There´s no doubt that Newcastle will need to spend some big money in the January transfer market after getting only 3 points from the first 24 points played for so far this season and Newcastle are now rock bottom of the Premier League – it´s our worst start ever in the Premier League after eight games played.
While we didn´t expect to be in the top six by now we thought we would have maybe at least a point a game after the club spent £52M in the summer on what looked some good players brought in.
Gokhan Tore – Newcastle January target?
It´s now clear that whatever the status of Newcastle in January some big players will be lined up and if we are in danger of relegation we will even pay over the odds to get the players in. much like we did in January 2013.
23 year-old Gokhan Tore of Besiktas is one of those players being scouted – but our main priority has to be in defense which is a huge weakness for Newcastle.
The former Chelsea Youth player would be a decent buy for Newcastle and he´s also played at Hamburg and Rubin Kazan in Russia before joining Besiktas in 2013 – initially on loan – before making the deal a permanent one in the summer of last year.
He would be about £14M if Newcastle decide they want to go after the 22 times capped Turkish International in January, but any players the club brings in at that time have to be able to produce the goods.
In the past we have brought players in from the continent – for the future – and they have struggled initially at Newcastle and some – like Remy Cabella and Manu Riviere – have not made the grade in England and been flops.
Arsenal are supposed to also be after the German-born player and could compete with Newcastle, but maybe not for the upcoming January window.
What do you think?
