Why Would Newcastle Want To Sign This French International?

6:47 pm, Thursday, October 8th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 28 Comments

We’re not sure at all why we are being linked with former Newcastle right back Mathieu Debuchy who is now warming the bench at the Gunners after leaving Newcastle about fifteen months ago for £12M.

And Newcastle took £5M of that fee and brought in Dutch International Daryl Janmaat as the replacement and he was our Player of the Season in his first season on Tyneside and he’s been in decent form in the last few games for Newcastle this season.

Mathieu Debuchy – on bench at Arsenal

Daryl was easily our best signing for a while and certainly the best of the summer of 2014 when we also brought in Remy Cabella and Manu Riviere – both of whom have failed to make it in the Premier League.

Cabella needs to play just another four games on loan at Marseille and an automatic transfer will be triggered – and that will presumably be formally executed in January.

Newcastle’s defense is still hopeless and we should be bringing in a full back and a center back in January but as far as we can see Mathieu Debuchy wouldn’t fit as we are covered at right-back with Janmaat.

What we need is a good left back brought in – and a center back – which is really the big requirement.

So we’re not sure why there are reports out there that we are interested in Debuchy in January, even if we were to take him back.

That doesn’t usually happen when a player leaves the club for a bigger club – and we were not interested in resigning Yohan Cabaye in the summer when he joined Crystal Palace.

Even taking Mathieu on loan in January doesn’t seem to make sense.

The mistake we made in January was to allow Davide Santon to leave and join Inter-Milan and he is now a first team regular with Inter having won five of their first seven games and are second top of the Italian League.

More poor judgement from Newcastle in a year (2015)  that is turning out to possibly be one of – if not the worst ever – for the club in terms of results.

I agree with Mister Tuffs assessment of Sissoko, but despite his actual performances he should be able to play a central midfield position, as I would think Gini also. Therefore my prefered selection for the next game would be, barring injuries:

    Rucksack what?

Why would be interested in Debuchy?

Easy, he wants to play in the Champions League or maybe closer to it, he’s missing Cabaye and wants a move to Palace to achieve his dream.

Debuchy on loan makes perfect sense.
He knows the area and the club he needs game time and we could do with more defenders.
Hector Bellerin seems to be esconced in the right back berth on the left Arsenal have Kieron Gibbs and Monreal fighting for the spot I seem to remember Debuchy doing ok on the left.

I’ll explain it in a simpler way mate, whenever something is translated back into another language it’s done so with bullshit intent to spark controversy. Don’t believe everything you read, unless you’ve seen the transcript and sissoko spoke in English.

Would you be so bothered if it was sissoko saying Colo is shite? If sissoko has said that in public he’s wrong for doing so and he can resolve it with his teammate, but has he apparently said anything that contradicts the beliefs most have on Thauvin if proven to be true….no he hasn’t. It’s a non issue which you cling to because you have a dislike for him!!

Debuchy has made his bed….and he is not going to leave Cabaye alone in it.

  • 9 Tsunki // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:13 PM

I say you just can’t get enough injured players at the Toon so why not?

  • 10 Tsunki // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:14 PM

    Also Sprach Jeff.

I said 3 days ago I saw the interview live on Canal plus.

Sissoko mentioned TowVan , Cabella , and Hatem ben Arfa and the tenor of the conversation was the difficulty of French players adapting to the EPL with particular regard to himself .

He didn’t slag anyone off , he merely used the aforementioned as first hand examples that he knew personally.

If going anywhere it’ll be Palace

As much as I think Colo is pants playing Laschelles would be a disaster, we’d concede alot more goals like the one where he watched Aguero run off him and tap it in. It’s all starting to sound like the Santon situation all over again.

Willo and Laschelles are on par, Laschelles still has time to grow into being a better player but at the minute he’s not the answer. Watch him play and you’ll know why!!

You must be delighted about SKY1 on 19th October

  • 15 Our Toon // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:20 PM

Apparently it’s all changed now and he’s sagged off teammates and former teammates. It’s amazing how things get twisted

  • 16 Our Toon // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:21 PM

I hope he hasn’t sagged off teammates

He’s not slagged them off either!!

We need to spend about 50 million to make our defense good and a further 50 million in attacking options and a new player midfield most of which in January. The money in this league is out of this world every season now and if we don’t invest hard now while we have premier league status, I don’t think we can compete at championship level when allot of our players leave.

Ashley needs to get real and accept that 10-20 mill for a player is about the standard for the premier league and he should stop looking for the next big thing to flip a quick profit on, It’s not going to work!

    Our Toon

You have immediately spotted my one weakness, I should have put Dummett in there but to be honest picking the back four is pretty hopeless at the moment. Overall regarding the team selection, something needs to click into place and I believe Schteve needs to be a bit more brave, rather than following on from what has gone on before.

Cancelled the Sky ages ago Jeff.

I wonder if we will be going in for Austin in January.

  • 21 Our Toon // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:36 PM

    Austin is pants

  • 22 Munster Mag // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:37 PM

Our toon, yes i dont like sissoko but he hasnt denied the comments. Its not his job to articulate anything about individual performances. Thauvin is herea wet week and mr champs league is saying the club expects more. Of course theclub wants more but why air it in public re a rookie. I hope he articulates his own meagre contribution too

  • 23 Lindisfarne // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:37 PM

    I blame:
Ashley – for employing weaklings and creating a ‘cheap’ environment that does little to encourage success.
Charnley – for not signing two defenders and two strikers, no excuse.
Carr – being too old and set in his ways.
    Moncur – dito
Beardsley – for suggesting winning is not of prime importance in the Academy, despite being in Div2.
Collicini/Williamson/Taylor – for still being at the club.

  • 24 Jib // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:38 PM

That’s a shame cos , the Tsunkis …………sorry ,the Muppets are back

  • 25 toon kk // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:40 PM

I don’t know why people are wanting rid of Sissoko, he may not be giving a 100% but he’s still one of our best players. Personally I think the whole squad lacks a good kick up the ass. They need to be reminded that a game is for 90 mins not 45. Fitness is a real issue at NUFC and has been for years.

  • 26 Ravostag // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:44 PM

Sign Debuchy, Ben Arfa, Santon, Shola, Mbiwa and the rest, probably couldn’t do any worse than were we are now.

  • 27 welshgeordie9 // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:48 PM

    Our Toon

So’s half of our pissing squad.

  • 28 AlfiePotter // Oct 8, 2015 at 7:59 PM

Debuchy is a yellow belly and we already have enough of them

He will end up at palace with his besty.
