It´s Bad News For Newcastle´s Dutch Players

The Netherlands won 2-1 in Kazakhstan tonight and went ahead of Turkey in Group A by one point for a short time but Turkey have beaten the Czech Republic away with two goals in the last 30 minutes from Selcuk ?nan and Hakan Calhanoglu to win the game 2-0 and go two points clear of the Netherlands.

Tim Krul leaving Kazakhstan tonight

That means  the Netherlands must beat the Czech Republic in Amsterdam on Tuesday night but they have suffered a number of injuries.

Goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen was injured in the warm-up tonight and Tim Krul came in but the Newcastle goalkeeper was injured after 81 minutes and looks to have suffered a serious knee injury and left the ground on crutches tonight after the game.

Manager Danny Bling said he had 15 injured players not available for the game on Tuesday night and that Tim? injury looks to be a bad one.

In their final game of Group A Turkey will play Iceland at home and Iceland gave up a 2-0 lead tonight at home to Latvia and only drew 2-2.

Both the Czech Republic and Iceland have already qualified for the Euro finals in France next summer and given that Turkey are 2 points ahead of the Netherlands – it would be a surprise if the Dutch can get third place and qualify for the playoffs.

This is a shock after the Netherlands were third in last summer´s World Cup in Brazil and a big disappointment for Newcastle’s five Dutch players.

Hope Krul’s injury isn’t too serious.

Our squad needs to get there fitness levels lifted. They’re putting too much strain on unfit tired muscles, a major factor in our injury list every season. You can see how we tire come the second half of every game we play. .

We didn’t bother about fitness training pre-season, we concentrated on ball work, apparently. Of course, this has manifested itself in the silky skills our players have displayed this season. Sublime passing, outrageous ball-control – well you’ve seen it I’m sure. So, we are probably the most unfit team in the PL, but we do get to witness the exquisite skill of Sissoko, Colback, Obertan etc. for 20 minutes or so until they’re knackered.

I feel for Krul. It’s never nice to get a serious injury.

I am nit sure though that it will impact us that much as long as Darlow is ready next week. It cannot be worse than what we have seen from Krul the past 18 months.

I think ed was referring to the whole Dutch team missing out on qualification since the turkey win, it just means the Dutch need to beat the Czechs by a few goals and hope that the Turks get beat by Iceland by a few goals or field an ineligible player.
Even then , it’s only a possible playoff place for them,…….how the mighty have fallen……it’s the perils of not refreshing the international squad and sticking with older players for too long…..there’s a group who are over 28 and another group who are under 22 and not enough in between through this…..heartbreaking indeed since the Dutch are now considering moving away from total football which they have mastered for nearly 50 years

Not in Yarm no…he was in the same Ryan Air queue as me in leeds bradford airport going to malaga.

Does make you wonder what a manager who’s bottom of the league is thinking when he fcuks off to spain to for a couple of days or whatever…you’d think e’shave more pressing things on his mind wouldn’t you.

Doubt Sir bobby would have done that but then again i doubt sir Bobby would have had us anywhere the near bottom 3 either
