fodder for the rest of the league to boost their confidence

The lunatics are well and truly running the asylum it’s that lot

  • 63 toon kk // Oct 3, 2015 at 7:47 PM

Sounds daft, but we should have been relegated last season. We don’t belong in the premier league, many fans think we have a good team, which is badly managed, bull sht.
We are an absolute disgrace to the game of football, Carr should hang his head in shame.
Most of our squad aren’t fit to play football never mind in the premier league.

Ashley is clueless – it was obvious from the outset that McLaren was never going to be able to bring the sea change that was needed – even Canute couldn’t do that.
He looks like a old gadgie who ‘s lost his bingo card down the club.

    Get Viera !

  • 73 JackButler // Oct 3, 2015 at 8:04 PM

Hate to burst anyones bubble, but there is zero chance of Ashley selling up and moving on as there is simply way too much money for him as our owner.

The only chance we have is that he replaces the likes of charnley and Carr for two people that actually know what the hell they are doing, but the chances of that happening are about as likely as finding a massive pile of rocking horse shyte

  • 74 JackButler // Oct 3, 2015 at 8:06 PM

You’ve got to believe that Charney and Carr are under massive pressure right now as they are the two calling all the shots but Ashley will still be involved, even if its just in the background and there is now way he will be happy seeing so much money being wasted buy Laurel and Hardey

In our wisdom we refuse to pay £15m for a proven EPL striker. Instead we spend a similar amount on Thauvin after spending a similar amount the previous year on a similar useless French flop of a winger. We sit firmly at the bottom of the league with a makeshift attack and a crap defence afyer spending £50m. You couldn’t make it up.

The persons making the decisions are the same ones apologising for their previous bad mistakes. When will heads roll?

  • 84 toon-to-win // Oct 3, 2015 at 9:07 PM

It still baffles me how we never upgrade our defence (or try and coach them it seems for that matter) the last quality CB we had was woodgate! Micah richards was a no brainer for me! The only football situation thats baffled me more is how a top club like arsenal go years with half decent GK’s but even they have gone and eradicated that issue this year!
