With Jack Colback missing from the team yesterday due to injury, Steve McClaren put in Yoan Gouffran in defensive midfield, which shows the lack of depth we have in the team at the moment.
Newcastle currently have 10 injured players out according to Physioroom.com with Jack Colback said to be fit again on 18th October so we don´t know if Jack will make the next game at home to Norwich City in two weeks time.
Cheick Tiote – can do a job for Newcastle?
But it looks like Cheick Tiote may be finally fit again and he came on yesterday in the second half and he could potentially play a role in turning around Newcastle´s season, which we need to do before the end of the year.
The longer Newcastle stay in the relegation zone the longer players will lack confidence and find ways of losing games.
What´s needed is a win this season maybe by a few goals to get some confidence back into this squad.
It´s a bit like last season when we carried on our poor from the previous season and in the 2013-2014 season we lost seven of our last eight games and then went the first seven games last season with only four draws and no wins.
But that´s better than we´ve done this season and maybe Cheick Tiote can come in and give us some bite in midfield and maybe the Ivory Coast International can help settle things down at Newcastle.
He´s played for Steve McClaren before when FC Twente won their first and only Eredivisie title back in 2010 so maybe he can play well for McClaren at Newcastle.
There´s a danger that if we don’t start winning soon we could be set adrift from the rest of the teams in the league and then it becomes very difficult to get back into the swing of things.
And to think we thought after we just survived last season the club would have put things right by now.
What´s that about the best-laid plans of mice and men?
They often go awry.

Comment #123Lesh, I reckon you’re on the money there. He put that message out when it became clear Rodgers’ time was up. I can think of no other club that comment was aimed at, can you? Unless he’d had a quiet word with Dick! 😉 Hope they take Pearson – he’s turned into a right nob heed! On second thoughts, he’s a decent manager as well as being a heed, so maybe not. De Canio’s available I suppose. 😉

Didn’t dare watch the match ( blood pressure ) but tell me did Colo or any player kick up a fuss with ref with the offside decision ? If it was Chelski or Manure they would have done.
Have our lot no fire for a fight ?
B&B, the flag came as the ball was played across though. Had he passed it forward, then they were clearly offside and I’d be calling them idiots, but the ball came across whilst the passer was clearly ahead of the targets in the middle. That’s not a linesman misjudging who was on or offside, it’s a linesman not understanding the very basics of the offside law – and that’s what angers me. It’s like flagging offside from a throw in, or a corner. A Sunday morning ref wouldn’t make that sort of error, which is why I’m so baffled that a pro ref could that so wrong. It reminds me of the Tiote goal v City – just looking for any excuse to chalk it off.
