Euro 2016 A Big Incentive For Newcastle Defender

9:28 am, Monday, October 12th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 1 Comment

Paul Dummett could finally return for Newcastle against Norwich on Sunday at home after struggling with a hamstring injury ever since the end of last season.

It turns out that Paul was not fully fit when he played the final four games for Newcastle last season – but John Carver put him in since it was so vital for the club to survive in the Premier League.

Come to think of it – it still is.

He managed to play through the pain barrier in all four games but messed up his hamstring (hardly a big surprise) in the process and it´s  taken almost five months to get it right again.

Bit hopefully he is OK now and we need him in the side on Sunday with both Sadio Haidara and Kevin Mbabu out with injuries.

If Paul can quickly return to form he could even help out at center back if required with Paul having shown he can play there against some good opposition.

With Wales having qualified for the Euro 2016 finals in France next summer, it will be a great incentive for Paul to do well at Newcastle and nail down a first team place so he can make the squad next June.

He´s rated by Wales manager Chris Coleman who has kept in touch with the Newcastle defender this season.

Left back is a position we may have to strengthen in January bit there´s a great opportunity for the local lad to show he can get the job done for his home town team.

Hopefully, that will start on Sunday against Norwich City.

Comments welcome.
